1 O * H * I * O AMBASSADOR Volume 55 Number 2 March April 2015 The Voice of Ohio Free Will Baptists Proclaiming The Words of Christ to a Lost World VICTORY IN JESUS! By Mike Gladson, Pastor of the Canaan FWB Church Easter Issue Easter Issue B ernhard Langer is a professional golfer with a distinguished golfing career. He has won two Masters Tournaments, which for a professional golfer is the pinnacle of a career. His last Masters he won was on Easter Sunday in As he walked off the green and was being interviewed a reporter said to him, this must be the greatest day of your life. Here was his response: This is the greatest day in my golfing career but I have to say that it doesn t compare with the fact that 2000 years ago my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ rose from the dead to give me eternal life. What a testimony! The greatest victory in a Christian s life is not anything that can be personally achieved but what Christ achieved for us at His resurrection. The truth that Christ is victor is a vital theme throughout the New Testament. Even when it looked like defeat was inevitable when angry mobs crucified Him, Jesus pulled out the victory by His death and resurrection. 1 Corinthians 15 is about the message of the victory achieved by the resurrection. Paul builds his case of the victory of the resurrection by stating the defeat had there not been a resurrection. There would be no message to proclaim had He not risen on the third day. *1 Cor 15:14 if Jesus is not alive, I m wasting my time. *1 Cor 15:17 if Jesus is not alive, there is no hope for the sin problem. *1 Cor 15:18 if Jesus is not alive, there will be no glad reunion day. Paul concludes the chapter by declaring victory because Jesus rose again. Every Christian has a victorious testimony because Jesus did rise again. Because of His resurrection, there is victory for the believer because of the victory of Jesus. There is Victory over Death I Corinthians 15:54 55 states: So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? These verses make the declaration that Christ conquered death by His resurrection. Death strikes fear into the heart of the bravest soul. Death breaks relationships of a husband and wife, disrupts families, and causes great grief in the loss of those dear to us. My mother walked through death s door in January. I understand the pain and hurt of the separation caused by death. Death invades and torments us while we are mortal. Rather than speak of death plainly, we have developed euphemisms to avoid the mention of it. We say, they passed on or they went to their reward. We must be reminded that there is no fear in death for the Christian. Death is a bridge over which we pass from the realm of time to eternity. The doom that was pronounced upon Adam is removed and the result is victory because Jesus lives! In 1 Corinthians 15:23 28 Paul had argued that the resurrection was a divine necessity, inaugurated through the resurrection of Christ, as God s way of destroying the last enemy, death. When mortality is clothed with immortality, death has lost both its victory and sting. The sting has been nullified and the serpent s bite rendered harmless by the conquering resurrection of Christ. No more can death tyrannize us, because it has been swallowed up by resurrection. This terrifying enemy that so relentlessly pursues every person has been vanquished from the field of battle. Death is seen as being swallowed down in one triumphant overcoming victory. 1 Corinthians 15:56 says The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. In Paul s writings, sin is a deadly poison that leads to death. The reason Christ died is for our sins. (1 Corinthians 15:3). If He did not rise, we are still in our sins (1 Corinthians 15:17). Paul was not saying that the law was sinful. In Romans 5 and 7, Paul affirmed the divine origin of the law and spoke of the commandment as being holy, just, and good. The problem was that men could not succeed in keeping the law, hence, the failure to keep the law made that good and holy commandment of God become the standard by which men were judged. Paul stated in Romans 4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. The failure of man to meeting the standard of perfection required by the law identifies man as transgressor and therefore a sinner. Both sin and death have been nullified by the victory gained through Jesus Christ. Jesus both fulfilled the law and fulfilled righteousness. Because His life was sinless and therefore fulfilled the law, His death conquered sin! For Christians death has no more power. Hebrews 2:14 15 says, Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For Christians death is but the passing of our spirits from this life to the next, the leaving of the earth and going to be with Christ. In Christ s victory over death, death s sting is removed! Dr. Picirilli says it best: The resurrection is the unarguable evidence that our sins have been taken away and the penalty cancelled. Death cannot hold us. The effects of sin have been cancelled. The demands of the law have been satisfied. Such victory is full and final. Thankful for the Victory As Paul concludes his considerations of the resurrections, he could not but help but express thanksgiving to God for this victory. How can believers do anything but thank and praise God for what he has done for them? That which we could never do for ourselves God has done for us through our Lord Jesus Christ. That s shouting ground! When we think of the amazing work of the cross and the power of His resurrection a deep sense of indebtedness fills our souls as we realize the tremendous work that is attributed to Christ. We are grateful for His great gift to us. Salvation is considered as a gift from God as stated in Romans 6:23. Paul makes it clear that he did nothing to obtain this victory thru any human merit. God did it all! It is true that the victory is ours because it will be demonstrated in us. This victory is through our Lord Jesus Christ. The winning of the Masters golf tournament for Bernhard Langer on Easter Sunday 1993 was prestigious and gratifying. But I believe he got it right as he recognized the greatest victory ever for all humanity was an empty tomb on the first Easter morning. Because He lives, I can have eternal life. Because He lives, there is victory over man s greatest enemy and that victory is only attained through Jesus Christ.

He made the point that we must humble ourselves in order to experience revival. Brad Ransom, Jim McComas and Ken Akers, from National Home Missions and Master s Men gave a report. 3 OHIOAMBASSADOR PAGE 3 REDEEMER CELEBRATION SERVICE JANUARY 3, 2015 The day that we at Redeemer had waited for finally came to pass. We were going to be a self supporting church. The excitement was in the air and the Holy Spirit was present in the service. Several had come from other churches to share in this service. The State Mission Board was present and Brother The New Redeemer FWB Church Edwin Hayes brought the message. The Redeemer choir provided some wonderful selections followed by Sister Becky Wiant singing with her friend, Rosalie. All of this brought great joy to everyone present. Brother Edwin brought a marvelous message on Taking a Stand. Then the invitation was given and, as we were singing, a gentleman came forward to be saved and following close behind him was his wife. This couple was from the Urbana church. What made all of this even more wonderful was the fact that Dottie The Altar Service at the Celebration and I, along with the Urbana and the Woodstock churches, had been praying for this couple for years. They were good friends of ours. Oh, what a blessing! Brother Edwin often says doing together what we cannot do alone. This night is a great example of that being true. Redeemer church would not be in existence if it had not been for Brother Tim McKnight having a desire to see a church in this area. And then, all of the churches that have shared in supporting the work, not only in finances but in your prayers. The Bible tells us that one plants, another waters, and God gives the increase. Maybe this couple would have been saved at another time, but I am glad they were there for that service and God spoke to their hearts and they responded. Some may say that it isn t worth it to spend so much in mission work, but we all know the price of a soul. The Master paid for our soul with his life so we could be saved. As someone who has pastored for many years, I can say that it is not easy starting a church from nothing. The men who answer the call to go and start a new work will tell you that it is more difficult today than it has been in the past. And I can say, AMEN to that. Most of us have a difficult time even gaining a few new people in our established churches. I m saying all of this because we have a State Mission Board who has been given the directive to start new churches. If we want them to do their job, we need to be aware that they cannot do it alone. It will take more funds and more prayer and more people answering the call to maybe leave a comfortable church and go with a preacher to start a new work. We don t know whose friend may come to the altar in a new work, but they are someone that somebody has been praying for. I need to finish this out by saying thank you to all of you who have been faithful in supporting us and the work at Redeemer. Dottie and I thank you for allowing us to serve the Lord and to do the work that we feel God has called us to. We still need your prayers and we will pray for you and your church. Don and Dottie Hix D6 Conference Announces 2015 Theme REFINE A multi model family ministry event for your whole team, the D6 Conference is a place to learn about God s original plan for discipleship and how that applies in our ministries and homes. September 16 18, 2015 Louisville, KY The D6 Conference will once again host a national event based on the principles of Deuteronomy 6. For the first time since 2012, this annual gathering will meet under one roof as parents and ministry leaders from across the country and around the world convene to be inspired and learn practical strategies for generational discipleship. Content will center around the theme REFINE as attendees at D6 wrestle with refining