2 Upcoming Events Evening Classes APRIL 11, 18, 25 at 6-7pm Climate Justice: A Scriptural Study of Ecological Stewardship Led by Pastor Jay and Josh Easton Friendship Room (Room 108) This study will encourage you to seek climate justice and challenge you to make climate justice a reality in the world today. Grounded in Scripture, this study offers hope and move to action as we transform our relationship with God, each other, and earth. Teach Me to Pray: A Practical Study of Prayer in Our Lives Pastor Marissa and Nancy Hopkins Library (Room 107) Prayer doesn t just look one way. It can be quiet or loud, still or busy, and so much more! For three weeks we will talk about what it means to pray, what impact prayer makes on ourselves and the world, and explore different types of prayer practices. Caring for Creation Committee Presents: Sunday, April 15, after 11am Service Bring your bike to the pop-up bike clinic for adjustments or minor repairs in the Circle Drive. Kevin Horne to take advantage of the clinic or with specific questions about your bike: kevin.kphorne@gmail.com Sunday, April 22, Earth Day Keep your car parked for the day and enjoy the wonders of nature while helping to limit your environmental impact. Ride your bike to Worship and leave it with the valet in the Circle Drive, so you don't need to worry about bringing a bike lock but please do wear a helmet. The pastors will be performing a blessing of the bicycles following the 11 am service. Methodism 101 All you ve ever wanted to know about our Wesleyan roots! Please join in a time of conversation (and lunch), Sundays, April 22nd and 29th 12:15 to 1:30pm Rayne s Epiphany House. Together we ll learn more about holy living, United Methodist social principles, and our colorful history of how the Holy Spirit enlivens us for ministry and mission. Rayne will receive 40% of the proceeds from the sale of the books. 3 Opportunities for Service Give What You Can: Your Time and Your Cans! Lend a Can The Mission Team is asking the Rayne community to pick up one of the reusable bags and return it on the first Sunday of each month filled with canned goods to share with those needing assistance. Lend a Hand Food will be distributed twice a week (Mondays from 11am-1pm and Thursdays from 4-6pm) from the General Taylor St. door. If you re interested in volunteering go pick a time at april to lend a hand as we expand our food pantry to better serve our neighbors! Name That Pantry We are looking for a name for our new and improved food pantry. If you re the creative type, whip up a name by May 1 and it to Pastor Marissa marissa@raynenola.org. Spring Lay Servant School Friday April 20, 5-9pm and Saturday April 21, 8am-3pm At St. Matthew s UMC If you re interested in getting more involved or becoming a lay servant in the UMC, these classes are for you! For more information, nancy.hopkins@raynenola.org. This Spring the courses include: Basic, UM Polity, Teaching Adults, and Leading Worship. And PBJ 5:30 pm! Children s Choir Continues on Wednesdays, April 11, 18 & 25 at 6 pm. For more information, natalie.derham@raynenola.org Crescent City Café This young adult ministry, compelled by the love of Christ, serves a gourmet breakfast restaurant-style with dignity and grace to those in need twice monthly. The next café will be Saturday, April 21, 8 am, in the Fellowship Hall. To donate or volunteer, go to Comfort Food The Salt Team will prepare a meal in the kitchen after worship on Sunday, April 22, to be served on Tuesday, April 24, at The Open Table. To join the Salt, Pepper, Spice, or Tabasco Team, susie.vanderkuy@raynenola.org. The Open Table Servers are welcome at the Open Table! If you would like to serve Comfort Food, join us at 2700 Louisiana Avenue on Tuesday, April 24, at 3 pm. Tickets are on sale now! Very MUCH Needed at the Donation Station Hotel-sized amenities: soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotions, toothpaste, toothbrushes, as well as razors, reading glasses, and bandaids.

All men are welcome! Young Adult Bible Study Mondays from 6:30-8 pm Youth Room #219 What Makes You Happy Everybody wants to be happy. But for many, despite our best efforts, happiness remains elusive. What about you? What makes you happy? In this 6-part, DVD-based study, Atlanta-based pastor Andy Stanley reveals what makes you happy. He explores the three things all happy people have in common. Then he goes on to describe how these three things can be realities for you as well. This study will be led by Carrie Parris and Carrie Stuckwisch. Church Yard Sale and Bake Sale Saturday, May 12 Save the Date! Save the date for our first ever Rayne 20/30 church yard and bake sale on Saturday, May 12 in Rayne's Circle Drive to benefit the Crescent City Cafe. We'll need lots of volunteers, item donations, and baked goods. Mark your calendars, and Stay tuned for more details! MOMS BIBLE STUDY Thursday, April 12, 6:30 pm, Meeting at the Epiphany House Convene with other mothers on a monthly basis. The author shows how Jesus turned the concept of a hero on its head.

The service will celebrate the Christian, Jewish, Islamic faith traditions, as well as the indigenous peoples of Louisiana.
