I heard the children sgg, and ever as they sang I thought the voice angels from Heaven answer rang, I thought the voice angels from Heaven answer rang. Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Lift up your gates and sg, Hosanna the highest! Hosanna to your Kg! And then methought my dream was changed, the streets no longer rang. Hushed were the glad Hosannas the little children sang. The sun grew dark with mystery, the morn was cold and chill, As the shadow a cross arose upon a lonely hill, As the shadow a cross arose upon a lonely hill. Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Hark! How the angels sg, Hosanna the highest! Hosanna to your Kg! And once aga the scene was changed, new earth there seemed to be. I saw the Holy City beside the tideless sea. The light God was on its streets, the gates were open wide, And all who would might enter, and no one was denied. No need moon or stars by night, or sun to she by day; It was the new Jerusalem that would not pass away, It was the new Jerusalem that would not pass away. Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Sg for the night is o er! Hosanna the highest! Hosanna forevermore! Hosanna the highest! Hosanna forevermore! Call to Worship S. 5 E V E N I N G W O R S H I P 6 : 3 0 P M Soli Deo Gloria: Prelude at 6:15 PM Hymn Service Soli Deo Gloria is a motto that has been used sce the time the Protestant Reformation. It is the culmatg phrase five Solas and means Glory to God Alone. Recognizg that all glory belongs to God and that we, even at our best, are but struments His grace, is the true, Christian world-life view. Such was the perspective the great church musician Johann Sebastian Bach ( ), who regularly began his compositional work, whether sacred or secular, by writg JJ (Jesu, juva Jesus, help me ) on the first page a manuscript and sdg at the end. Sce 1995 we have employed this phrase as the title our fifteen-mute musical prelude to eveng worship. SDG affords musicians (sgers and strumentalists alike) the opportunity to give back to God from the gifts He has given them. At the same time, the music is tended to encourage the congregation and to be a public testimony our desire as musicians to honor Him with our musical fergs. This even extends past vocal music with sacred text to the untexted beauty strumental music, which can also be fered to the glory God. Through the doctre common grace, such music demonstrates for us not only the skill the player, but also the creative genius with which God has endowed so many composers, whether or not they were conscious this gift or were tentional their use it for His glory. Welcome Call to Worship Invocation * Hymn 164: O for a Thousand Tongues to Sg Azmon Prayer Confession Almighty God, to Whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from Whom no secrets are hidden; we confess that we have followed too much the devices and desires our own hearts rather than Your will, and have fended agast Your holy laws our selfishness. We have consistently turned on ourselves, focusg on our own terests, attendg to our own ambitions and wishes without sufficient thought for others and for Your will. Cleanse the thoughts our hearts by the spiration Your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love You and worthily magnify Your holy name, through Christ our Lord. Amen. * The Gospel s Assurance Pardon 1 Peter 2:9 10 ESV But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies him who called you out darkness to his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. * Hymn 177: O Could I Speak the Matchless Worth Ariel (Children age 4 and 5 may leave to attend their program.) * Offerg Prayer * Congregation standg
