It includes overview of world evangelization today and examination of major problems and challenges confronting Christian missions. Teaching sessions as well as practical workshops will cover missions and evangelism in the major fields of foregin missions and communicating the Gospel to the lost. 3

Students will gain a biblical understanding of conflict, as well as develop the skills required for preventing and resolving interpersonal and organizational conflict. It examines conflict s underlying causes and dynamics, the conflict cycle, styles of conflict management, the impact of culture and personality in conflict, and effective intervention strategies. Students will be equipped to use conflict for positive change. BI 304 POETIC & WISDOM LITERATURE (3 CREDITS) Lecturer: Dr. Margaret Seaward 11 Feb 21 Feb (Tues Fri) 8.00 am 1.30 pm This is a study of the books of Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song of Songs, with attention given to their structure, historical context and value for theology, worship and daily life. 4

Min. 24 Feb 28 Feb (Mon Fri) 4 March (Tues) 8.00 am 3.30 pm The student studies the person and work of the Holy Spirit in relation to the church, the believer, and spiritual warfare. Special attention is given to an understanding of the biblical teaching on spiritual gifts and ministries, including the major groups of spiritual gifts and the analysis of individual gifts. The exercise of these gifts and their contribution to the edification of the Body of Christ are also examined. 5

8 2.0 WEEKLY COURSES BI 207 LIFE OF JESUS 1 (3 CREDITS) Lecturer: Dr. Ed Pousson, D.Miss 20 Feb 24 Apr (Thursday) 7.00 pm pm (Additional 10 hours contact time to be arranged with lecturer) This course aims to bring us in touch with the human, historical Jesus in his first-century context. The question, Who was Jesus? precedes the question, Who is Jesus? We study some of the key public events in the earthly ministry and mission of Jesus, their significance in the first century, and their relevance for discipleship, ministry and mission today. BI 105 NEW TESTAMENT SURVEY (3 CREDITS) Lecturer: Patrick Kwan, M.Soc Sc., M.T.S. 1 Mar 17 May (Saturday) am pm This course is an introductory study of the New Testament writings in the context of history, culture and geography of its time. It includes a survey of the Intertestamental period of Judaism in the period and of the birth and expansion of the church to AD 100. The contribution of each book in relation to the on-going revelation of the divine plan is emphasized and likewise, the principles applicable for victorious living today 7

Min. 3 Feb 8 Feb (Mon - Sat) 8.00 am 3.30 pm This course examines conflict management strategies and practices crucial for church leaders. Students will gain a biblical understanding of conflict, as well as develop the skills required for preventing and resolving interpersonal and organizational conflict. Effective intervention strategies will be considered, including mediation, arbitration, and negotiation. BTH 540 BIBLICAL THEOLOGY (3 CREDITS) Lecturer: Dr. Dale Brueggemann, Ph.D 11 Mar 21 Mar (Tues Fri) 8.00 am 1.30 pm An analysis of the meaning of theology and the various ways of developing theology with the intention of making explicitly clear the theology of the Bible on its own terms. Special individual passages of Scripture are studied as examples. Applications to godly living and ministry are made. Examples from the Old and New Testament passages are examined with the emphasis being placed on inductive methodology. 10

