Bible discovery, and really getting to grips with God s Word, is still very much at the heart of CWR s ministry. Over the coming months, there are several opportunities for you to dig deeper and really develop your understanding of the bigger picture of the Bible, as well as the more intricate threads and nuances within. 4 CWR Course Tutors CWR courses are hosted by a variety of experienced and engaging course tutors, many of whom have written resources on their specialist subject matter. To get the best from their teaching, come and hear them speak! Lynette Brooks is the Director of Publishing and Ministry at CWR, and is also a member of the Senior Leadership team. She leads the Inspiring Women team and teaches on various other CWR courses. Mick Brooks has a background in mental health nursing, and is the Chief Executive of CWR and the Consulting Editor of Every Day with Jesus. He teaches on several of CWR s flagship courses. Rosalyn Derges has been involved with women s ministry for 25 years, leading groups and conferences. She trained as a Christian counsellor with CWR and subsequently taught on the IBCC course for several years. She is a member of the Inspiring Women team on weekends, training courses and writing. Philip Greenslade has 40 years experience in Christian ministry, particularly in the areas of biblical studies, pastoral care and leadership. He teaches Bible Discovery courses at CWR and has authored several books, including The Big Story. Chris Ledger has worked for many years as a counsellor and supervisor. She is involved in counselling training in both the secular and Christian fields, and is a regular course leader at CWR. She has also co-authored several books in the Waverley Abbey Insight Series. Andy Peck has been involved in various forms of Christian ministry for nearly 30 years. Also a writer and Bible teacher, Andy has served as a course leader with CWR since He has a concern for the vitality of small groups and is a regular contributor to Small Group Central. 4

Insight into Self-Esteem Led by Chris Ledger Whether you come for yourself, or would like to support someone else, come and consider how low self-esteem can affect our relationship with God and others. 6 Bible Discovery BIBLE DISCOVERY Our Bible Discovery courses are a brilliant opportunity to dig deeper into the Bible and grasp more of the wonder of God s story. Each course offers in-depth teaching, worship, fellowship and time for personal reflection in peaceful surroundings. Great Chapters of the Bible: Jesus, Revelation and Rest (Matthew 11) Led by Philip Greenslade Join Philip Greenslade on another of his popular Bible Discovery days at Waverley Abbey House, this time exploring Jesus identity through a close reading of Matthew 11. Discover how Jesus truly was the Messiah heralded by John the Baptist, and how the Person of Jesus the Son reveals the Father heart of God to us. Wed 21 February including lunch (9.30am 3pm) Bible Discovery Weekend: The Mission Statements of Jesus Led by Philip Greenslade Spend a fascinating weekend reflecting on how Jesus spoke of His purpose in coming into the world. There are half a dozen or so crucial I have come... statements in the Gospels that reveal the Father s heart, and show who Jesus really is. So why not come to for a weekend of fellowship and fantastic Bible teaching as you reflect on Christ s motives for His ministry, and the reason for the Easter season. Fri Sun, March 220 Residential/ 165 Non-Residential Know Your Bible The Bible is a glorious book, but to some it can be confusing, puzzling and even offensive. This day looks at answering questions such as: How did the Bible come together? What are its main themes? Can we be sure of its reliability? What kind of literature is it? How have historical records and archaeology supported its claims? Come along and refresh your reading of the Word. 8 Life and Discipleship LIFE AND DISCIPLESHIP These courses are an opportunity to take time out and focus on deepening your relationship with God. They will help you discover more about yourself and how to relate well to others. We also offer to bring some of these courses to your church or small group (see pages for more information). 10 Pastoral Leadership In recognising the importance of supporting those who work in churches or in a position of pastoral leadership, we offer a range of courses to help equip, train and support you in your work. PASTORAL LEADERSHIP Pastoring Through Crises What do we do and say when those we care for pastorally face a crisis? 22 TERMS AND CONDITIONS Terms and Conditions Payment Arrangements For day, evening and weekend events the full fee is payable on booking. For courses longer than one weekend, a 100 deposit or the full fee is payable on application. The deposit amount is non-refundable once CWR has confirmed your booking in writing. The balance of the fee must be paid at least six weeks prior to the event or in full on application if you are applying later than this. Please note there is a 3% surcharge on payments by credit card. Cancellations Day/evening events are non-refundable. For courses one weekend and longer, should you cancel your booking, we offer the following refunds on the balance (deposit non-refundable): ten weeks or more prior to event = 60% six weeks or more prior to event = 40% two to five weeks or more prior to event = 20% less than two weeks prior to event = nil. We strongly recommend that you consider taking out insurance to cover the possibility of such a cancellation. CWR s Terms and Conditions CWR reserves the right to cancel an event due to unforeseen circumstances or low numbers, in which case fees are fully refundable. However, CWR is not liable for other expenses, eg travel costs that the applicant may have incurred. CWR also reserves the right to refuse registration to anyone it considers unsuitable for a course. All courses, dates and prices correct at time of printing and may be subject to change. Accommodation WAVERLEY ABBEY HOUSE has bedrooms that are shared and are en-suite. PILGRIM HALL offers both shared, en-suite bedrooms and single bedrooms with separate bathrooms. Details of local Bed and Breakfast accommodation are available on request, if you prefer.