their strategy for discipleship. The theme passage of Ephesians 3:20 21 implies the importance of our effort and imagination while helping us realize God s role to inspire and bless our ministries. It is in this vein that we ask for His wisdom in reaching every generation with the message of the gospel. This overarching philosophy lends itself to every ministry of the church. Ministry leaders experience programming that reaches topics related to men, women, youth, children, marriage, family leadership, divorce, special needs care, and more. D6 Conference director Ron Hunter, We continue to see churches bring their whole team and lay volunteers to plan, get ideas, and just learn together. The 2015 D6 Conference in Louisville, Kentucky will feature over 50 breakouts as well as dynamic communicators from the main stage who challenge attendees to reflect on our current approach to family ministry. Intentional time will be provided for this reflection for those traveling with a team along with networking opportunities for those looking to connect with other leaders in their field. Conference coordinator, Brandon Roysden, said, We continue to look for ways to connect people to one another and to strategies that can help them fulfill their mission and purpose. We think this is a place where teams can really catch a vision and go back with a plan to make it happen. D will take place September at The Galt House in Louisville, Kentucky. Join with other leaders just like you who want to understand God s plan for healthy churches and healthy homes and find the latest resources from dozens of vendors dedicated to equipping ministries and families with the tools they need. A growing list of speakers will be made available online at d6conference.com along with schedules, travel accommodations, and frequently asked questions. We rejoice in each day God gives us and are especially looking forward to warmer weather when our pastor will begin a mid week series on spiritual gifts. We also rejoice each Sunday when our sister Emma Spradlin blesses our souls with a song or two to begin our special singing. God blessed Emma with 97 years of life on February 26th The Northern Ohio Youth Camp has provided a week of thrilling Youth Camp to Churches of Northern Ohio for the past 5 years. Each year God has blessed us with His amazing presence, over 60 confessions of Salvation, innumerable re dedications, as well as lasting friendships among the lives of those who have attended. We give God all of the glory for what He has done in the last 5 years. In addition we have seen a great number of churches join our Youth Camp in the last five yours, however this has led to a problem in finding a location large enough to accommodate our needs. This year the NOYC Is very excited to announce a new location in Mendon Ohio. With this new location we have nearly unlimited space, with enough room to accommodate many more churches and Youth Groups. For this reason we are pleased to offer open enrollment for FWB Churches all across Ohio to join the Northern Ohio Youth Camp. We are greatly blessed by what God is doing in the lives of Youth all across Ohio, and invite you to be a part of what is going on! If any individuals, youth groups, youth leaders, or pastors are interested in learning more information regarding the NOYC please feel free to contact our Camp Coordinator Josh Sorrell call/txt (419) , us at fwb.youthcamp@yahoo.com, or view our Facebook Page Keyword: Northern Ohio Youth Camp. We hope you will prayerfully consider joining the NOYC family for our 2015 Youth Camp. and she is still sharing her gift. Our little church is especially thankful for a pastor who each week gives his congregation a message explaining salvation in such a way that even a little child can understand. Another reason to rejoice! David Trusty, Pastor Sue Smith, Reporter VICTORY (CAPITAL CITY) This year, it seems as though spring has been a little slow arriving because of all the snow and freezing temperatures in Feb. We know that the times and seasons are in God's hands. Spring is a great time of year, and as we are praying for revival, we need a renewal of the Holy Spirit and a closer walk with the Lord. We are looking forward to Easter to celebrate the crucifixion and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Without Him, we would have no hope, peace, or promise of eternal life. Feb. 22nd, three more kids were saved in the morning service. I would like to report that since our last report five kids were saved and ready for baptism. It is such a joy to know that when we are saved, we have that blessed hope. Remember to pray for the shut ins and so many that have been ill this winter. Have a blessed Easter, and may God grant us a hopeful spirit, a steady vision, and a persistent faith. Jim Thompson, Pastor Jean Holmes, Reporter UNITY GALION (CUYAHOGA LORAIN) Hello! The Unity FWB Church in Galion has been busy so far this year. On Feb. 7th we had our Combined Church Bowling Challenge. This is a friendly competition with our brothers and sisters from Paradise FWB and Mansfield FWB churches. This year, the first place trophy went to Mansfield FWB Church. Congratulations to Pastor Mark Bailey and his team! We were finally able to hold our adult Valentines party after a one week delay due to our beautiful Ohio weather. There were games and lots of fun and laughter. A good time was had by all. Our youth group went Ice Skating in Wooster. They had a great time and are now planning on future activities. Love and prayers to all! Dave Bates, Pastor Dottie Pugh, Reporter GOOD HOPE (CUYAHOGA LORAIN) Greetings from the Good Hope Church. We are sure everyone is looking forward to spring and getting out of this cold weather. We have had to close church several times this winter. That is a hard call to make, but some of the weather we have been having is just not safe to be out in. We have also had quite a lot of sickness; pray for them. Some are facing cancer. We had a Valentine party for our young people and on Sunday night, Feb. 23rd, they made a trip to Cleveland for a Christian concert. We appreciate the adults who went with them. We have a great group of young people and it is a blessing to work with them. We are looking forward to the conference in April. Hopefully the weather will be better than the Jan. conference. We thank God for the blessings He gives to our church. We have a great church and are looking for this year to see many saved. Pray for all our churches that we can see great things happen this year. After a 2 year courtship, they married in 1960 and started their family in Free Will Baptist Home Missions Trymon Messer A Unique Soldier of the Cross With much respect, the Free Will Baptist Home Missions Department announces the heavenly home going of General Director Trymon Messer (Retired). Brother Messer went to be with the Lord on January 10, After 23 years with the Home Missions Department (17 years as associate director and six as general director) Trymon Messer said that he was retiring and going fishing. We aren t sure just how much fishing in the lake he actually did, but he never stopped fishing for souls for the Lord. He continued to travel and preach, crisscrossing the nation. He was a tireless worker for his local church. As you know, he never made any pretense about having a limited education. He never felt the call to be ordained. Yet, the Lord used this layman in a mighty way for His work and for the Free Will Baptist denomination throughout his life. Not only was he a faithful soldier of the cross, he faithfully served in the United States Marine Corps as well. Among his many accomplishments, Trymon Messer shared his burden and vision for church growth within the Free Will Baptist denomination. He introduced the team concept for missionaries going out to plant churches, and he accepted the challenge of forming the Cross Cultural Ministry. Trymon Messer was one of a kind. May the lives he touched, influenced, and won for the Lord reach out and continue to win the lost. A favorite accomplishment of his was the penning of the book entitled God Did It, an autobiography of his life. If you would like a copy of this book, please contact the Home Missions Department at MawMaw is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jim Schrienk; daughters, Debbie (Steve) Saunders, Sue (David) Evans, and sons Jim Schrienk II and Rob Schrienk Sr. 18 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers in law. MawMaw was a very active longtime member of North FWB Church where she was devoted to her ladies aide group. She taught Sunday school for many years where she became MawMaw to all the children in her classes. She was a willing and ready helper in all church activities. In addition to her dedication to her church, she was also committed to the ladies group at Neoacacia Lodge, the Neo Queens. MawMaw made many friends with the Neo Queens as well as the Lodge. Funeral services were held Feb. 19th, at North FWB Church with Rev. Kyle Chadwick officiating. 