Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and He will say, Here I am." *Hymn of Praise No. 427 How Firm a Foundation FOUNDATION *Prayer of Confession O Lord, great God, filled with mercy and steadfast love, we are embarrassed to come before you, for we have preferred the ways of this world to your ways, we have rebelled against your wisdom and we have gotten into trouble, we have rejected your fatherly guidance and have gotten lost altogether. Forgive us, not on the ground of our own righteousness, but on the ground of your great mercy in the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ. It is in His name that we pray, for He is our Savior and the mediator of the covenant of grace. Leader: People: *Song of Response (Please continue in a moment of silent, personal confession.) If you have a prayer request, please see Darryl or call us at Children s Activity Bags are available for children age 3 to Grade 5. They include a children s bulletin related to the Sunday sermon, crayons, and scrap paper. An usher would be happy to bring you one. Children s Church is available for children, 4 years to 2 nd Grade. After the A Word with Our Children, they will be escorted to the Children s Church. After worship, parents may pick up children in the Children s Church Classroom, which is on the 3 rd floor, first room on the right. Upcoming The flowers on the altar are given to the Glory of God and in memory of John S. Aiken whose birthday was June 9 th by his daughter Jane and his granddaughters Anna Victoria and Mary Elizabeth. If you would like to contribute flowers for worship, please see the sign up poster on the bulletin board just outside the church office. The cost for an arrangement is $56. Summer Sunday School begins TODAY: Summer Stories for youth and adults 9th grade and up - Who doesn t love a good story, especially one that tells about the amazing love and healing power of Jesus! Each of us has stories to tell, even as we may struggle with feeling ordinary or not good enough. That s what is so amazing--god meets us right where we are; and so often we know this truth personally, yet we do not share in the joy of experiencing it together. Summer Stories gives us a relaxing space to talk about the encouraging ways God works in our lives. This summer we will continue with the beloved Summer Stories of last year as we share not only our lives together, but help one another see how God is working in us today. It is a wonderful time to make or deepen friendships while learning about God. The men will meet in the Session room and the women will meet in the Drummond classroom. SHINE for children 3 years - 4th grade will be led by a rotation of teachers during the Sunday School hour in the Children's Church room on the 3rd floor. Hands on Psalms for youth in grades 5 through 8 will be led by Tracy Caskey in the 5 th & 6 th grade classroom on the 3 rd floor. VBS is scheduled for THIS WEEK, June 13 through 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with dinner and group worship in the fellowship hall and children's class rotations in various classrooms. Bill Jolley will be teaching an adult class in the sanctuary. To help ease the registration process, please visit our website to print out a registration form. Print, fill it in, scan and to AmyHamilton@firstpresb.org today. Or pick up a registration form while you re at church and give to Amy. The menu for the week is Monday: Roasted Pork, Tuesday: Hamburgers, Wednesday: Cheese It Chicken, and Thursday: Hot Dogs. We d love to see everyone there! Harold McManus, Bonnie Goodnight's cousin's husband, has been fighting brain tumors, has two new ones. Starting a new treatment with possible bad side effects. Christ the Word church plant in Rolesville, NC with Patrick Cherry. Dave Viscount, friend of Mark Goodnight, suffering from ALS. Morgan McDaniel, in the Air Force reserves in Kuwait until August or September. Address is McDaniel/Morgan, 332 AEW/EFS, Unit 63306, APO AE Becky Johnson, hospice. David Threatt, recovering from a lung transplant. Beth Barnhardt, friend of Judy Hammond, is still having difficulty seeing clearly. Lori Holder, daughter of Sam McAllister, has MS. Dena Berry, Sam McAllister s sister, advanced cancer. Susan (Hodge) Thomas, recovering from hip surgery. Max Collins, Marsha Osburn s dad, who has cancer. Brittney Harrison, Rob Osburn s cousin in Washington State has cancer. Joyce Weaver, health issues. Don Hamilton, Cookie s husband, is on dialysis. Charlene Booth s great grandson, Matthew, is suffering seizures. Iris Efird, continued strength and increased mobility with right arm and leg. Dot Williams, declining in health.
