Someone leads the Rosary at 25 minutes before the start of Mass every day. If you already are coming to daily Mass, why not come in time to pray the Rosary before Mass begins? Our Blessed Mother asks that we pray the Rosary every day. What better way than to pray it before Mass. TRAVELING PILGRIM VIRGIN STATUE We have a blessed opportunity to add our name to receive the Traveling Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Fatima which is available for two weeks of veneration and prayer to each parishioner who wishes to participate throughout the year. Fr. Raymond Zweber brought these statues from Fatima to spread our Blessed Lady s request for prayer and penance as she showed the three shepherd children a vision of hell. Please, help fulfill her request. Call Carrie at SUNDAY IN THE OCTAVE OF CHRISTMAS - TRIDENTINE Mary, the Holy Mother of God FATIMA PRAYER CELLS Here at Holy Trinity we are blessed to have Fatima Prayer Cells of Holiness to help fulfill our Lady's request for prayer and reparation. Please join us at Holy Trinity for one hour on Fridays from 8:30-9:30 am in the church. For those souls who seek peace by embracing devotion to Mary's Immaculate Heart, our Lady promised salvation and that those souls will be loved by God like flowers placed by Our Lady to adorn His throne. THANKS! Dear friends at Holy Trinity Parish, Our sincere thank you for the generous donations you made to us in November. Your donations totaling 191 pounds of groceries to our food shelf is greatly appreciated. Many of your neighbors will benefit as a result of these gifts given from your heart. Thank you for being part of the Neighbors family! Neighbors, Inc. 3

4 REFLECTIONS HOLY TRINITY SCHOOL NOTES OCTAVE OF CHRISTMAS The Octave day following a Feast is regarded as a Feast day as well and it is given special prominence and focus. In the traditional calendar followed by the Tridentine Mass the Octave of Christmas is celebrated as the Circumcision of the Lord. Circumcision was the Old Testament prefigurement of baptism, by which male offspring were brought into the protection and fold of true religion (for girls, inclusion was by association with the head of the household within the family). Jesus submitted to this religious ritual, just as he was baptized by Saint John, though not out of any personal need. In the newer liturgical calendar and Mass, the Octave celebrates Mary under her title, Mother of God. The title Mother of God is first recorded in the Gospel of Luke: And Mary rising up in those days, went into the hill country with haste into a city of Judah. And she entered into the house of Zachary, and saluted Elizabeth. And it came to pass, that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: And she cried out with a loud voice, and said: Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed art thou that hast believed. (1:39-45) Elizabeth could have addressed Mary by some other title, such as Mother of the Savior, but instead she was divinely inspired to proclaim the exalted title, Mother of my Lord, which is the equivalent of Mother of God. Some four centuries later, in a Council of the Church held at Ephesus, Mary was given the Greek title Theotokos, which means, She who bore God. In the Latin tradition, this title has been rendered as Mother of God. It is important to understand the theological origin and significance of this title. The Council was responding to a heresy, which sought to separate the Humanity and Divinity of Christ, thereby splitting the one Christ into two persons. The consequence of this would mean that only the Son of Man was born of Mary, not the Son of God, and that only the Son of Man died on the Cross, not the Son of God. Not so! If God did not die for man on the Cross, humanity would remain unredeemed. It is true to say that the Divine Nature of Christ could not truly die, but since the Divine Nature and Human Nature are inseparably joined in the one Person of Christ, we can say that God died for us, in Christ. So too, while we do not claim that Mary brought the Divine Nature of Christ into existence, it is true to say that Mary is the Mother of the one Christ, who is fully Human and fully Divine. Hence it is fitting and divinely revealed that we give the honor and title to Mary of Mother of God, which Feast is celebrated on this Octave of Christmas. See the schedule of Masses for this Feast, a Holy Day of Obligation, elsewhere in this bulletin. 4 Dear Friends, I hope you all had a very merry and blessed Christmas! As our calendar year comes to an end, I hope that this past year has been filled with much gratitude, peace, love and blessings from above. Holy Trinity School is sincerely grateful for all of the support that we have received from the entire Parish and School Community. It is because of your generosity of time, talent, and treasure that our school is able to provide an "Education Rooted in Holiness" for so many students. As we look ahead to 2019, Holy Trinity School is sure to have an exciting year. We are thrilled with our new Reading Room and our school's focus on literacy, as well as our new Super Kids curriculum for our kindergarten, first, and second grade students. We have also updated all of our K-5 Foss Science kits so that we can focus on all areas of science, including integrating more STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) into our curriculum. In the coming year we will also be providing more professional development opportunities for our amazing staff through a grant from CSCOE (Catholic Schools Center of Excellence), as well as the many additional training and education opportunities they offer to our school. In May, we will be hosting our MNSAA (Minnesota Nonpublic Schools Accrediting Association) site visit for our accreditation renewal which will help us focus on our school's new continuous improvement plan for the next 7 years. We are also looking forward to continuing our partnerships with CSCOE to help our school grow in enrollment and academic excellence ~ providing our students with an "Education Rooted in Holiness!" Thank you again for all you do for our beautiful school! May God's blessings be upon you now and throughout the New Year! ~ Mrs. Kincs, Principal RELIGIOUS EDUCATION Religious Education classes will resume on Wed., Jan. 2nd. Confirmation Candidates, please remember the first half of service hours, important forms and the Saint Paper are due when returning to class on Jan. 2nd. If you are in need of forms, you can download them on the Parish website at click on groups. SPRING FLING Spring Fling - Save the Date - April 6, 2019 Spring Fling is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a fun night out on Saturday, April 6th and raise money for our parish school! If you have attended Spring Fling in the past, thank you, we hope you can come again this year! If you have not, please consider attending this year. The evening begins with a silent auction and social hour including complimentary drinks, followed by dinner, program, live auction, and entertainment. More details to come! Please mark your calendar!

5 THANK YOU! Thanks to all who made our Gaudete weekend fun so successful, to include the CCW and all the ladies of the Parish who baked cookies as well as Divine Inspirations, Lilla Rose and Hoffmann s Photo. Thanks also to all who had their photos taken with Santa, which brought in more than $200 for the Parish. THANK YOU! In the spirit of the Christmas Season and in appreciation of the wonderful education a family received at Holy Trinity School years ago, an anonymous donor has provided a donation to Holy Trinity to be used to provide a gift of a "Christmas Turkey" to our teachers and staff in recognition of their work and dedication in providing a Catholic education for the students in our community. Holy Trinity teachers and staff would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to our anonymous donor for the gift of Christmas turkeys this year! May God's blessings be upon our anonymous donor and their family! 6 Gaudete Grinch Dear Anonymous: I am in receipt of your letter (above) which was put in the Gaudete Sunday collection. Since you did not sign the letter the only way for me to respond is in a public manner. The truth is that our trash is emptied regularly (we fill 3 dumpsters with trash each week) and the church is cleaned weekly as are the bathrooms. We ask much of our parish staff and pay too little. On Gaudete weekend, for example, our staff decorated our school gym for a Christmas concert, they rearranged the church hall for our holiday sales, and they transformed the Incarnation Room into Santa s workshop for kids. We do have volunteers who help with cleaning as well. If you would like to volunteer to help clean, including the bathrooms, please contact our office. A joyful Christmas and New Year to you Father Echert