7 OHIOAMBASSADOR PAGE 7 HAMILTON GLADES (PORTER) This will be a short report as we have had several services canceled due to the weather in January and February. Our church has grown as we've welcomed two baby boys to our congregation. Nash Oliver was born to Jarrod and Lacey Mullins in November and Parker James was born to Blake and Jill Downing in January. We gained two more when Bill and Kim Walk recently took membership. On February 15th we had our " Souper Sunday" which had been re scheduled several times due to the weather. It was a good time of food and fellowship after our morning service. Daylight savings time and springtime is just around the corner and the glorious time of the year that we celebrate our Savior s resurrection! Blessings from the little white church in the cornfield. Jim Dummitt, Pastor Jenny Dummitt, Reporter HILLSBORO (CORNERSTONE) Here in Hillsboro we have been watching it snow like the rest of you. Those big beautiful snowflakes that we as Christians know is the amazing work of the Lord, "NO MAN" could do anything like that. We had our Evangelist Day in Jan. with Bro. Freddy Dutton, we heard the good word and enjoyed a good meal with him and Terry and some of their family. We had to cancel our Pastor Appreciation Day in Feb. Now we are shooting for Mar. 8th in our 10:30 service. We will have special singing and a meal afterwards. We had a great Valentine Dinner Feb.14th. Everyone had a fun time. We thank all of you who have been praying for our Deacon Bro. Lewis and his family. He is up and going again and is able to be in almost every service. Just keep holding them up because God is still in the prayer answering business. In closing we would like to wish you all a wonderful Easter season, with the joy in knowing " HE HAS RISEN " and that we have the assurance in knowing we are on our way to Heaven as long as we keep the faith and do his will. Keep praying for us as we will you! Richard Burns, Pastor Vicki Johnson, White Reporter PETREA When God pours out His blessings, we do not know what form they will take. The snow is one way God has of getting cold and flu germs to die, so we hope the snow has made a difference. There has been so much sickness this winter, our prayers are that God will guide and watch over His people and take care of their needs. The snow was about 9" in our area and it was like old times. Neighbors, friends and family shoveled snow, took the time to plow in areas that the township had not got to and made sure families had food supplies. We have caring people and for that I am grateful. Everyone all over the states worked into the night so we would be safe.god is so good. Due to snowfall and some road conditions, our church has only been able to hold one Sunday Service this month. Safety for people came first. Spring will be here before long and then we can thank the Lord for the days He has bestowed on His people and the beautiful flowers of spring. The words of David, Psalm 100:1 5 says it all. May God keep each and everyone of His children in His loving care. Arthur Robinson, Pastor Jacqueline Wyatt, Reporter URBANA (CENTRAL OHIO) Greetings in the name of our Lord. We pray that everyone has survived the winter weather and are looking forward to the coming spring. We had to cancel a couple of services due to the snow, but still the Lord is good. In January we were blessed to have Bro. Wandell Tony preach for us. He delivered a very inspiring message. In February we were blessed to have Violet Maynard and her family. It is always a blessing to us when they visit. The men once again lost the contest that we had for the collection of money for the missions. They treated all the ladies to a special Valentine Dinner at Der Dutchman Restaurant in Plain City. This was enjoyed by all who attended. Our annual budget and business meeting with election of church offices was held in January. Several in our church family have health problems, surgeries and illness. We ask that you keep them in your prayers that God will touch them. Trusting God may not make a mountain smaller, but will make the climbing easier. We pray you will be able to climb all your mountains today and every day. We hope you have blessed days ahead! In Christ love. Grant Cordell, Pastor Barbi Johnson, Reporter MARYSVILLE (CENTRAL OHIO) Psalms 86:11 Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. We have had a lot of sickness in our church this winter. Due to sickness and bad weather, we have had to dismiss some of our services. Everyone is ready for spring. Sister Jo Rooks had back surgery Feb. 2nd. Keep her in your prayers as she continues to recuperate. I hope that everyone has a joyous Easter. Keith Monroe, Pastor Annie Marlowe, Reporter BUCYRUS (NORTHERN OHIO) Greetings from the Bucyrus FWB church family. We're all looking forward to spring. We're thankful for God's blessing us. We were blessed with a special service on Sunday, February 15th. Bro. Corey Carroll was our visiting minster and the Bucyrus Singers were our special singers. They were truly a blessing to all who were able to attend. Our church is blessed with a wonderful pastor, Bro. Lyle Arnett and his wife Mary. In times like these we need to remember all our church family. We'd like to thank Brothers Lewis Copley and Brian Amburgey for being our visiting ministers. They were a great blessing to us all. Please keep us in your prayers. Until next time, may God richly bless each and every one of you. Lyle Arnett, Pastor Phyllis Morgan, Reporter BEECH GROVE (FRANKLIN) Greetings from Beech Grove FWB Church. We would like to express our thanks to everyone who has been praying for our small church group. We hope that with spring around the corner our attendance will be better. Sadly we lost another member. Sarah Marie Dunn passed away January 13th at the University of Cincinnati Hospital. We know that her illness prevented her from attending church for over three years and she has been sadly missed. She was a member of our choir and loved to sing. Please pray for Pastor Joe Pinkerton. He has lost another member of his extended family, a dear aunt who was like a second mother to him. We are praying for our upcoming revival weekend with Evangelist Tim Case on March 21st at 7pm and the 22nd at 10:45 and 6pm. We pray that he will bring an uplifting blessing to our hearts and much encouragement. Rev. Edwin Hayes will be visiting us April 19th at 10am and the 10:45am service. We look forward to hearing some very good teaching and the message. A dear sister of one our trustees and deacon, Bro. Roy Eckart, Carol Pearl Ferguson is very ill with throat cancer. We would appreciate your intense efforts to pray for her comfort and well being. Prayer is not a small matter, it is a great heart giving effort for our loved ones and thank you. Joe Pinkerton, Pastor Gloria Kidder, Reporter

9 OHIOAMBASSADOR PAGE 9 OYC Dates of Note in 2015 Daryl Grimes Family Missionaries to Erie, PA Help Us Reach our Goal When we purchased 2.5 acres last summer I asked God to enable us to pay off our land within a year so we could begin saving money to build a much needed facility on the land we have purchased. Month after month He has chosen to show Himself strong to us by prompting so many of our church people, as well as our supporters and supporting churches around the country to give toward our Land Fund! We thank Him and praise Him so much for how He has come through time after time. We only have a few more months left to meet our goal and we want to ask YOU to pray along with us that we would be able to reach this goal by July 1st! We know it will have to be a God thing for this to happen, but the God we serve and the God that called us to Erie, Pa can make it happen! 10 OHIOAMBASSADOR PAGE 10 Our Free Will Baptist Heritage Cuyahoga Lorain Conference Free Will Baptist History from a Buckeye Perspective "Unsung Heroes" "So the last shall be first, and the first last..." Matthew 20:16a Recently I was preaching a revival at the Urbana Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Grant Cordell. During one of my sermons, I was talking about the "unsung heroes" of the Church those faithful church members who serve year after year with little publicity or fanfare. I did a quick survey of the congregation and to my surprise There were several in attendance who had been saved and working for the Lord in Free Will Baptist Churches for over 50 years. Rev. Jim McComas Gene and Delores Instine were two of those folks. Gene and Delores worked for many years in the Woodstock Church, but when they moved from out in the country closer to town, they began attending the Urbana Church, where they have been for more than 30 years. Anyone who has attended services at Urbana over the years probably have seen Gene leading the music and Delores playing the piano at one time or the other. Workshop Saturday, March 21, :30-12:00 PM Cleveland FWB Church 4676 W 11th Street Cleveland, Ohio A.J. Dooley was also in the revival service that night. Brother Dooley accepted Christ as a small child at the Charlie Free Will Baptist Church up a holler outside Louisa, Kentucky. He has spent a lifetime faithfully serving the Lord and the Free Will Baptist denomination here in Ohio. Brother A.J. Is a long time member at the Springfield Free Will Baptist Church. A.J.'s son, Tom, pastor of the Austintown Church, shared with me how his dad faithfully drove a church bus for many years, carrying children to Sunday School. Tom says when he goes home to visit and is out somewhere with his dad, there will always be someone come up to them and say "Hey, aren't you Brother Dooley? I used to ride your bus to Sunday school!" While still in the revival meeting in Urbana, one afternoon I stopped by to visit sister Eva Fraley who was in a local rehab center recovering from broken hip that had been injured in a fall. Sister Eva, her husband Clifton (who has gone home to be with the Lord), and their family have been long time friends of our family and faithful foundational members of the Rosedale Church. As I visited with sister Eva, she recounted their time of service at Rosedale, which dates back to the churches founding in She shared of the precious memories she had of the many years in God's house with God's people. She talked of the many areas of service she used to be involved in, but lamented the fact that the years had left her physically unable to do what she used to do. Then, with a smile on her face, she said, "But I'm still happy in the Lord, and I can still praise Him!" As I write this article and think about other "unsung heroes" my mind goes back to the Canaan Church I pastored for 21 years. So many faithful saints have already gone on to their heavenly reward many who were relatively unknown in our denomination. Names such as Ralph Smith, Okey Lewis, Tony and Zelma Tawney, Hatzell Cain, Jerry Hackworth, Hester Casteele, Marcella Daniels, Odell Robertson, Ben and Laura Ramsier, Sylvia Workman and a host of others flooded my mind. When we talk of Free Will Baptist History, we mention names such as Randall, Buzzell and Dunn, and well we should. When we think of Ohio Free Will Baptist History, we remember Atwood, Colby, and Marks, all worthy of honor. But I believe when the rewards are given in heaven one day, many "unsung heroes" will rise and be placed at the head of the line: faithful laymen and women who taught Sunday School classes, paid the bills, filled the pews and supported their pastor and their church year after year with no praise or plaudits. This Ohio Free Will Baptist history article is dedicated to the "unsung heroes" of the past and present. We salute you! Even though we have experienced one of the coldest Februarys on record, we have still been blessed to be in church each Sunday morning. We are thankful for the Lord's protection during our travels and the many blessings and provisions He gives us each week! Since our last report we have been with 9 churches, 27 meetings, and have seen over 30 altar decisions with many needs being met at the altars. This is always a special day for us and we always look forward to this time. The Hillsboro Church has had an Evangelist Day for us since the beginning of this ministry of evangelism and we are forever grateful and thankful for their love and generosity to us! Another special highlight was on Feb. 22. We were privileged to be with Pastor James Webb and the High Street FWB Church for their deacon ordination/installation service. This was a very special service with the deacon ordination, a new member received into the church family, and a dinner following the service. This day was a "great blessing"for all in attendance! 