April is Child Abuse Prevention Month The pinwheel is the national symbol for child abuse prevention. As a symbol of childhood and innocence, the pinwheel is a reminder that every child deserves a joyful childhood, free from abuse and other harm. If a child discloses abuse to you, stay calm and listen to them. Reassure them it was not their fault, and that you are there for them. As soon as possible, report the disclosure to law enforcement or a child protection agency. School Days / CYO Reported by Carol Yund Come and See the Works of God Come and Do the Works of God. At the Monday Morning Assembly, principal Mrs. Mary Sherman previewed for the students a parish-wide good deed program called Hope and Healing. Using the butterfly as its symbol, parishioners of all ages will be encouraged to write a message to flutter to someone in need of hope, healing, encouragement and, of course, prayers. The butterfly s cocoon (envelope) can be used for contributions to be divided between two organization: Martha s Workers, who offer hope to many in need, and the Cancer Care Alliance, which provides healing to many in our families and community. Students will be working on the butterflies and their cocoons and much more information on the formation and fulfillment of this program will be presented from the pulpit and through our parish communications. Blessings (and nice weather) for our parishioners making their First Communion next Sunday, April 29. Safe Travels (and nice weather) to the 5 th graders making the annual trip to the Olympic Park Institute. 3
