2 Today A very warm Welcome to all who are worshipping with us especially if you are visiting Napier or at the Cathedral for the first time you are invited to join us for morning tea (or coffee!) served at the back of the Cathedral following the 10am service. During the winter months, the 8.00am Eucharist will be held in the Resurrection Chapel (south-west corner of the Cathedral, adjacent to the stairs to the Gallery) At the 10am service this morning, Dean Ian will bless the garments knitted by the AAW members at their monthly Knit-In, plus pyjamas purchased to be gifted to the Napier Family Centre for distribution to children in the community. The AAW have also now provided a basket and invite parishioners to either donate wool or knitted items, or to take wool and knit garments (especially baby singlets or children s jumpers) for the needy. We offer our condolences, thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Keith Stichbury who died in HB Memorial Hospital on Thursday morning; Keith s funeral will be held here in the Cathedral next Tuesday, 5 th June, at 2pm. We also uphold the Fairbrother family as they mourn the sudden death of Polly (Erice s niece); and the Baker family as they mourn the death of Jenny s elderly mother Joyce, in Kerikeri. May they rest in peace and rise in glory. The Venerable Trevor Harrison has been appointed as Acting-Dean of Taranaki Cathedral of St Mary, New Plymouth, from the 1 st June whilst the search for a permanent appointment proceeds. Trevor has been serving as Archdeacon in South Taranaki and is the Vicar-General for Waikato-Taranaki Diocese; he was previously Vicar at St Augustine s, Napier. The Very Rev d Dr Trevor James has announced his retirement as Dean of St Paul s Cathedral, Dunedin, with today being his last Sunday in this post. The Dunedin Cathedral community will hold a formal farewell later in the year to acknowledge Dean Trevor s significant ministry and contributions to the Cathedral and wider community during the last nine years. Dean Ian Render and the Waiapu Cathedral Wardens have received the resignation of the Rev d Margaret Thompson from her role as Waiapu Cathedral Priest- Administrator, a completion date has yet to be determined. Br. Graham-Michoel OSBC will be participating in Refugee Week (17-24 June) and would welcome online sponsorship of his living on "refugee rations" during that time. See the OXFAM poster near the tables at the entrance for details. He also invites expressions of interest in his support for Ugandan LGBTI refugees living in camps in Kenya. Vestry has agreed to this cause being endorsed by the Cathedral. Environment-Justice-Peace Network The regular EJP monthly meeting has been transferred to next Sunday due to the QB holiday weekend, and will now be held on 10 th June at 3pm in the Sunday School room (through from the Parish lounge). 2