12 OHIOAMBASSADOR PAGE 12 ZALESKI Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Proverbs 29:18 Our pastor Ferrell Rood and his wife Nancy will be celebrating their 39th anniversary by being at our church in March. They came here with their love for the Lord and a vision for the Zaleski. Today, 39 years later, they still have that vision. We congratulate them on their anniversary and thank them for all they have done for us. We love and appreciate them very much. They are very special to us. We thank the Lord for His many blessings and answered prayers in our church. We ve had special singing that has uplifted our hearts and special preaching that has fed our souls. Mark Rood attended the men s retreat in January. He came back, revived and excited with a new dedication to the Lord. The winter has been hard on the seniors with their health. We d like for your church to keep them and our youth in your prayers. Satan enjoys tearing people down and making things look good for the youth so he can ensnare them. We send our love and sympathy to Sandy Womeldorf and children on the death of her husband, Winston. He was very special to our church family. He ll be sadly missed. Please remember them in your prayers. We have been praying for revival and are looking forward to making plans for our VBS to try and reach the youth for Jesus. We wish you all a truly blessed Easter. Remember the real meaning of Jesus and the cross. Jesus died for us so we can live for Him. Remember the military, their families, our nation, our leaders and our nursing home ministry in your prayers. Tell someone you love them and really mean it! Ferrell Rood, Pastor Linda McKibben, Reporter ANTIOCH (PINE CREEK) Good day to all from Antioch FWB Church! Today is Feb. 20th and I'm up singin` this mornin`. Oh precious is the flow, that makes me white as snow. No other fount I know. NOTHIN` but the blood of Jesus! Isn't it amazing how the sun (SON) makes the snow even whiter! WOW! Anyhow, God has so blessed us her at our litl` church on the hill with love, kindness, caring and fellowship. We are blessed to have had these events so here we go: Stayin Alive Revival Feb th with preacher Tim Case, a Valentines dinner on the 15th (our youth decorated the fellowship hall beautifully), singing from the Diehl Family March 1st. We are planning an Easter play by our youth on Good Friday, April 3rd, at 7:00pm and again on Easter morning April 5th, 9:45am. We are looking forward to special singing from Diehl Family Sat., April 4th at 7:00pm with our Pastor Rick Henderson preaching. Our Spring Revival will be April 6 10th, 7:00pm with preacher Mike McCoy. Our VBS will be on June 15th with KICK OFF VBS picnic on June 13th We have nursing home visits three Sundays a month and four weekdays. Our youth "Jesus Police" meet every Wed. at 7:45pm. After worship service starts they are dismissed to the fellowship hall. We ask that every brother and sister out there pray for us here at Antioch. Pray for the lost, our sick, our pastor and his wife and family, children and teachers. We will pray for you all. I will end with a question: I wonder how many snow flakes are on the ground? Answer: Our God knows! Come on over and visit with us here on the hill. Love and prayers and God bless all! Rick Henderson, Pastor Tammy Knappenberger, Reporter EASTMONT (LITTLE MIAMI) Greetings from the Eastmont FWB Church. The church has undergone some changes recently. Carl Hartman is now pastoring at the church. Our prayers and best wishes are with our former pastor, Rev. Mike Daniel. The church is beginning to grow and we have started Sunday School classes for the children coming to the church. We are preparing to start a youth group and we are praying that God will continue to bless the church as we work towards serving Him in ministry to young people. We held both Christmas and Valentine s Day dinners. Both events went very well and resulted in great times of fellowship with those who attend the church as well as visitors from other churches. We learned that not only can Keith Trimble make the piano sing; he can cook! The church recently had a young man at the altar to renew his relationship with Christ and become as close to Him as he once was. Remember this man in prayer that God would continue to bless him. Pray for the church that God will help it grow for His sake and that souls are saved as a result of the work of the church. Carl Hartman, Pastor Tammy Hartman, Reporter

13 OHIOAMBASSADOR PAGE 13 Thought for the Month And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ and him crucified. I Corinthinans 2:1 2 NEW HOPE (PORTER) Blessings to you from New Hope! Since our last report, we have started a Bible reading plan for the whole church to participate in called E100. One hundred days of scripture readings where every one is reading the same scripture. It has been very encouraging to us. On Jan. 25th we had a Bible quiz night where we divided into teams and answered questions taken from our daily Bible readings about Joseph and his brothers. Afterward we enjoyed pizza and fellowship. Pastor George has been preaching a series of messages from the letters to the 7 churches in the book of Revelation. The messages have been very insightful and challenging. We have had two deaths in our extended church family in the month of February. Lona Miller's husband, Don Miller and Kathy Crabtree's father, Jim Robinson. Both of these men had received Christ as their Saviour. Our love and sympathy continues to go out to Lona and to Kathy during this difficult time. Our church ladies did an outstanding job of providing bereavement dinners to both families. We want to thank Mike Crabtree, Craig Crabtree, David Days and church neighbor Ron Caldwell for their hard work in snow removal for our church parking lot. We are all looking forward to the month of March in which we have several special services happening and also to Easter season and the arrival of spring. George Grice, Pastor Lena Grice, Reporter CROSS POINTE (STATE LINE) Hello from Lancaster and from all of us at Cross Pointe Church. The newest venture for our church has been the organization of a new ladies ministry, called H.I.S, which stands for Hearts In Service. The organization has been headed by Sharleen Shumaker, and the first meeting was held on February 15th. Twenty ladies attended and the suggested ministries for the coming year were met with enthusiasm. Our trio, Cross Pointe, has been busy working on their newest CD. We are all looking forward to its release. Plans are underway for the ten year anniversary for Cross Pointe. This will be celebrated in April, and I will be reporting on this event in our next Ambassador article. God s blessings to all of you as we look forward to spring and warmer weather. Bill C. Pitts, Pastor Mary Lou Marsh, Reporter NORTHRIDGE Greetings from Northridge. We praise God for letting us see His blessings on us. The Holy Spirit has been moving in our services, and in the hearts of God s people. We have witnessed in the last few months, people accepting Jesus, baptisms, as well as many coming back to the Lord. We are excited to have had, ordination services of two more ministries God has called from our church body. We ve had two others go to Haiti already this year for spreading the gospel and helping to build homes. It brings to mind a scripture, but for those of us still working for the Lord, I hope to encourage you with these blessed words: And let us know be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9 We are praying for God to bless our future events: 3/15 11am Jose Lois Rivera, Former Light heavyweight Champion of the World. 