1 1 June 1, 2017 Volume 1, Presbyterian Voice May letter from Elder of the month, Cris Brockman Greetings Church Family, What an exciting month it has been! Flowers and gardens are growing, the rain has been falling, and the pollen count is through the roof. With the kids out of school, it is a start to a busy summer! Our family has a bunch of Girl and Boy Scout camps, Heartland church camp, and with any luck will get some time at the lake. This month, our church family has studied about a lot of many interesting topics. We started out with agriculture, Sheppard s, and how smart sheep are (if you are wondering no, they aren t smart). Then, we moved on to learning about spiritual milk. Explaining how like a newborn baby longs for milk to quench his/her thirst, we must long (desire) for the pure milk of the word. We even had a lesson on architecture with living stones. More importantly, how critical the corner stone (Jesus) is as it is the principal stone placed to give stability and strength to the stones (us) that make up the firm foundation (church). The Corner Stone is a great visualization for my family right now as we are in the middle of a construction project. What a great reminder that we need to put God first and let Him be the corner stone of our lives from which all things are built! Pastor Ku had also ministered on the resurrection, the Father s house, last statements to loved ones, and being prepared. Being prepared this reminded me of a work training I attended over 10 years ago. All of the sales people were asked to write an elevator speech. The concept was to consider what would you do if you were making a sales call and as you got into the elevator you notice the CEO of the company in that elevator with you. Would you be prepared to sell your product and company on that 30-second elevator ride? It made me ponder what I need to do to feel ready to present the gospel on that ride. I would like to think that I am continuing to grow spiritually, so I can be prepared for that elevator ride in which God impresses upon me to speak of the way, the truth, and the life. Summer activities: Bird watching, listening to the birds, fishing, outside in shade reading a book, swimming,vacation, camping, barbecue's with family, picnic's horseshoes, baseball, s'mores, fruits of the summer, fairs, picnic's, gardening. planting flowers, walking, bicycling, have a walk, bug and lizard catching & release, boating, state and local parks. watch out for creature's on the road. Alexandrite. Or moonstone Pearl signifies faithfulness, friendship and loyalty; and considered a symbol of purity, chastity and modesty while Alexandrite is associated with good omens and good luck. In fact, Alexandrite is believed to strengthen the intuition and creativity of the wearer and creates a balance between the physical and spiritual world. Moonstone, the third June birthstone signifies longevity and good health and is a talisman for safe travel. The June birthstone was widely used to prepare medicines in Europe, Persia and China and was believed to be a cure for insanity. Alexandrite is thought to heighten the intuitive capacity to such an extent that the wearer may often be able to predict an even. Alexandrite has extremely calming properties and balances the emotional state of the wearer. It is especially helpful to balance the functioning of the circulatory system.
