This evening will outline the background and focus of the gospel message as proclaimed by Jesus and the early apostles and challenge the suggestion that all the gospel does is prepare us for heaven when we die. We will explore the implications of a true understanding of the gospel for living for Christ today. An open forum evening with opportunity for questions and discussion. He Refreshes My Soul Led by Lynn Penson, with input from Andy Peck Take some time out to reflect and refocus at the beginning of another year. Using the well-known 23rd Psalm we will look at how David s relationship with God reverberates down the centuries and still speaks to us today. We often long for rest, refreshment and restoration through this psalm we see how David was able to experience these despite the challenges and dangers he faced. Lynn will lead short sessions followed by ample time for personal reflection. This introduction to the MBTI will enable you to appreciate your Godcreated uniqueness, understand your strengths and weaknesses, encourage stronger and more godly relationships, reduce stress and get more out of life. 7 Mentoring Others Led by Andy Peck Mentoring can be a powerful means of enabling others to grow spiritually. This course will envision you for mentoring in the local church and elsewhere and equip you to serve others in this way. We will look at the biblical roots of mentoring, explore its scope as a tool in personal and spiritual development and look at the practicalities of how to mentor others. Why did it take the form and shape that it did? This introduction to the history of the Church will help you appreciate the importance of understanding the past in order to understand the present. How does a leader manage conflict in a way that seeks resolution, is realistic about the realities in a fallen world and doesn t take it too personally? 12 pastoral care & counselling short courses & Events Infertility: Invisible Wounds and Unfulfilled Longings Led by Irene Davies and Andy Peck One in six couples in the UK are infertile and, though medical intervention is able to help some, many find that they have to live with the pain of not being able to have children naturally. This Insight Day will outline biblical perspectives on the suffering surrounding infertility, explore what s helpful and what s not, and provide pointers for the church community to better care for those who face infertility. Andy and Irene, both of whom have experienced infertility, will also provide personal insights. Each course: Wednesdays, September 2010 June 2011 plus three residential weekends at Waverley Abbey House. Certificate, Diploma and BA (Hons) in Theology and Counselling This programme combines CWR s Certificate and Diploma of Christian Counselling courses with a theology course drawn from the wider programme of London School of Theology to provide a full degree course, validated by Middlesex University. A 1 M4 A M M40 Special Group Booking Offer 12.5% discount! Book six places for a one-day course and we will give you a 12.5% discount. The offer applies to each group of six booked at one time. (Offer excludes MBTI courses and cannot be used in conjunction with the Early Bird prices or any other offer.) M25 M2 Detailed travel directions are available on request or at Payment Arrangements For day, evening and weekend events the full fee is payable on booking. For courses longer than one weekend a 100 deposit or the full fee is payable on application. The deposit amount is non-refundable once CWR has confirmed your booking in writing. The balance of the fee must be paid at least six weeks prior to the event or in full on application if you are applying later than this. Cancellations Day/evening events are non-refundable. For courses one weekend and longer, should you cancel your booking, we offer the following refunds on the balance (deposit non-refundable): ten weeks or more prior to event = 60%; six weeks or more prior to event = 40%; two to five weeks or more prior to event = 20%; less than two weeks prior to event = Nil. We strongly recommend that you consider taking out insurance to cover the possibility of such cancellation. CWR s Terms and Conditions CWR reserves the right to cancel an event due to unforeseen circumstances or low numbers, in which case fees are fully refundable. However, CWR is not liable for other expenses the applicant may have incurred. CWR also reserves the right to refuse registration to anyone whom they consider unsuitable for a course. All fees are correct at time of going to press and may be subject to change. Accommodation Courses are held on the first floor of the building and bedrooms are on the second floor, currently reached by stairs only. Bedrooms are shared and are en-suite.