3/28 5pm Camp Fundraiser (Spaghetti Dinner), 3/29 6pm Feetwashing/Communion at 6pm 4/3 Good Friday Service at 7pm, 4/4 Easter Party/Egg Hunt 10:30am 2pm, 4/5 Sunrise Service at 7am (no evening service) with Easter service at 11am also. 4/11 & 25 Working at Youth for Christ Camp 4/27 thru 5/1 Revival with Brother Frankie Hunt. Please enjoy listening to our weekly radio ministry, Sunday s at 2:30 PM, Station WGNZ 1110 AM for more details on our upcoming events. We are also streaming live over USTREAM. You can connect via your computer to the link or go through Facebook to connect: fwbc. This has proven to be a great blessing to our members who can no longer come to church. In His service, Tim Hamilton, Pastor Teresa Poynter, Reporter FREDERICK (PINE CREEK) Greetings from Frederick Church. Once again time has rolled by again, with a very cold and snowy winter and it isn t over yet. The good Lord has a reason for everything in this world of ours. We just have to trust and have faith in him. The church had to cancel a few services due to bad weather. I would like to say thank you to Omar Gast who took the time to clear the road to the church and also the parking area. During the last few months we have had one give his heart to the Lord and our pastor has baptized five in the old fashion way, the cold water of the creek. We pray for our new converts that as they live for Christ that they learn the way of the Bible and that their Savior loves them. We pray that the Lord shows them the way as they begin their new lives in Christ. We also want ask you to remember a few people in prayer at this time: Sharon Brady, Bobbie McGraw, Joyce Smith, Geneva Ball and Charles Greene. The Lord knows all of their needs at this time, but please say a prayer for them and the ones who were saved. May God bless you and all of the churches. Also please remember Frederick Church in your prayers. Matthew 14:36 And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole. Rusty Larter, Pastor Randy Howard, Reporter HIGH STREET (NORTH & WESTERN) On January 18 we celebrated the new year by having a communion and feetwashing service. Like Christ reminded us in the scripture, "Do this in remembrance of Me", it does our hearts good to remember what Christ has done for us on the cross of Calvary. Sometimes life gets so busy that we forget to stop and take the time to just be with God and remember all He has done for us in our lives. We forget the importance of being with other believers celebrating God and letting our brothers and sisters encourage us to keep moving forward. After all isn't that why God has called us each to different churches down here on earth? With our pastors having a communion & feet washing service they have reminded us that even though life sometimes seems too big for us we still have a Creator that is even bigger & knows how to handle our problems down here while we wait for His coming. February 22nd, Bro. Kenneth Hopson w a s ordained as a deacon for our church. You can always count on Bro. Hopson and know he will be there to greet you with a smile and an encouraging word to brighten your day. Bro. Freddy Dutton & his wife Terry attended the service. Bro. Dutton preached that day full of encouragement and devotion to Christ. After the service we all enjoyed a dinner and fellowship. Please keep our church in your prayers as we continue to encourage one another and start new adventures for this year coming. James Webb, Pastor Wendy Wolford, Reporter FLEMING AVENUE (NORTHERN OHIO) Greetings from the little red roof church in Lorain. Our pastor Bro. Rick Sutter resigned Feb. 15th as our pastor as of Feb. 27th. He is leaving in fellowship and we will miss him and his family. So that means we need a pastor, but we will be patient and wait on God to send us a good man who will guide us in the right way. In the meantime we will still have prayer services and singing. Come visit us when your can. May God bless you all from your brothers and sisters at Fleming Avenue FWB in Lorain. Arnold Hughes, Deacon Darlene Baker, Reporter SHELBY (NORTHERN OHIO) I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread Psalms 37:25 Ecclesiaste tells us that every thing has its season, and there is a time to every purpose under the heaven. It is with no small amount of emotion that we announce that after 25 years, our pastor, Bro. Herman Copley, feels it is time for him to retire from pastoring the Shelby Church. Bro. Herman has been preaching for 50 years and has pastored several churches during that time, including Bethel, Dean Road, and twice at Shelby. He even pastored a second church in Lorain for a while during his time at Shelby. While no longer pastoring, he is not done preaching; he still plans to evangelize as much as possible. Though hard to put into words, he would like to express his appreciation for all those who have supported him over his many years of service for God. Bro. Matt Pond has taken over the pastorship of the Shelby Church. In honor of Bro. Herman and his wife Gay, the church will be having a service on Saturday, March 7th at 10:00 to celebrate his retirement. Bro Mike and Sister Theresa Blanton will be there to sing, and Bro Mike will be preaching the sermon. We continue to pray that God blesses Bro. Herman and his ministry; in the words of Psalms 37, The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord; and he delighteth in his way. Matt Pond, Pastor Heather Brown, Reporter UNITED (CAPITAL CITY) Greetings from United FWB Church Massillon. Matthew 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. Are you ready to meet the Lord? This may be the year of the Lord s return. As we all are looking forward to Spring arriving soon, we are tired of the cold and snow the past few weeks that has hindered a lot of us getting out to church. We here at UFBC have had a great few months with two people joining our church as members. On February 1st, we had a special Sunday Bring a Buddy and a Bowl which we all bought a buddy with us that day and enjoyed great singing from the group Old Path from Canaan FWB Church in Creston and Pastor Randy preaching. Following our service is where the bowl comes in, we had an ice cream social with several types of ice cream including homemade ice cream and toppings. It surely was a great day in the Lord with great fellowship of God s people. One of our members has had new signs made so people will be able to find our church from the ends of the road We were very blessed to have these done and for our special member to follow the Holy Spirit s guidance in doing this for the church. Psalm 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. We are looking forward to the spring time arriving with many activities being planned for our church. Happy spring and Easter to all our sister churches and remember, Christ is risen! Randy Keffer, Pastor Faye Gray, Reporter TROY (LITTLE MIAMI) Greetings from Troy! Winter is almost over and spring is just around the corner! Soon we will see the trees budding, spring flowers coming up through the earth and the grass will turn green reminding us of God s gift of rebirth through Jesus Christ! We continue to be blessed with great worship and Bible study services. We desire your prayers for our church to continue to grow. We have been down in numbers due to sickness and the weather. We are looking forward to spring! Until next time, may God bless you all! Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen Ephesians 3:20 21 Dwight Stump, Pastor Ethel Jones, Reporter

14 OHIOAMBASSADOR PAGE 14 HARRISON (PORTER) The last few months at Harrison have been tough, but the Lord is always there to meet our needs. For this we are truly thankful. Many of our members have been sick; and then the heavens opened, the snow descended, and the temperatures plummeted. This has had a detrimental effect on church services.soon though, spring will be here bringing warmer temperatures and a different type of bugs. With warmer temperatures will come VBS and another chance to share the knowledge of God's grace and saving power with the children who come. Please be much in prayer for this ministry. We will also be holding revival services March 29 April 1st. The speaker will be Bro. Fred Warner. We pray that you will take time to come out to these services and join with us as we worship the Lord. We are in the midst of our W.M.O. competition. We have set our goal and pray that we will be able to exceed it once again this year. The Lord has truly blessed us as we strive to help those who in many different parts of the world taking the word to those who are lost. We have truly seen that..".little is much when God is in it." Mike Mounts, Pastor Cecelia Lundy, Reporter BLOOM (PINE CREEK) Our church family has lost several dedicated members and friends from our congregation since our last report. Sheila Warnock, Jenny Baer, Ann McGowan, Betty Claxon Hagen, Kendall Piatt, Jimmy Kelly and Bob Conley have gone to their heavenly home, and will all be missed and cherished for their dedication to The Lord. Sis. Jenny was our clerk/treasurer and first director of VBS which she held those positions for over 25 years. She along with Sis. Betty sung in our church choir and with their families for over 70 years. Bro. Kendall sang and played his guitar for many years, and his testimony before he sung was always a blessing to hear. All of these dedicated loved ones will be remembered, and we pray for their dear families. The S.O.C.K.S youth group (Serving Others, Christ, King, and Savior) under the leadership of Sis. Cathy Sizemore honored our veterans, and they gave wonderful music and plays during the Christmas services. We enjoy Bro. Ryan Stockham leading the kids as they take care of the last service each month. Recently we have enjoyed the brother and sister team, Ryann singing, and Corbin Stockham playing guitar and piano in the youth services. Also, Hayley Klaiber has been offering sign language to beautiful hymns. We hope to start a handbell choir with our youth in the future, and several have donated to this in memory of Sis. Betty who worked with the little children's choir for many years. Revival is scheduled for April 20 25th with Bro. Joe Nelson preaching at 7:00 p.m. We recently had a young mother rededicate her life to the Lord and pray for Chelsea Piatt and her family. We look forward to seeing many come visit us during our revival and along with our Pastor Kenny, Associate Pastor Allen Harner, we welcome all as we pray for souls to be saved! Kenny Klaiber, Pastor Diana Claxon Stonerock, Reporter COALTON (JACKSON) Greetings to all in the name of our Lord. In January we held our annual elections and while most of the positions remained with the same workers we did have some new members who stepped up to fill needed positions. How thankful we are for willing hearts! We have also had those in our congregation who have a desire for nursing home ministry so we now have nursing home services scheduled each month in four different nursing homes. The youth held a Valentine Dinner where you could come and have an evening meal with your special someone. They had a good time serving those who came and good fellowship was enjoyed by all. We are blessed with a special group of young people who are willing to be spent for Jesus. We were blessed to hear Bros. Brandon DePriest and Ed Barney deliver the Word of God at our quarterly conference. It is a special blessing to be able to gather with our sister churches for a time of worship and praise. Please remember our church when you pray that we will always be a beacon for our Savior, Jesus Christ. God bless you all as we await the victory of the spring season. Tim Simpson, Pastor Sandra DeHart, Reporter REYNOLDSBURG (FRANKLIN) We are thankful for all that God has been