3 Parish/ School Help Wanted Groundskeeper Position St. Anne Church & School are looking for a part time groundskeeper to maintain the grounds surrounding the campus, including grass, gardens, leaves and other debris materials. The position is for 18 hours per week. The qualified groundskeeper will work 3 days per week for 6 hours each day. If interested, contact Rich Santi at Elementary Faith Formation Classes Sundays 9:00-9:50 am Join us for our Elementary Faith Formation (EFF) Sessions. Our sessions for children ages 5-12 (Grades K-7) begin at 9 am on the second floor of our parish office. Parents participate with their children in the Gospel Weeklies program. ANNE PARISH FIRST QUARTER FINANCIAL REPORT 2018/19 FISCAL YEAR (7/01/2018 thru 9/30/2018) The parish s Five Year Plan directs the Finance Council to communicate a financial summary to parishioners on a quarterly basis. For the first quarter of the current fiscal year, total offerings (stewardship and offerings at Mass) through September 2018 were $171,500. We budgeted $185,500, so revenue fell short of the year-to-date budget by $14,000. Expenses for the same period were $186,000 while the budget amount was $197,000. Therefore, by reigning in on expenses the actual balance was a shortfall of $3,000. The generous financial support of parishioners greatly helps us as we look to our future. Our hope is that this years level of contributions will increase so we can fully fund our programs and ministries. School Days / CYO Reported by Carol Yund This is my Body - Taken, Blessed, Broken, Given Did you know Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) actually consists of two distinct holidays? November 1 is Dia de los Inocentes dedicated to infants and children. Thank you to Regina De Villasante for preparing a Dias de los Muertos altar and presenting the traditions of both days at the Monday Morning Assembly. Another tradition in November is the school food drive for Martha s Workers. Each class has a particular assignment and the drive lasts from November 8 th through November 16th. We are all reminded that feeding the hungry is a year-round task. There is a collection basket for Costco size tuna, mayonnaise, peanut butter and jelly across from the Assembly Room. It s not just peanut butter. Mr. Chris Hurley announced that Martha s Workers are the recipient of $1500 of the proceeds from the St. Anne Chess Club s tournaments last season. Spooktacular, Mrs. Alitha Regalia and team! Not an original compliment but so well deserved for the creativity and work that went into Monster Mash at Banchero Hall October 26. Rumor has it that a surprise guest will be involved in the presentation of the Move-a-thon results this Monday (Nov. 5). Monday Morning Assembly, Banchero Hall, 8:30. All are invited. CYO Soccer. Winners: 4/5 th grade girls and 5 th grade boys. 3

Tony Haycock Lorraine Crist Preston Hauck, nephew of Margaret Scheibe Anointing of the Sick Weekend Masses November The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated at all our parish Masses next weekend, Nov In the Sacrament of Anointing, the community joins with the person seeking healing to ask God s grace, strength and wholeness. Anyone suffering from chronic illness, or who is seriously debilitated due to age, illness or accident, is encouraged to come to Mass and receive the sacrament. If you need a ride to church, please contact the parish office. Those parishioners unable to come to church may contact the parish office at any time to make arrangements to celebrate the sacrament at home. Remembering Those Who Have Died Every year, the church takes the month of November to remember those who have died. This tradition reminds us of our belief that, while we may b physically separated from loved ones, we will be reunited with them one day in the heavenly kingdom of God. During November, our parish Book of the Dead will be available near the baptismal font for you to enter the names of those who have died. We have an Altar of Remembrance where all are invited to bring a picture of someone they have lost and place it on the altar, and light a candle. Please be sure to have your name and phone number on the back to ensure it is returned to you at the end of the month. Thank you for sharing the memory of your loved one with our parish community. 4

5 Parish St. Anne Parish: Celebrating 110 Years Interesting facts about St. Anne Church Did you know The church was renovated in 2008, our Centennial Year. The marble in the altar, tabernacle pillar and ambo are from the original main altar. When the altar was dedicated in 2008, a relic of St. Anne was sealed inside the altar. The nursery at the west end of the church was originally the baptistery. The baptismal font in the narthex near the main entrance was from the original church built in The statue in the shrine behind the chapel entrance stood over the main doors of the original parish church from 1922 until its demolition in It is identical to the statue still standing over the entrance to St. Anne School. The large banner on the north wall depicting St. Anne, the Blessed Mother and the Child Jesus, shows our patron holding our parish church. The banner was designed and sewn by parishioners to mark the 50th anniversary of the dedication of the building on May 19, Inside the church on the banner, they included the names of all the people who were registered St. Anne Parishioners on that day.