13 ABOUT THE LECTURERS DR. CHERYL TAYLOR, D.Min. Cheryl Taylor came to AGTS following a decade of ministry in the local church, on a district level, and on the foreign mission field. In addition to serving as the Doctor of Ministry program advisor, Cheryl enjoys teaching at AGTS and Evangel University. She also serves as the Vice President for Academics at Asia Theological Center, Singapore. A popular speaker at retreats and conferences, Cheryl is used by God to help ministers gain an increased appreciation for the importance of maintaining and promoting sexual integrity in the church. Cheryl s passion is to help believers discover and fulfill their God-given potential. DR. DALE A. BRUEGGEMANN, Ph.D Dale describes himself as a committed evangelical churchman who is a classical Pentecostal. He has a Ph.D. in Hermeneutics (OT) and has taught Bible and theology at various levels, both in the USA and abroad for the last 20 years. The bulk of his experience has been as a missionary-educator. Dale earned his B.A. Philosophy and Religion, Northwest Nazarene University (1979), M.A. Religion (Bible), Westminster Theological Seminary (1983) and Ph.D. Hermeneutics and Biblical Exegesis (Old Testament), Westminster Theological Seminary (1995). 12 His ministerial experience includes being the Executive Director, Eurasia Education Office (AGWM), supporting ministerial education throughout the AGWM Eurasia Region (Europe, CIS & Baltic Republics, Middle East, and North Africa, Central Asia, and Southern Asia). He also taught at and consulted with emerging and maturing ministerial training institutions, especially around the former USSR And Warsaw Pact countries.
14 ABOUT THE LECTURERS DR. DOUGLASS P NORWOOD Jr., D.Min. Dr. Douglass P Norwood Jr. is the Executive Director of Broken Jars. He surrendered to the Lord in 1969, and has served Him as pastor of the Moravian Church in Union, NJ. He is also the founding pastor and developed a church in Toms River, NJ. He holds degrees from Moravian College & Theological Seminary, Princeton Theological Seminary, and his doctorate from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. He began evangelistic missions in Suriname and Jamaica in the mid-1980s. A compelling vision from the Lord in 1989 convinced Dr. Norwood of God s plan to transform the world. In 1991, he co-founded and directed Cornerstone Ministries International to work toward the fulfilment of that vision, and in 2001 initiated the ministry of Broken Jars to deepen that work with clearer focus. Doug and his wife, Sarah, make their home in Allentown, PA. DR. ED POUSSON, D. Miss Edward Pousson lectures in Bible and missions in Asia Theological Center, Singapore. He has lived in Singapore and ministered in Asia since He has served with various committees and networks mobilizing missions to unevangelized people groups. Before that he served mission terms in Haiti, Africa, and Malaysia. He has written a book on mission (spreading the Flame, Zondervan 1992), and several articles and prayer guides. He earned his Doctorate in Missions at Fuller Theological seminary. Edward and his wife Lai Kheng have two sons, and one daughter. 13
15 ABOUT THE LECTURERS DR. JAY TAYLOR, D.Min. Following a decade of associate pastoral ministry in major USA Assemblies of God churches, Jay began working with emerging leaders in the educational setting. He spent several years in student development and teaching at Evangel University and then taught for two years at ATC. For the past ten years Jay has served at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield, Missouri USA, assisting the community in student life and spiritual formation. He has a passion for encouraging and equipping students to fulfil their Godgiven calling for ministry. PATRICK KWAN, M.T.S. (Summa Cum Laude), M.Soc.Sc. Patrick graduated summa cum laude from Asia Theological Center with a Master of Theological Studies. He also earned his B.A., B.Soc.Sc.(Hons) and M.Soc.Sc. at the National University of Singapore where he was a recipient of the Chng Heng Lay Memorial Prize and the NUS Research Scholarship. He is a Certified Behavioural Consultant and an accredited administrator of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the DISC profiling system. Patrick has been teaching in institutions of higher learning for over twenty years and has publications in international peer-reviewed journals. He has also received training in various ministry areas from Christian International Ministries Network, Ellel Ministries, and Restoring the Foundations, among others. He is passionate about teaching God s Word and seeing lives transformed in His kingdom for the purpose of serving and glorifying the Lord. 14
16 ABOUT THE LECTURERS DR. MARGARET SEAWARD Margaret Seaward is a dynamic teacher of the Word and has been a missionary instructor in Biblical Studies for more than 30 years. She is the wife of Rev. Dr. Fred Seaward, founder and former senior pastor of Elim Church. They came to Singapore in the 1950s as missionaries from the United States under the Assemblies of God. Together they have planted churches in Singapore and have been actively involved in missions. 15
