1 Welcome and Announcements The Prelude The Prayer of Invocation and The Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. The Call to Worship: From Psalm 135 Leader: Praise the LORD! 2 Confessing Our Faith: (responsive from Our World Belongs in the Worship Sourcebook #27, p.163) As followers of Jesus Christ, living in this world which some seek to control, but which others view with despair we declare with joy and trust: ALL: Our world belongs to God! From the beginning through all the crisis of our times, until his kingdom fully comes, God keeps covenant forever. ALL: Our world belongs to him! God is King! Let the earth be glad! Christ is Victor; his rule has begun. Hallelujah! The Spirit is at work, renewing the creation. Praise the Lord! Gloria Patri: (Hymnal #735) Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen. The Confession of Sin All: O Lord, great God, all holy, Father most gracious, filled with mercy and steadfast love, We are embarrassed to come before you, for we have preferred the ways of this world to your ways, for we have rebelled against your wisdom and we have gotten into trouble, for we have rejected your fatherly guidance and have gotten lost altogether. And therefore we are embraced. To you belongs righteousness, O Lord, and to us confusion of face. O Lord, great God, all holy filled with awe, Father, most gracious, filled with mercy and steadfast love. Incline your ear to our troubles. Hear us when we pour out our sorrows before you. Forgive us, not on the ground of our own righteousness, but on the ground of your great mercy. On the ground of your great mercy in the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ. It is in his name that we pray, for he is our Savior and the mediator of the new covenant of grace. Amen. The Silent Confession of Private Sin The Assurance of Pardon: Hebrews 7:24-25 Because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

The Prayer of Praise The New Testament reading: Matthew 6: And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 9 Pray then like this: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. 5 The Three-Fold Amen (hymnal #740) Amen, Amen, Amen. Dear Covenant Church, The Word of our God teaches us that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD (Dt. 8:3). Every day we need to remember that the strength, intelligence and the abilities that we use as we work and as we enjoy life come from our God who made us. Everything that we enjoy comes from the LORD. The God of the Bible is the great and awesome God who by his mercy and grace has rescued us from the curse of sin and from the bondage and dominion of sin. In Christ he forgave us. On the cross Jesus paid it all. By faith in Him we have been justified before the Holy judge of all the earth. God has made us his people and new creation by his own power, because of his love and mercy, for his glory!! The Lord willing, this coming Sunday we will be reflecting on Daniel 9:1-19 and remember and learn an important lesson on Biblical prayer. I look forward to worshiping our Lord with all of you this coming Sunday!
