Dear Watchman, Long before He established the Church, God created the home. Whether we like it or not, our family influences who we become. We inherit both positive traits and negative tendencies. From marriage to parenting to in-laws or even friends who behave like outlaws, we must pray for the relationships we value most. In every family, relationships that work, take work. We must seek God to be the person He calls us to be in our relationships! While we are learning to set #RelationshipGoals, we are also realizing that God uses intergenerational relationships to bless and blend families. As hard as it can be to relate to people of different generations, it is part of God's grand design for humanity. It is built into the very nature of our existence. Just like the changing of the seasons, the ebb and flow of generations is essential to sustain and renew life. What we do today directly influences a multigenerational cycle of beliefs and actions, for good or for bad. We tend to reproduce who we are, not who we hope to be. What we do today shapes who our kids will be tomorrow. Even though we can t guarantee our legacy, we can guarantee those who come behind us won t have to regret what we have done. The efforts we put into engaging every household in East Texas with the Gospel of Jesus has revealed to us the challenges we ourselves are facing in our own households. I m asking each of us as watchman to be very transparent in our prayers this month. Individually ask God to search us, know our heart, test us, know our thoughts, show us if there is any offensive way in us and choose to allow Him to lead us in His way everlasting.(psalm 139:23-24). May we each have the resolve of Joshua: But if it doesn t please you to worship the Lord, choose for yourselves today: Which will you worship the gods your fathers worshiped beyond the Euphrates River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living? As for me and my family, we will worship the Lord. (Joshua 24:15, CSB). Ask God to open your heart to areas or people where you have caused hurt. Seek God s grace to forgive those who have hurt or hindered you. Pray for God to increase unity in our families and our church. Pastor Glynn June 2018 Alert, 1
As we continue praying through 2018, use the following prayer guide as just that, a guide. Spend time with God worshipping Him, praising Him, seeking to be closer to Him and listening for what He wants to say to you. Yield to His direction. Praise: Praising God for who He is and for what He has done. Praise God: Jehovah-The Self-Existent One, I AM, LORD Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; proclaim his deeds among the peoples. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell about all his wondrous works! Honor his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wondrous works he has done, his wonders, and the judgments he has pronounced, you offspring of Abraham his servant, Jacob s descendants his chosen ones. He is the Lord our God; his judgments govern the whole earth Psalm 105:1-7, CSB Praise the Lord: For He has blessed us with several salvations from our Easter Blitz follow up. For the Pray for America worship gathering, which brought together churches and pastors from our community to lift up each other, our East Texas area, and our nation. For a successful Come Together for worship at the Longview campus. We are grateful the College Ministry and Mobberly en Español have more space for worship and connect group time. Praise the Lord for a smooth transition. That two people chose to follow the Lord through a saving relationship with Jesus in the Tuesday morning Family Services Ministry since last month s Watchman report! Pray for these new brothers and sisters as they learn what it means to follow the Lord: Cheyanna and Toya. For bringing many people to our Pastor-Led Bible Study. As we offer this opportunity this summer, we are thrilled people want to study God s Word under the teaching of our pastors. For giving us the idea for our Facebook Live Connect Group. This is a new concept for churches and we hope it helps those who miss their Connect Group, can t attend a Connect Group or are looking for a Connect Group to connect to at Mobberly. Seven students took the step of baptism in May. There are summer student leaders who are excited about reaching people for Christ. The college student leadership really bonded well on their retreat. For the clear direction He has given us in serving Women in Need. For over 100 volunteers who delivered meals to 60 of Mobberly s homebound members and their families as part of our annual Homebound Fish Fry. Rejoicing that nine new individuals have signed up to be CareFriends through MBC s homebound ministry. For all He did through those serving on recent Mission Trips: -Arlington, TX - May 5 (adults - apartment ministry) - 24 people serving on this team led by Bryan Hood. Praise the Lord for new connections, gospel opportunities and wonderful mission experiences. -Cody, WY - May (adults construction) - 8 people serving on this team led by Tom Smith. Praise the Lord for safety and construction projects that will greatly assist Cody Cowboy Church in their outreach and ministry. For growing opportunities to offer Biblically based, Christ-centered counsel to members of Mobberly and people of East Texas through Mobberly s developing Counseling Ministry and continuing THRIVE! Support ministry. June 2018 Alert, 1
