2 2 Christ Has A New Gi Every Season We ve had a few changes in the last few months. Vicissitudes are the nature of life on earth. Not that we always like them but there it is. So how are you feeling about that? How do you cope with them? How does your faith help you to make the most of them? One thing that can help when those changes are not exactly what we were hoping for: Every season in life - every change we ever face takes place in a God-given life. Your life, my life all our lives are gi s from God and God is with us always. The very last words of the gospel of Ma hew reassure us of that: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Hebrews 13:5 reinforces that: "...for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee," and God is trustworthy. God is consistent. God is reliable. In Malachi 3:6 God says, "For I am the Lord, I change not." Le ng go of the familiar is tough. Facing the new can make us anxious. But it will happen. It must happen. Life on earth IS change. That is why we need God in every step every day every change. In God s hands every change that comes BE-comes an opportunity for God to bless us. I was reading a blog by Martha Noebel in which she offered an acronym for CHANGES Christ has a new gi each second. I liked that idea and adapted it just a bit for the tle in this ar cle because, as I age, I tend to ponder life in seasons, not seconds. However, it is true because James 1:17 reminds us that Every good and perfect gi is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shi ing shadows. So when changes come, we don t need to live in fear because we can live in faith! We will trust God with all the changes, and know that He is more than able to help us and that He even has plans to bless us. When our world has been turned upside down - when our life is torn apart by trials seeming to change everything, we know God s love is the same as it was yesterday, the same as it was two thousand years ago, and the same as it will be two billion years from now. Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades, Revela on 1: Amen. Pastor John.

3 3 Mission Notes for March I do want to introduce our congregation to an event sponsored by our Liberia-Haiti District Taskforce. We are calling it Springs of Living Water. It will be held at Bethel UMC on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. There will be speakers discussing Water for Life, wells in Liberia, Pure Water for the World, filters and education in Haiti; and the Flint Water Crisis. There will be a simple Haitian lunch served: Beans, Rice, Fruit, Water, and a Cookie. There will be a $5 charge at the door. Please register by calling Brenda or by bkdupree by March 15, Hope to see any who are interested in the supply of fresh, clean water here and abroad at this event. ~Maury Chapin, Missions Chairperson Next Mission Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 14th at 7:00 p.m. United Methodist Women News We met, packed, and delivered 16 Valentine bags. It was a fun time and the recipients were very grateful. Wednesday, March 1st, will be the Prayer Vigil. Please sign up in the narthex for a time slot. You can pray here at the church or at home. Saturday, March 11th will be the District Prayer Breakfast here at our church from 8:30 a.m. until noon. There will be a $10 charge and we will also be collecting canned goods for the Needy Families of Millington. We need to send in reservations, so please RSVP to the church office by March 1st. We are looking forward to having women young and old attend. Trust in Him at all times, O people, pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge. 4 4 Finance Moment A man had a ticket to a popular attraction, which he had visited many times. He saw a friend, and offered him the ticket. Was he generous? Another woman cleaned out her garage, took the unused items to a charity and gave it to them. Was she being generous? Another man went regularly to his church, and gave the change from his pocket each week. Was he being generous? Generosity has to do with our priorities. Do we give to God with a plan for sacrifice and generosity, or do we give what is left over? For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 God Gives, but not just any gift. God gives the VERY BEST! We cannot out-give God. But we can give generously and sacrificially, and we can choose to give our VERY BEST. -From the Holston Conference website Good News & Thank You Page.. Please welcome Tom Sabgash as our newest Millington United Methodist Church member. Tom officially became a member on Sunday, February 12, 2017 SPC Josh Johnson has re-enlisted in the United States Army and will con nue his Airborne career. He will be sta oned in Italy beginning some me late summer Thank you, thank you, thank you to all who came out to the Fish Dinner hosted by our United Methodist Youth on Wednesday, February 22nd...whether you came for dinner or helped prepare the meal and clean up we appreciate you more than words can say. The next dinners hosted by our Youth will be Wednesdays, March 8th and 29th. Watch for more information on the upcoming menus.