doing here at Reynoldsburg and we are looking forward with anticipation to what He has in store for the future! We will be having a Sunday School Drive throughout the month of April and ending on Homecoming Sunday the 3rd of May. Come receive nourishment for the soul and body with our Executive Secretary, Edwin Hayes preaching, the True Gospels singing and a family meal following. Jerry Sargent, Pastor Regina Williams, Reporter LIGHTHOUSE (TRI STATE) Greetings to all my fellow Free Will Baptists, it is a pleasure to write this report and we are praising God as always. We recently purchased a TV for our fellowship hall and have been having movie night once a month. Watching uplifting movies such as Firestorm and Courageous. We also replaced our old tables and chairs in the fellowship hall. In January we had a soup and sandwich dinner after church and had a good time of fellowship. We had a sweetheart banquet on Valentine s Day and had a great time of fellowship and laughter. It wasn t just for couples, but for all who wanted to enjoy time together. Our outreach program is going strong. We gave all the food away in our food pantry and one of our members generously donated groceries to replenish our supplies. One of our members needed some gutters cleaned and our men went to help clean them. Our pastor celebrated his 70th birthday in February and we had planned a dinner, but due to the snow it has been postponed till next month. The men all got together on the 28th to have breakfast together. And because so many of you are a part of this ministry, you too can rejoice with us as we celebrate what God has been doing through Family Ministries. You can rejoice with us in that 109 young people made a decision for Christ and 10 followed Him in baptism in If anything should get Christian's excited, it should be hearing about others being saved, especially when your support helped make it possible! And for the last 15 years now, we have seen an average of 100 or more saved through this ministry. You can rejoice with us in that the Hope Center (Crisis Pregnancy/Resource Center) saw 109 babies born to the ladies we served in If it were not for your support of Family Ministries, many of those babies would have become another number in the abortion statistics. You played a part in that! You can rejoice with us in that we had 102 young people graduate from our Adolescent Alcohol and Drug Program in There is an epidemic of addiction among young people today, but you had a hand in helping these young people overcome this problem and know that they don't have to fight the fight alone... They can have Christ on their side! You can rejoice with us in that we have the unique opportunity to expand our services into the Charleston and Fort Worth area of Arkansas. Through the donation from a prominent business man in Charleston, Family Ministries has the property and the building to work with. It has been named the Maggie House, was named in honor of Maggie Schaffer. Maggie was the mother of the donor and original owner of the building. Our goal for the Maggie House will be to serve individual children as well as sibling groups. Despite living at the Maggie House, we will do everything possible to mirror a family atmosphere and structure. House parents will be employed to serve as surrogate parents for the children. This structure provides an example of what the family and the home was designed to look like. The story of the Maggie House is not simply about a building being renovated. Instead, it is a story about a movement, a Holy Spirit movement, and the effects of that movement on those who chose to be moved. We are eager to see what God has in store!! you have enjoyed a wonderful New Year! We started ours with a candlelight service on Jan. 4. Everyone lit their candle and gave their testimony. It was a blessing to hear all the testimonies, how good God has been to each of us! We thank Him for his many blessings. He is with us always even if the road gets a little rough. We would like to invite everyone to our Fellowship Singing on March 21 at 6:00. The Homebound Singers will be here to sing for us and Sister Cookie Goodin is making a spaghetti dinner after the singing. Please come and praise the Lord with us, we would love to have you. The winter has certainly been harsh, but we would not appreciate spring without it. We have been very busy the past few months in spite of the weather. We are currently exploring many church renovations as well as making preparation for the Easter season that will soon be upon us. We will be holding our communion service at the end of the month as well as our Easter egg hunt for all of the children to enjoy. There have been many prayers lifted for a revival at Westside over the past several months and we believe God is making preparation to send us our hearts desire. We are currently experiencing great loss within our church family as the year has begun. We lost several very dear members: Edith Blackburn, Gladys Newman and most recently Ron Cline. We ask that our brothers and sisters hold their families as well as our church family up in prayer as these were all extremely dedicated and beloved members at Westside. We believe going into the spring we will see a great move of God with souls saved and others who have already expressed their desire to be baptized soon. We will also continue to work with local outreach programs such as the Westside Free Store and others in an effort to support those close to us. As always we will continue to reach out to our local community with the gospel to be the light upon a hill for all to see. We are continually in prayer for all of the area churches and ministries. Respectfully submitted. Timothy Boyd, Pastor Jessica Boyd, Reporter GAHANNA (CORNERSTONE) Hello from Gahanna! We have an awesome God! He watched over us and kept us safe during this snowy winter. Praise The Lord, spring is right around the corner. Thank you to Bro. G W Prince for keeping the church parking lot cleared of ice and snow. His dedication to the parking lot and church landscaping is outstanding! We appreciate all our brothers and sisters who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our church beautiful! We were pleased to have Bro. Richard Martin preaching in our morning and evening service February 1st. He and his wife Lyla sang during our evening service. February 8th we had a surprise visit from Bro. Arnold Damron and his wife. He preached an awesome message and was a blessing to the church. We had several from the church attend the Ohio Men s Retreat. It was a blessed time for all the churches to join together to worship and fellowship. We have many members that have lost loved ones. Please pray for them during this time of sorrow. J ust relax! Spring will finally get here. Love to all our sister churches! Curtis Booth, Pastor Bonnie Justice, Reporter CLINE STREET (NORTHEASTERN) Hello everyone, hope you are staying warm and the weather isn t causing you to miss too much church. The poor weather also impacted a Caring Cans for Christ food distribution on a cold snowy day in February. We have scheduled another distribution for March. In January, Pastor Mike's momma in North Carolina, went home to be with her Savior. In February, Sylvia Workman, precious mother of our deacon, Brien Workman, also graduated to glory. Both of these home goings have been bittersweet for the Gladson and Workman families and for our Canaan Church family. Please pray for both these families. Wednesday nights have been exciting at Canaan. AWANA is in full swing. The kids really enjoyed participating in the Pinewood Derby. Pastor Mike has started a wonderful series on The Tabernacle... 16 OHIOAMBASSADOR PAGE 16 Welch College Signs Contract to Sell Campus Welch College has signed a contract to sell its campus on West End Avenue to Forestar Group Inc, an Austin, TX based real estate firm. Matt Pinson, president of Welch College, said today that 7.14 acres of the 7.6 acre campus are being sold for approximately $12 million. The lot containing the Welch Library is not included in the sale. Pinson noted the College s long history in the Richland West End area. We were founded here 72 years ago as Free Will Baptist Bible College, long before the area became one of Nashville s most appealing neighborhoods. We recognize the pride our neighbors have in this community and are happy to have found a buyer that intends to engage in meaningful dialogue with them about future plans for the property. Pinson said, We are pleased with the purchase price and are delighted to be under contract with Forestar. This firm is noted for taking a smart approach to master planned neighborhoods that are aligned with the needs of the larger community. Forestar brings the depth of experience and financial strength necessary to create a very special community on this ideally situated land. In addition, they bring a sensitive vision of how to transition the existing college campus back into the residential neighborhood in a manner that fits within the historic overlay and current zoning criteria, Pinson added. Representatives of the College and Forestar plan to meet during the next few weeks with Metro Councilman Jason Holleman and neighborhood leaders to initiate discussions and to set a framework for identifying and addressing community concerns. Pinson said the College is also working with the Metro Historical Commission regarding the Welch Library, the stone wall along Richland and Craighead Avenues and other historical features of the property. Chocowinity, North Carolina. Jimmie Carrington served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was an active member in his church and community. His legacy of selfless service and giving lives on through the generosity of his family and his practical understanding of Philippians 2:14 15, the heart of which in his own words explains that generosity is a natural part of the life of a believer because, Whatever you get is a gift from God. The gift provided new computers for the library and Student Center, new computers and software for the music department, installation of WIFI in the classroom building, and upgrades to WIFI in other student centered areas on campus. Welch College Vice President for Financial Affairs Craig