It made this difficult time much easier knowing that you cared. Thank you to Pastor Sheldon Starkenburg for your devotion to visits, sincere concern and helpfulness. It was a very meaningful service and many people took part to make it special, thank you! Thank you to the caring ladies who gave their time to sit with mom when we needed them. We also enjoyed the meal provided to us on the day of mom s funeral visitation, it was delicious and a wonderful comfort to share together as a family. We really appreciate that mom was part of such a loving and giving congregation. We are so grateful for the prayers offered on Bob s behalf during his critical illness. There is power in prayer. Also, for the many cards, visits and deeds of kindness. Thanks to Pastor Paul and Pastor Sheldon for their many visits and prayers. God bless each one of you. ~ Bob & Elma Byer We, Bertha Brouwer, and my friend, Pastor LaVerne Hill, want to thank the ladies that provided transportation for me from Fair Haven East (my home) to the Pella Hospice House, were LaVerne has been since January 9. We both have congestive heart failure and Laverne has an exceedingly fragile heart condition and cancer of the liver. We thank Calvary for your visits and the meaningful birthday cards. We covet your prayers. ~ Bertha Brouwer. ABOUT OUR MEMBERS: Grace Van Kooten will celebrate her 81 st birthday on Tuesday, April 22. Calvary wishes you a happy birthday. After a difficult decision process, Bethany Van Kooten has decided to stay in China for 3-4 more years. The first two will be spent learning language, including ministry vocabulary that will enable her to serve her students better. After language study, she will continue teaching. God s leading has brought her this far, and she trust that He will continue to affirm this decision. Please continue to lift up His work in China! Next week Sunday at our morning service we will witness the profession of faith of Calise Gritters, Alyssa Starkey, Claire Van Weelden and Addison Van Weelden.

For questions, call or bpatel@actsofiowa.org. How to Pray Prayer is talking to God. God is your Father. As His child, you must speak, talk pray to Him. In Matthew 6:5-8, Jesus warns His disciples against praying in order to be seen by men and against vain repetition repeating the same words in a monotonous drone. Jesus gave us a prayer outline a model prayer with topics to pray about. Christ taught, Pray after this manner. Our Father Who Art in Heaven God created us. He is the Master Potter and we are His clay (Isaiah 64:8). All prayers should address His role as our one and only spiritual Father. You can do this by thanking God. Think of the many blessing He showers upon you daily: food, drink, homes, clothes, family, health, employment, protection, understanding His truth, and yes even trials. Be thankful when you suffer trials and stumbling blocks in your life (James 1:2-3). Think of them as opportunities for God to build His holy, righteous character in you. As our Father, God is teaching us, His children to think, speak and act properly to wisely discern all matters, big and small, based on His Holy Word. He is teaching us how to live. Our prayers should appreciate and reflect this understanding. This week pray for the Calvary members in the Oskaloosa Care Center: Cornelia Tukker Prayer Coordinator Linda Roose 5
