3 Confessing our Great Need and His Great Provision: Call to Confession 1 John 2:3-6 We know that we have come to know Him if we obey His commands. The man who says, I know Him, but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys His word, God s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in Him: whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did. Silent Prayer of Confession and Repentance God s Assurance of Pardon for His People 1 John 1:8-2:2 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His Word has no place in our lives. My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only ours but also for the sins of the whole world. That the eyes of our hearts would be enlightened so that we would know the hope to which He has called us, and so that we might be able to grasp how wide and how long and how high and how deep is the love of Christ for us. Women s Fellowship The women of New Port will meet Wednesday, January 18 th at 7pm. We ll continue our study of the book, Twelve Extraordinary Women: How God Shaped Women of the Bible, and What He Wants to Do with You. This week we ll look at chapter 9, Mary and Martha: Working and Worshiping. Linda Galbraith will lead our study and Mary Herron provide refreshments. Please join us for an hour of study, fellowship and prayer. The church will be open for fellowship Monday. Bring a sack lunch at 12:15 and/or join us for a time of prayer between 12:30 and 1.