Mahler said, The college cannot say enough to express our gratitude for the generosity and selflessness displayed by the Carrington family. We see this as another way in which God has miraculously provided for the college s current and pressing needs and are thankful that His people are sensitive to His calling to give. President Matt Pinson said, We are so thankful to the family of Jimmie Carrington for this gift for needed technological improvements on campus. The gift, like all gifts to Welch College, goes to help students and to fulfill the mission of the college to educate leaders to serve Christ, His church, and His world through biblical thought and life. This gift is a wonderful testament to Mr. Carrington s faithfulness and the generosity of James Carrington and his family. Mr. Carrington, father of Welch College staff member Jena Simpson, challenges others to consider giving to help the students and ministry of Welch College. Greetings from the Ohio Women Active for Christ State Board. Ohio Women Active for Christ Brentwood based Land Innovations assisted the College with land use analysis and worked with Sisco & Farris, LLC, a licensed TN real estate firm, to match the property s highest uses with a qualified buyer. Dudley Smith, managing partner of Land Innovations, said that Forestar has a strong track record of developments that work with and enhance surrounding communities. We are confident Forestar will develop the property in a way that is sensitive to the desires of the neighborhood, maintains its historic character and stays within the current zoning, Smith said. Rick French of French King Fine Properties and Ellen Christianson of Christianson, Patterson, Courtney and Associates serve as the College s sales and marketing team. We are encouraged, Christianson said. After an exhaustive search, we are excited. The buyer clearly intends to work closely with the Richland West End Neighborhood Association." Pinson noted that the College will continue to operate at its current location until construction is complete on its new 66 acre campus in Sumner County. The College purchased property for the new campus in 2008 to accommodate the school s growth in academic offerings and enrollment. Escalating property values and zoning regulations make it impossible for us to expand the West End campus, Pinson added. In an increasingly competitive environment, we need larger dorm rooms, more green space, environmentally sensitive and technologically sophisticated facilities, and other student friendly features only a new campus can make possible. The contract calls for a June 2015 closing. Before that time, the buyers will complete inspections and perform other due diligence related to the purchase of the campus. Bob Bass, relocation project consultant for Welch, said, If the contract process proceeds as planned, we will begin transferring certain lots and buildings to the new owners for their use soon after the closing. The core portion of the campus, including academic buildings, library, gymnasium, auditorium, dormitories, dining facilities and the student center will continue to be used by the College during a lease back period of 18 months. The College has secured Focus Design Builders of Wake Forest, NC, to build the new Sumner County campus. Welch College was established in 1942 as Free Will Baptist Bible College in a single building on Richland Avenue. In 2012 the College changed its name to Welch College to signify its development into a comprehensive Christian college. With 40 majors and an annual enrollment of approximately 400 students, the College continues to expand educational programs on the undergraduate level and has strategic plans in place to offer graduate programs in the near future. 17 OHIOAMBASSADOR PAGE 17 WAKEFIELD (PORTER) Hello from Wakefield. As maybe some of you, due to the weather, we've had some cancelled services. With so much sickness around, quite a few folks have not been able to attend. I myself was very sick and in the hospital nearly a week. Our pastor Bro. Lowell and his wife Disa and our deacon Mitch Collins also had sickness that kept them home at times. Lord willing, these bugs will soon be on the way out. The Holy Spirit is still well and strong and we've been blessed with some good services. On January 29th we had a good fellowship dinner after morning church and as always the ladies of the church outdid themselves cooking. We've got another dinner planned March 8th. There were several others from the church that have had illness and I'm sure they'd appreciate prayers. Bro. Charlie Tackett who preaches for us various times fell and broke his hip and has been in therapy at Bristol Village and could use prayer. We always enjoy his visits and preaching so much. We did have watch night service with a pretty fair crowd. It's always good to pray in the New Year. The Missionary Conference will be at Porter on March 7th. Bro. Mitch Collins is scheduled for surgery on March 9th and would appreciate prayer. Sister Saundra Allen had surgery in January to remove a tumor from her leg. Sister Sharon Mullett had a sister to pass away recently, and she herself has had a lot of illness and could use prayer. May God bless all of our brothers and sisters in Christ. Lowell King, Pastor Barb Conley, Reporter COLUMBUS FIRST (FRANKLIN) Greetings to all from Columbus First. Everyone is looking forward to spring. Winter has been hard on us all. Several remain sick and have missed services for quite a few months. They all say they miss church very badly. We are praying that they will be able to join us again soon. The youth group has been busy raising money. On February 8 they hosted a spaghetti dinner after morning church service. It was delicious! We would like to invite everyone to our Saturday night singing featuring the Masters Three from Winchester, Ohio starting at 6 PM, April 25th. Our Wednesday night study on Revelation has ended and we have started a new study about Christian Attitudes Toward Sin. It is a good review of Biblical right and wrong referenced with Bible verses. Our pastor has been recommending for several months that we take a trip to the Creation Museum in Petersburg, KY. So on Feb. 28th we took the plunge and a van full crossed the Ohio River onto Kentucky and to the museum. What a splendid time we had! The museum was great and all agreed they would recommend it to everyone. God is good all the time! While it has been a tough two months of winter, God has truly warmed our hearts in our services. During the month of February, Pastor John celebrated 40 years in the ministry along with 27 years as pastor of our church. God truly has blessed his effort in all those years of ministry and we pray He will continue to bless him. We have labeled this year as Tell our story and each service someone has given their story of coming to Christ for their needs and its amazing the stories we have heard. Pastor John will follow these stories with a story from the Bible of Christ and his work for those who came to Him. We have already heard the results of those in our church family as they have shared their story with others. March will bring in our Spring Revival with Evangelist David Epps beginning Sunday morning (22nd ) and continuing through Friday Night (27th) followed by communion and feet washing service Sunday evening (28th) April begins with our Easter egg hunt Saturday morning (4th) at 10AM followed by our Easter Sunrise Service Sunday morning beginning at 7AM The Master s Men group will prepare breakfast following the service. We will conclude this special day with our Easter services at 11AM. Also, the month of May will be an exciting time as we will host the 20th Anniversary of The Capital City Conference with services beginning Wednesday and continuing through Saturday morning (13 16th). We will be sending flyers and announcements concerning these meetings in the near future. Please pray for us as we Continue on the move for Christ John Meade, Pastor Jennifer Fannin, Reporter ROSEDALE (TRINITY) Greetings from Rosedale FWB Church. God has definitely been blessing our services; just as the song says He promised that I could live forever, in a land where there ll be no pain. He promised hope for my healing and he promised, he d come back again. We just want to take a minute to thank him for those promises; without them, where would we be? We had a young girl saved in one of our services recently, keep her in your prayers that she will stay strong. Our Valentine dinner was held on February 14th. We had very good attendance, despite the bad weather. It s always good to be with our Christian friends and families. (Improved Pond facilities) Newly built, fully furnished kitchen and dining area, as well as the huge pond is now available for swimming and pedal boats! A Pastor from a camp in 2012 was so impressed with our improvements in these areas that he said he wished other FWB churches were aware of our new (Kitchen/Dining hall) and improved (the Pond) facilities. For leasing and information on the above camps call Larry Glenn (937) , Donna Glenn (937) , Rev. Steve Nickels (937) , Pastor Tim Hamilton (937) or us at timham@reagan.com. Please let us know if you would like to view a camp presentation. A ministry of Northridge Free Will Baptist Church, 4800 Payne Ave, Dayton, OH Our youth group has been meeting weekly and has participated in our services. It is good to see the youth so involved in the church. The men thoroughly enjoyed the Men s Retreat in January. Some were there for the first time and were very impressed and already making plans to attend next year. On Wednesday night prayer meetings, our pastor has been teaching on why we use the King James Version of the Bible. Very informative and so glad our pastor isn t afraid to take a bold stand on what the Bible teaches and why. Christians ought to be interested in having the very words of God, since this is what Jesus said we need. We ve had many in our church who have been going through surgeries and illness. Please keep them in your prayers. Please keep our pastor and his family in your prayers. Jason Meade, Pastor Bev Fraley, Reporter OAK HILL (JACKSON) Warm greetings to all. Spring is almost here. We are counting down the days until warmer weather and