2 HOW TO VOLUNTEER GUIDE Our church mission Here at First Baptist Church, Littlefield we believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ changes everything. So our goal as a church is to reach others with the gospel of Jesus and build up believers in the faith to bring the power of everlasting salvation to our city. Is a joke and is completely untrue

3 Senior Pastor Tanner Wilson was born in Lubbock and grew up in Amarillo and Shallowater. Growing up a preacher's kid, Tanner was licensed to the ministry at the age of 18 and has served as a Student Pastor at Grace Fellowship Church in Hobbs, New Mexico, First Baptist Church in Shallowater, and Indiana Avenue Baptist Church in Lubbock. Before coming to FBC Littlefield, Tanner served as the Minister to College and Youth at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church where he was leading staff for both ministries and preaching to two services each Sunday. Tanner has been married to his wife Cassi for over 9 years and they have two boys Kyron (5) and Eli (3). Cassi works part-time as a nurse at Parkridge of Lubbock and has a passion for ministry and missions. The Wilson's are so excited to be in Littlefield and can't wait to see all that God has in store for First Baptist Church and Lamb County! Student Pastor Cody McMurray was born in Dallas, but spent the majority of his life growing up in Bowie, Texas. He accepted Christ as Lord as a freshman in college attending Texas Tech University. His passion is to live for the Lord and to make disciples. He yearns to guide young men and women to believe the gospel, have a permanent heart change, and desire to serve God with their lives. Cody is married to his beautiful wife Stephanie, and together they have a little girl Evynn Claire

4 How can I participate? The following is a list of ways to serve and people to contact to get involved. It s not an exhaustive list, but it does offer some ways to serve that meet real needs in our community of faith. We tried to be as detailed as possible, but we know you probably still have questions. Feel free to give us a call! As you begin to use your gifts in ministry, we may soon be adding different ministries that fit you to the list!

5 Title: LEAD TEACHER Ministry Umbrella: Children s Ministry Be a leader for the Wednesday night ministry that that goes from 5:55 until 7:00. You will be asked to show up at about 5:45 and are usually done around 7:10. Here is a provisional schedule. 5:55 Eat 6:05 Meet in classrooms to pray 6:09-6:26 First rotation* 6:26-6:43 Second rotation* 6:43-7:00 Third rotation* *Rotations consist of Music, Rec, and Bible Study. Lead a bible study class of students on Wednesday nights o You will be provided curriculum for the classroom activity o You are asked to read the material and prepare for the lesson o The classroom session is about 17 minutes long If your notes are really good we will have Lifeway Publish them You will guide your class through every rotation including music and rec to be there to help make transitions smooth while you build relationships with your group. Ø Meet every Wednesday from 5:45 to 7:10 v Once a month there will be a teaching break during 1 st Kids United, where you will lead kids over to the auditorium for worship and a message from Pastor Tanner

6 Title: TEACHING COMRADE Ministry Umbrella: Children s Ministry Be a co-leader for the Wednesday night ministry that goes from 5:55 until 7:00. You will be asked to show up at about 5:45 and are usually done around 7:10. Here is a provisional schedule. 5:55 Eat 6:05 Meet in classrooms to pray 6:09-6:26 First rotation* 6:26-6:43 Second rotation* 6:43-7:00 Third rotation* *Rotations consist of Music, Rec, and Bible Study. Help the Lead teacher in the classroom as needed Be available to be a backup teacher if your lead, ever has to miss You will guide your class through every rotation including music and rec to be there to help make transitions smooth while you build relationships with your group Ask about our low voltage stun guns we use during our transition times Ø Meet every Wednesday from 5:45 to 7:10 v Once a month there will be a teaching break during 1 st Kids United, where you will lead kids over to the auditorium for worship and a message from Pastor Tanner

