Currently, they are in need of socks, boxers, jeans, and shorts, most especially for men in sizes large or extra large. Items do not have to be new, but should be clean and in good condition. Please leave donations in the boxes by the entrances at St. Augustine's. 4 REFLECTIONS UTTER INSANITY ow do you describe something that is beyond ridiculous, beyond absurd? In 1997, a woman whom we ll call Mrs. H. was jogging when a man jumped out of the woods and tried to rape her. She was able to fight him off and ran for her life, bruised and cut on the outside and deeply traumatized on the inside. Police were called; trained dogs searched the area; helicopters came in to aid the search. Who can imagine the lasting pain of an incident like this? Then, earlier this year, Mrs. H. went to her local Planet Fitness to work out. But when she went into the locker room to change, there was a young man standing there, putting on makeup as he looked in the mirror. Thinking he had walked into the wrong locker room by mistake, Mrs. H. asked him why he was there, pointing out that he was a man but was in the women s changing area. He did not reply. So Mrs. H. went to talk to the manager, who informed her that this man identified as a woman and he was allowed to use the ladies locker room. When she explained that she was not comfortable changing in the presence of a man she was told she would have to wait. Mrs. H. waited for roughly an hour. But when she went back, he was still inside. Just then, one of the female employees told her she had better leave, lest she get in trouble. When Mrs. H. asked why, the female employee said she had been saying things. Not wanting to create a scene, Mrs. H. left quickly, only to be followed by the man, who was on the phone. He had called 911, claiming that he had been sexually harassed. When she saw she was being followed, she began to run, and he began to run after her. Twenty years earlier, she was running from an attempted rapist. Now she was running from a man who invaded the women's locker room and was accusing her of sexual harassment. Yet it gets worse. She immediately received a letter in the mail from Planet Fitness telling her that her membership was revoked. For what transgression? She was guilty of lurking! Yes, that was the term used by Planet Fitness. So severe was her crime that she was informed that she has been banned from 66 Planet Fitness branches. Banned! But it gets more absurd still. According to an article on the LGBTQ Nation website, Mrs. H. is the culprit and the young man is the victim. Thankfully, Mrs. H. had the presence of mind to call Liberty Counsel, even before she got the letter from Planet Fitness. Planet Fitness could well be guilty of consumer fraud. That s because the written agreement signed by their patrons states that there are locker rooms for men and for women. Yet, Planet Fitness has now stated that this is indeed their policy, contrary to their written, contractual agreement. And let s be candid here. If a contract says that there are separate locker rooms for men and women, it s understood that we re talking biology. The good news is that the Michigan Court of Appeals recently ruled against Planet Fitness in an almost identical case. So, there is a little sanity left in this world after all. There will be the usual evening Mass that same day. 4 HOLY TRINITY SCHOOL NOTES Dear Friends, As the final days wind down of summer, our school is busy preparing to welcome our students for the school year. We are excited to see our new students and their families as well as our returning students and their families at our Back to School Night on Thurs., Aug. 30 from 5:00-7:00 pm. Classes are available for students in grades 1 - Confirmation to educate them in our Catholic Faith as well as prepare them for the sacraments of First Confession, Holy Communion and Confirmation. Our faith-filled catechists work each week to help students learn and understand the teachings of Christ and to enliven the Faith and Tradition of our Catholic Church. Classes begin on Sept. 12 and meet each Wednesday from 6:30-7:45 pm in the Parish School. If you would like to register, you may print a form from the parish website, (click on Groups), pick up a registration form in the back of the church, at the Parish Office, or contact the Religious Education Office at reled@holytrinityssp.org or We look forward to passing on the richness of our Catholic Faith to the children of our Parish!

5 FALL FESTIVAL TICKETS ARE COMING! You might not be thinking in terms of fall during this summer hot spell but the Fall Festival is not that far off. Next weekend we will begin selling those very popular 50/50 tickets. Each ticket is $50 and only 200 total are sold. Presuming all are sold and we have done so every year then some lucky person will win $5,000 and the Parish will also realize a $5,000 win. Tickets will be on sale after the weekend Masses at both churches so please bring your check book or put a $50 bill in your pocket or your purse. Also next weekend we will have the Big Raffle tickets available to pick up and bring home with you. This saves the Parish the cost of postage and it only takes a minute. Each registered parishioner has an envelope with a letter and raffle tickets. DEFENDING THE FAITH In this five-week series, Defending the Faith, Father John Echert will walk us through applying apologetics to several areas of the Catholic faith. Participants will come to a deeper understanding of what we believe as Catholics and should gain confidence in making a solid defense of the Catholic faith. Classes are on Wednesdays, Sept Oct. 17 from 7:00-8:30 pm at St. Helena in Minneapolis. The cost is $20 and includes lecture, materials, large group Q&A and snack. CATECHESIS OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD Holy Trinity is blessed to offer the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program for children ages 3-6! This beautiful program invites the young children into a relationship with God and the life of the Church. The children meet weekly on Thursday mornings with catechists from 9:30 10:45 am in the Parish School Good Shepherd classroom called the atrium. Catechists combine music, prayer and presentation for a unique method of faith formation in a Montessori based environment. Children are given the opportunity to work independently with materials that are lovingly prepared treasures for discovering more about God s plan. ADULT FAITH FORMATION CLASSES Are you interested in becoming Catholic? Or are you just curious about what the Catholic Church teaches? Perhaps you have been a life-long Catholic, but would like to learn how to navigate that imposing 800+ pages book known as The Catechism of the Catholic Church. The classes will follow the Holy Trinity Religious Education schedule. They will begin Wed., Sept. 12 at 6:30 pm in the basement of Holy Trinity School concluding at 7:45 pm. GRIEF SUPPORT SERVICES Writing for Reflection, Remembrance & Renewal: Safely explore your feelings of grief through writing on Tuesdays, Sept. 4, 11, 18 & 25 from 1:30 3:00 pm at St. Michael s Lutheran Church, 1660 County Road B West in Roseville. You will be guided through specific prompts to find renewed ways of viewing your grief journey ***************** Spouse Loss Support Group: When you are on the journey of grief, it is often helpful to seek the support of others. This support group meets on Tuesdays, Sept. 4, 11, 18, 25 & Oct. 2 from 1:00 2:30 pm at Path of Grace United Methodist Church, 759 County Rd B East in St. Paul and is intended for people who are grieving the death of their spouse or significant other. Group members will have opportunities to reflect on grief and loss, and receive relevant grief education materials. Classes are free but space is limited. ***************** YOUNG ADULT RETREAT LIVING GOD S CALL The Young Adult Retreat is for young adults, single and married, on Sat., Sept. 8 from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm at St. Hubert Church in Chanhassen. The day begins with Mass at 8:00 am, followed by continental breakfast, presentations throughout the day, and lunch. The retreat concludes at 2:00 pm.