everything springing to life. It just proves we serve a risen Savior! The Lord has blessed us during these last two months. We started out the new year with a weekend meeting beginning Jan. 1st. Bro. Steven Blagg preached from I Sam. 16:1 7 about God Knowing the Heart. Bro. Allen Simpson preached Jan. 2nd from Ezekiel 13 on Untempered Mortar and Jan. 3rd Bro. Ronnie Blagg preached from Jeremiah 6:16 26 to Seek Out the Old Paths. Bro. Edwin Hayes preached a week s revival Feb. 9 13th. He preached some wonderful Spirit filled sermons. He preached on the cross and one night he asked question on How much do you love God? He also preached on the plan of salvation and What evidence do you have to enter heaven? We didn t see anyone saved, but hands went up and we know the seed was planted. On Feb. 14th, Bro. Tim Updike preached for us. He preached a wonderful sermon from I John 2:15 on The Love of God. We love and thank each one that comes to fellowship with us. Until next time, may God bless you. Danny Boggs, Pastor Sandy Clark, Reporter LOCKBOURNE (TRINITY) Greetings from Lockbourne FWB. Although January and February have been very cold, we ve experienced the warmth of God s blessings in our church services. We re grateful for our visiting ministers and singers who have graced our church recently. The Trinity Conference was held at Lockbourne on February 7th. Thanks to all who supported the conference and thanks to the ladies of the church who prepared the food and Fellowship Hall with a Valentine s Day theme. Our ladies fellowship is working hard to raise money for a swing set for the kids of the church. We ve had good success so far but still have a way to go to reach the goal. On March 15th, we will have a special fundraiser/dinner to help meet this goal. We ll be selling strips of duct tape to be used to DUCT TAPE THE PASTOR TO THE WALL. It will be a fun evening and we can t wait to take pictures of the taping process. We re also had a fun evening on February 20 at our Fear Factor event. The event was for the youth and all those who are young at heart. It was a night of fun and some very interesting games. Please pray for our church and the Sunday School as we work towards increasing attendance. Pray that people will have a desire to assemble together to learn more about our Lord so that we might be a witness for Him as the end draws near. May we all be found faithful until His coming. Pray for us as we labor together in the Lord. Leon Stevens, Pastor Janelle Sagraves, Reporter

Young, Reporter FELLOWSHIP TRACT LEAGUE For all of your TRACT needs Call Rep. Tim Lapish at or ; Available for pulpit supply timjl52@yahoo.com WELLINGTON (CUYAHOGA LORAIN) We welcomed two members Jan. 11th, Claudine and Eddie Stallard. Eddie works in Africa and can come home to be with his young family here in Wellington periodically and during his most recent stay, taking membership was one of the many important things he did. Two baptisms in the last two months make us joyful to report: Nicole Pocack on Jan 25th and Bobby Wooley on Jan. 18th. The fellowship hall is being used more this winter than in winter s past. Donuts are there for early risers on Sunday prior to Sunday school and the young enjoy the space to play on the indoor playground equipment. Pastor Eddie s daughters Katie and Caroline use the area on Wednesday evenings for the Adventure Club, an activities based Bible study for those 5 and under while Deacon Mark Casto and his wife Becky host the youth group for those ages 6 and up. Bro. Dale DeWitt s brother, James Varner was memorialized at the church Feb. 7th and Joann Smith s brother Clifford Friend passed on the 14th and Ed Kennedy Sr. preached his funeral service at the church on the 21st. The evening of the 18th the Wednesday night scholars gathered there as well to view a documentary about the King James Version. Wednesday prayer meetings are always interesting. Pastor Eddie spoke on cremation and whether or not it is a thing Christians should do. We learned about how the Bible we know now has changed over the centuries. Bro. Tommy McCourt was the teacher on the 25th and he taught about two well known hymn writers and began a study into the book of Ephesians. Please pray for a miracle for Dave Varner, for the Lord s healing touch on sister Joyce Rutherford, Jerry Sikora and so many others lifted up regularly in prayer. Bless you. Ed Kennedy Jr., Pastor Margaret DeWitt, Reporter HERITAGE (CAPITAL CITY) Hello from Heritage! What a cold winter season, but we are so thankful that God warms our hearts! We have enjoyed our 4th Upward Basketball & Cheerleading season. It will soon be coming to an end. It s been great to get to know so many new faces and we pray that the ministry has in some way reached others for Christ. We had our Awards Ceremony on March 4th. Former Harlem Globetrotter, Melvin Adams performed and spoke for us. We have some exciting yet sad news. Our youth minister, Kevin Bass and his family will be transitioning their ministry in mid July. They are partnering with Marc and Casie Neppl to be home missionaries to Plymouth, Virginia. We are very excited for Pastor Kevin, Beth & the kids and the work they will be a part of in Virginia. His heart for the community and love for the people will be greatly missed. Please pray for our church and leaders as they search for a new youth pastor. Our Homecoming Day will be April 26th at 10am. We look forward to hearing the message from Bro. Edwin Hayes. We have Bible Study each Wednesday at 11am & 7pm as well as Divorce Care, Grief Share, AWANA and Parenting Classes. Everyone welcome! Keep praying and working for souls to be added to the kingdom of God! Tim W. Stout, Pastor Stephanie Wolfe, Reporter SCIOTO (PINE CREEK) Greetings from Scioto FWB! In spite of the challenges of winter weather, God has been moving amongst our congregation and attendance has increased. Sunday School was resumed in February and we want to thank Tillison Greene, Cristel Exline and Becca Greene for their dedication and willingness to accept the job as teachers. In the last two months we have taken in one new member, seen one soul baptized and one soul saved. We really appreciate the messages and hard work our pastor has been putting forth. On February 4th, Basil Patrick, one of our oldest members went to be with the Lord. Before becoming a shut in, Bro. Basil was a very faithful member for many years. On March 18, 19 & 20, we will have revival services with Joe Nelson preaching, 7 p.m. nightly. Special singers will be the Lore Family on Wednesday, Garret Fitch on Thursday and Reflective on Friday. On March 22nd, we will be celebrating the church s 135th anniversary. Our pastor will be preaching that Sunday morning and Open Rail singing. A dinner will follow the morning service. At 2 p.m. Joe Nelson will be preaching and Mike Blanton and Evidence singing. An invitation is extended to everyone who can to come and join us. Kevin Greene, Pastor Clara Widdig, Reporter

19 OHIO TOGETHER WAY RECEIPTS January-February 2015 DEAN ROAD (NORTHERN OHIO) Greetings from all the brothers and sisters from Dean Road FWB. I was hoping to get this article in the previous Ambassador to let you know our church ended the previous year (2014) on a good and sad note. I guess being retired caused me to be late. Since I retired I either don t have the time to do all I have to do, or I m just slower at getting it done. I haven t figured out which one yet. However, I m thankful that the Lord and Holy Spirit have never left our church or retired. God has blessed our church abundantly through it s history. We were honored to have hosted the 60th year anniversary of the Northern Ohio Conference back in August. We were pleased that our church was one of four churches that helped in getting that conference established. In November we had a special service and fellowship dinner in celebrating our 60 year anniversary of the church in which 50 of those years we have been in our current church building. Bro. Earl Tackett, our current pastor showed honor and recognition to those pastors that were before him and to the ministers who were ordained from our church. There was a lot of history given about our church on that day. We ended the year with a good Christmas dinner and fellowship. Our people put on a Christmas play that was such a blessing that people who come to watch are still talking about it. I have to thank the sisters that put on all the wonderful meals we had throughout the year. A special thanks to Sister Debbie Hunt. The sad note was we lost a father and great leader of the church, Bro. Virgil Masters passed away Dec. 23rd. Bro. Virgil was our former pastor for 32 years and had much to do in our church history. His legacy will live on in our church and the community. He preached the Gospel for 50 years and touched a lot of lives. We will miss you Bro. Virgil, but we have hope of meeting again. May God continue to bless our church and each and every one of you. Clifford Earl Tackett, Pastor Darrel Arnett, Reporter WESTERVILLE (FRANKLIN) Greetings from Westerville. We have been having some great services. Our pastor, Bro. Paul Etterling was on sabbatical leave in January. Our Assistant Pastor, Mike Sammons brought us some inspiring messages during that time. On February 8th Bro. Paul returned and after our morning worship service we were served a delicious dinner. Praise God for our Christian fellowship. Our church family has grown by one. Her name is Georgia Sargent, born December 26, Her mom and dad are Holly and Kyle. Congratulations. We want to welcome our visitors. The young women ages yrs of age are starting their group, Westerville Young Women Active for Christ. Please pray for them as they grow in the Lord. We are looking forward to our Christmas In March outing at Der Dutchman in Plain City. Brother Paul and Sister Mary Etterling, Pastor Paul Etterling s parents visited us recently for Sunday morning worship. Please keep these requests in prayer. Remember Art Salyers family. His son passed away recently. He lived in California and had cancer. Sister Patty Sargent had surgery and is now at home recovering. She has begun a series of chemotherapy treatments. Pray for us and we ll pray for you. In Christ. Paul Etterling, Pastor Grace McKinster, Reporter