7 Title: MUSIC LEADER Ministerial Umbrella: Children s Ministry You will help coorinate worship for the 1 st Kids ministry that goes from 5:55 until 7:00 every Wednesday. You will be asked to show up at about 5:45 and are usually done around 7:10. Here is a provisional schedule. 5:55 Eat 6:05 Meet in classrooms to pray 6:09-6:26 First rotation* 6:26-6:43 Second rotation* 6:43-7:00 Third rotation* *Rotations consist of Music, Rec, and Bible Study. You will work together with the other music leaders to organize, guide, and lead in a time of worship during 1 st Kids rotations Once a month there will be a break from rotations for our 1 st Kids United, where you will lead kids over to the auditorium for worship corporately with a band. Note: No worship songs from the 1980 s let s not traumatize these kids. v Meet every Wednesday from 5:45 to 7:10

8 Title: RECREATION LEADER Ministerial Umbrella: Children s Ministry You will help coorinate games for the 1 st Kids ministry that goes from 5:55 until 7:00 every Wednesday. You will be asked to show up at about 5:45 and are usually done around 7:10. 10 Title: SMALL GROUP LEADERS Ministry Umbrella: Youth Ministry Be a leader for the Wednesday night ministry that goes from 6:06 until 7:15. Here is a provisional schedule. 5:55 Eat 6:06 Meet in the worship room for Bible study 6:50-7:15 Break down the lesson with you students in small group classes. 7:15 Lead them over to the MAC Lead a bible study class of students on Wednesday nights o You will be provided curriculum to look over during the week You will guide students through every rotation building relationships with your group. We need four male at least leaders and four female leaders. Ø Meet every Wednesday from 5:55 to 7:15 v Spend time praying for the students and reading through the weekly lesson (Time est: 30 outside of Wednesday Scheduling. v Contact Cody if interested in helping for this spring semester; volunteer s are needed.

11 Title: RECREATION LEADER Ministerial Umbrella: Youth Ministry You will help coorinate games for Impact after their Bible Study time, which ends at 7:15 on Wednesdays. You will be asked to show up at about 7:00 and are usually done around 8:00. You will work together with the other rec leaders to organize, guide, and lead students in a time of recreation/competitive activities in the MAC gym after the Impact bible study time. Activities are for both guys and gals. Grades range from 6 th -12 th Note: The games need to be so creative that the 2020 Olympic committee consider them for their upcoming world event Ø Spend time planning a schedule of recreation for the youth during the week (Est. time per week: 15 minutes) Ø Meet every Wednesday from 7:00-8:00 Ø Contact Cody in the office to volunteer to help.

12 Title: REGISTRATION Ministerial Umbrella: Youth and Children s Ministry You will help coorinate the registration process for both the youth and children s Wednesday night programming. Here is a provisional schedule of how you will to needed 5:40 Arrive at Mac 5:55 Open doors for all to eat both youth and kids 6:05 Send all youth over to the West door where they go down for Impact. Will check in all students at the MAC as well as welcome them to our church joyfully every Wednesday! You will work together with all the other registration leaders to organize the kids and students to where they need to be at the proper time. Will coordinate the youth and kids eating arrangements to be as smooth as possible. Ø Meet every Wednesday from 5:40-6:20 Contact Cody or Lacy in the office to volunteer to help

13 Title: KITCHEN MASTER Ministerial Umbrella: Youth and Children s Ministry You will help coorinate the meals for all our Wednesday Night Youth and Kids programming 5:40 Arrive at Mac to prep meal 5:55 Open doors for all to eat both youth and kids 6:20 Graciously help clean up the MAC kitchen once all students are done eating Will organize the entire meal process with a number of other volunteers during FBC s Wednesday night programming. Go and pick up the food from Shallowater that we get from the South Plains food bank. Ø Go get the food every Wednesday in Shallowater from the South Plains food bank Ø Meet every Wednesday from 5:40-6:30 Contact Doris Muller, Cody, or Lacy in the office to volunteer to help