For enlistment of an Advisory Launch Team to ask questions, give input, and offer insight to the Pastor of Marriage & Family Counseling, Dr. Gregg Zackary, Director of Operations, Larry Wilson, and our Senior Pastor, Dr. Glynn Stone, Jr. in the planning and development of Mobberly s Counseling Ministry. That Mobberly members approved a lease space in the same building, and adjacent to the August Wallace Eye Care Clinic, that will be finished out to provide offices for the Mobberly Counseling Ministry, tentatively scheduled to launch, Fall, For continued support for the Counseling Ministry through donations and designated giving and for the $56, that has been given to this ministry through May 20, Finalists in the Great Marriage Race have submitted their final race challenge. Winner will be announced soon. Thrive! has provided over 22,750 hours of support to adults and children in the areas of recovery, divorce, grief and challenges in foster or adoptive families. That the Marshall campus has exponentially grown our student camp numbers for this summer! We will be asking for more spots soon! God is doing a mighty work on our campus in all areas, but especially in our student ministry. For the great manner in which God was glorified through the 5 year anniversary of Mobberly en Español highlighting: -LIFE CHANGE that has taken place in hundreds of people who have been touched through this ministry. -GROWTH in awareness, necessity and importance of this ministry within the members of Mobberly. -IMPACT this ministry has had in helping to bridge the gap of division among the East Texas Hispanic Churches. For the great support shown to Mobberly en Español by all our staff, pastors and ministers during this great celebration, affirming an embracing of this vision and calling for all of us at Mobberly Baptist Church. Repent: Of sins I have committed and of commands I have neglected. Our ongoing sins disturb our fellowship with our heavenly Father. This is why we need to repent of our sins and confess them to God. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (I John 1:9, CSB) As you pray, take some time to allow the Holy Spirit to reveal your sins. Think through various areas of your life: sins of thought, sins of attitude, sins of omission, sins of commission, sins of self-rule, or sins of self-reliance. This month, especially ask Him to reveal any sins of relationships, and ask God for the grace to repent. Ask God to restore your fellowship. And then thank God that your sins were already paid for by Christ. Rest in His unfailing love. Ask: When our hearts are God-oriented in praise and purified through repentance, then we are ready to Ask. God encourages us to come boldly to Him and ask. Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16, CSB) June 2018 Alert, 2
Ask God: To prepare folks to be at home, open their doors and have open hearts during Engage Summer Visitation on June 13 and July 11, and during our Church-wide Vacation Bible School Engage Blitz June 23 rd. For our Summer Serve initiative that ask Connect Groups to serve one Sunday this summer in our Preschool and Greeter ministry, to be a great blessing to those serving as well as those being served. To bless the new groups we are planning on starting this summer and those leading and attending will help connect people during the summer. For His love to be ministered to the many kids who are affected by unhealthy home relationships. Pray that God will draw parents close to Him and kids will feel love, security, and hope from the truth of God s Word. For the marriages and homes of the men and women who lead our kids at Mobberly to remain strong. Pray each of them will seek God s truth for wisdom and direction in all of life s circumstances and situations. To bless the homes of boys and girls that will attend VBS June May the gospel spread from the kids to the homes and change lives for eternity! To raise up those who would be host homes to house the staff of our Pine Cove Camp in the City college kids. They will be here from July 28 August 4. We are in need of 8 10 homes. To change the lives of our students during summer camps. High school students will be going to Camp Windermere June Junior High students will be going to Camp Fuego June Pray this will be a life-changing, ever-growing experience for all our