Valerie Stephenson Introit Let All the People Say Amen Pepper Choplin (b. 1957) The Chancel Choir Sam Brusco, tenor Let all the people say, Amen. Let your will-uh be done again. Shout unto God with a voice of triumph, triumph in the victory of the Lord strong and mighty, the everlasting God and the King of Kings. Shout to God with a voice of triumph and clap your hands for the Lord God is awesome and He is King over all the earth. * Call to Worship (responsively) The Rev. Dr. David J. Smazik Leader: Today we gather with Christians near and far to sit together at God s table. People: Leader: People: * If you are able, please stand. 2 Confession and Pardon The Rev. Sarah Green Prayer of Confession (unison) Eternal God, we confess that we have failed to seek your will. You create us in your image, yet we dishonor your holy name. You call us to live as one body, yet we seek our separate ways. Forgive us, God of grace. By the work of your Spirit within us make us holy and whole, so that we might live for your glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Kyrie: Hymn 602 Holy Lamb of God Ya Hamalallah Sung first by the choir in Arabic and then by all in English Silent Prayer Assurance of Pardon (responsively) Leader: We have confessed our sins; now it is time to forget the past and to live new lives in the present. Our hope is that we can start anew, following a new life of loving, forgiving, and caring. People: In the newness of this moment we acknowledge that our sins are forgiven and look forward to the future God has given us. Amen. * Response: Hymn 605 Praise to God the Father Da N ase Sung first by the choir in the Twi dialect of Akan and then by all in English * Passing of the Peace A Time for Young Christians 2 Alexandra Mead Prayer for Illumination (unison) Gracious God, we do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from your mouth. Make us hungry for this heavenly food, that it may nourish us today in the ways of eternal life; through Jesus Christ, the bread of heaven. Amen. First Scripture Reading: (unison) Philippians 2:1-5a If then there is any encouragement in Christ, any consolation from love, any sharing in the Spirit, any compassion and sympathy, make my joy complete: be of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others. Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus.
