Bill Wolaver Dave Colvin God has lavished us with every perfect gift from above and called us to living intimacy through the beloved one, Jesus Christ our Lord. Tommy Colvin Call to Confession Let us confess our sins to our loving God who calls us close through our beloved Savior, Jesus Christ our Lord. Prayer of Confession Loving, righteous God, our hearts are defiled with the wickedness you hate. You have called us to yourself, but we have gone away. Forgetting your living Word, we cling to dead traditions. Deceiving ourselves, we abandon your commandments. Hypocrites, we honor you with our lips while our hearts are far from you. Cleanse our hearts from evil intentions; cleanse our tongues from evil words so that our worship may be pure and undefiled and we may live with you in love for others. Amen.

3 [Silent Prayer] Declaration of Forgiveness Our generous God has given us the perfect gift of forgiveness, Jesus Christ our Lord, who has liberated us from dead tradition and made us new by the living Word, filling our hearts with God s love. *SONG OF WORSHIP: PLEASE REMAIN SEATED HOW DEEP THE FATHER S LOVE FOR US (VERSE 1) How deep the Father s love for us, How vast beyond all measure That he should give his only Son, To make a wretch his treasure. 7 Christ becomes a part of our flesh through Holy Communion. The Lord s Supper is not an end in itself. It always points beyond itself to celebrate God s grace and covenant faithfulness. This does not mean the physical aspects of the celebration are incidental or unimportant. The Lord s Supper should be a celebration fitting to the abundant grace of God offered in Christ. Peter Blank is Knox s Temporary Supply Pastor. He and his wife Diana arrived in Spokane last August to help take care of Diana s aging father. Peter has previously served congregations in central California, rural Nevada and NW Oregon. After arriving, he has been busy training and becoming licensed as a Home Inspector in the Spokane area. Peter has a passion for learning and discipleship training. He is graduate of Pacific Lutheran University and Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary. With Diana, they have 5 grown children in their blended family scattered along the west coast; as pet lovers, they have two dogs and a cat. 8 Questions for Reflection My beloved speaks and says to me, Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away (Song 2:10). Song of Solomon portrays a vivid picture of romantic love in poetic form. Can you recall an experience of romantic love? In what ways does romantic love parallel our relationship with Christ? In what ways is it different? Household Prayer: Morning Beloved Savior, my heart overflows with your goodness. The night has passed. The morning has come. Your voice calls me to arise and come with you into this new day. Let your love strengthen me to answer your call and follow you, caring for those in need of your love. Amen. Household Prayer: Evening Christ, Beloved One, I desired to keep pace with your steps of love today, but I found my mind wandering, my feet straying, my heart forgetting your love. Gather me again in your gracious embrace and renew my strength as I rest in your love this night. Amen.