students. One that will draw them closer to God and become a spiritual milestone in their lives. To guide the hearts of 6 th graders who will be coming into the youth ministry in June. Pray that they would get plugged in, connect and grow in faith. For a few student discipleship groups to form over summer, especially for guys. For students returning home for the summer from college to come back to worship and get plugged into groups and serve. To move through the intergenerational opportunities over the summer as Mobberly s Senior Adults connect with preschoolers and youth. Specifically in June, Senior Adults will partner with the preschoolers and Buckner Family Services to collect shoes to be given to Longview area children in need. To bless the Men s Bible Study this summer on Thursdays at 6:30 AM. Pray God will use this time to grow men deeper in their walk with the Lord, as well as their relationships and accountability with each other. June 2018 Alert, 3
To continue to draw women to the study of His word and to live out the truths of His Word in their homes and their relationships. To continue to raise up leaders for the women s groups He would have us start. To continue to place on the hearts of older women the desire to teach what is good, so that they may encourage young women to love their husbands and love their children. To bless homes and individuals through the expanded Book Nook in The Bridge, as well as the Book Nook location in the Johnson Building. Pray that reading the family resources that are provided will help families to grow stronger as they choose to follow the Lord. To motivate Mobberly members to take advantage of the resources available to every member in their home through RightNow Media. Pray we will allow God to search our hearts for areas in which we need to grow as we follow Jesus and choose the best resource among the many available to grow in Christ-likeness. For gospel opportunities and building relationships at J.L. Everhart, South Ward and Ware Elementary Schools, through providing inflatables, gospel coloring books and invitations to Vacation Bible School. For participants, provision and preparation for each team as they go to serve others on Summer Mission Trips in Romania; Malawi, Africa; Cody, Wyoming; Longview and Dallas. Administrative Assistant, Tony Puckett, Develop Coordinator over THRIVE! Support Ministries and Marriage Ministry, Russ Montgomery, Adjunct Counselor, Steve Archer, Adjunct Counselor, and Dr. Gregg Zackary, Pastor of Marriage and Family Counseling. For wisdom to develop a workable and sustainable strategy providing finances for startup/launch and ongoing monthly support and operation of Mobberly s Counseling Ministry. For wisdom to identify and enlist the team that will staff Mobberly s Counseling Ministry as Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs, LMFTs, RPTs, etc.), as Certified Life Coaches, and volunteer encouragers, mentors, and facilitators of various classes and follow up efforts. To provide volunteers for Camp Thrive!, a weekly twilight camp for children that will begin June 4th. We still need 8 men, women, or mature teens that would enjoy being a camp buddy for the children who will attend. The camp will be on Monday nights, June 4 - July 30. To guide our upcoming re-evaluation and assessment of current leadership structure, and provide for the need to enhance that leadership to better serve the needs of members. For more volunteers to serve in the weekly needs of Mobberly en Español. To open a door for a future part-time administrative assistant to aid both of our Español staff members, Calixto Arce and Ricky Ruiz, in day-to-day responsibilities. Yield: to what God says to me. Yield my will to the will of God. Yield my agenda to the plan God has for my life. We must be willing to yield our desires and our thoughts to God s sovereign wisdom. As Jesus faced the cross, He prayed in Matthew 26:39, CSB My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will. We must pray with that same spirit, humbly yielding our will to God's will. June 2018 Alert, 4
To close our prayer by yielding to God is a way where we submit our desires to Him. In the end, it is our way of acknowledging His will is what will truly satisfy us anyway. God s will and plan is better than ours. He knows the end from the beginning and He loves us more than we can ever imagine. But if it doesn t please you to worship the LORD, choose for yourselves today: Which will you worship the gods your fathers worshiped beyond the Euphrates River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living? As for me and my family, we will worship the LORD. (Joshua 24:15, CSB) June 2018 Alert, 5

Dear Watchman, Followers of Jesus, follow Jesus. What may sound obvious is not always easy. When Jesus called His first four disciples to follow Him, it changed everything for them. Matthew 4:22 states:
