2 Gathering God calls us together to offer praise, acknowledge sin, and celebrate our adoption as forgiven children. Prelude Softly and Tenderly, Jesus Is Calling arr. Phillip Keveren *Call to Worship At the sign * you may stand. Bold text is read or sung in unison. Giving God, gracious God, God who provides for our needs, We come to you burdened by uncertainty. We are anxious about ourselves, our families, our community, and our world. Expectations, worries, and fears assail us from all sides. Instead of turning to you, O God, we turn to our self-constructed idols for comfort. Help us remember you are our only hope and comfort. You know our needs and will provide. Come let us worship the God of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. *Opening Hymn Seek Ye First Hymn 175 Hymn indicates the red pew hymnal Glory to God. Prayer of Confession Lord, I have betrayed you by following my own way, I have denied you by fearing to follow your way, and I have mocked you by not taking your death seriously. Lord, I am lost. Let your forgiveness find me. Hold me by your strong Spirit and give me your resurrected life. Live in me and guide me day by day, so that your love, your peace, and your hope would be known by all. Amen. Silent Prayer 1

4 Proclaiming the Word We encounter the Word in speech and song as we interpret and expound scripture. Time with Children Children age three to grade one may leave for a a Bible story and craft time in Room 07. Prayer for Illumination Lord, breathe through these words and make them alive for us today. Take these Bible stories and put our lives in them. May they nourish us like water from the rock in Exodus. And may Christ be present to us now, like he was that day on the mountain. We ask this in the promises of your Holy Spirit. Amen. First Scripture Lesson Exodus 17:1 7 pg 64 Second Scripture Lesson Matthew 6:25 34 pg 6 Sermon Do Not Worry Thanksgiving We respond by presenting our offerings, setting the table, lifting prayers, and praising the triune God. *Sermon Hymn Be Still, My Soul Hymn 819 Special Offering for Appalachia Service Project *Affirmation of Faith Confession of 1967, We believe that God has created the world of space and time to be the sphere of God s dealings with humankind. In its beauty and vastness, sublimity and awfulness, order and disorder, the world reflects to the eye of faith the majesty and mystery of its Creator. We believe that God has created us for personal relationship in which we may respond to the love of the Creator. Life is a gift to be received with gratitude and a task to be pursued with courage.
5 Offertory No Matter What Raymond Wise *Doxology Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow Text 1988 Neil Wetherhogg, music 2008 Hal Hopson, reprinted for convenience from Glory to God 2013 Westminster John Knox Press Prayers of the People and the Lord s Prayer Common Text Lord s Prayer, Hymnal pg 11; Traditional Text, pg 35; Spanish, pg 40; Korean, pg 45 Sending We follow the Word into the world, sent forth with God s blessing to lives of service and love. *Closing Psalm Order My Steps Psalter 119 F Liturgists read verses between choruses pg 776 Psalter indicates the blue pew psalter Psalms for All Seasons. *Benediction *Response We Will Go Out with Joy Hilary Seraph Donaldson Choir sings first, followed by congregation Andrew Donaldson We will go out with joy in the Spirit.
