All Are Welcome! A Service of Worship Celebrating the Life of Lorraine Tokheim will be held at St. Paul s tomorrow, Thursday, May 12, at 11:00 a.m. with a Luncheon Reception following. A Service of Worship Celebrating the Life of Robin Penny Hendrix, daughter of Bob and Connie Pfirmann, will be held on Sunday, May 15, at 1:00 p.m. at Callaghan Mortuary, 3833 East Avenue, Livermore. Without this story, we would lack an interesting insight into the desire of Jesus to engage in Intentional Faith Development at the age of 12. Jesus' desire to learn began at home with his parents. His parents provided the important foundation needed for his faith formation. KIDS ZONE is geared for children preschool through fifth grade. Our youth 6 th through 12 th grade students are welcome to be Faith Buddies as they work with the children by providing assistance to the adult leaders.

3 Reconciling/Inclusive Church Ministry This Sunday, May 15 at 11:30 after Worship in the Fireside Room a meeting will be held for everyone interested in finding out more about our process to become a reconciling/inclusive congregation. The Steering Committee members will be at the meeting to share their thoughts, and encourage questions and ideas. We will discuss the next steps in our spiritual journey together to see and accept and welcome all people as created in God's image.

4 Tuesday Small Group Study Embracing an Alternative Orthodoxy Begins May 17 th at 10:00 a.m. in the Fireside Room St. Francis is the topic for the five-week study with a video. Everyone is welcome to join the study. Thank You from Manteca Garden Club Thank you so much for supporting the Manteca Garden Club by sharing your lovely gardens. We know your members work very hard to keep the gardens so nice. Your support contributes to our non-profit work with city projects, school gardens and scholarships. Thank you, Paula Elias, President Manteca Garden Club Delta Blood Bank Volunteers Needed People are often reminded how important it is to donate blood. Manteca's blood bank, know as Delta Blood Bank and affiliated with the American Red Cross is located at 1030 N. Main Street in the shopping center across the street from Fagundes Deli and Meat Market. St. Paul's volunteers assist with running the donor's canteen the first Monday of the month. This past Monday regular volunteers Lynne McKinney, Sandra Duncan, Mae Abatangle, and Mary Lingenfelter helped out. Glenn Phillips and Phil Hall took a turn the last two months. We served 30 persons who made blood donations this past Monday. Needed persons willing to help from 6-8:30 the first Monday of the month. Wanted: Missing Church Directory Drafts We are ready to prepare the new church directories for distribution to the congregation; however, we are missing 3 of the draft copies that were distributed for review and revisions by the congregation. In order to make sure the directory is accurate, we need to locate the 3 missing yellow directory drafts. If you are in possession or know the whereabouts of one of the missing copies, please contact the church office. Thank you!

6 Graduate Recognition Sunday is June 26 th! We will recognize the accomplishments of all our graduates in the Worship Service. Temporary Housing Need St. Paul s member, Anila Gill, who has been living out of state for the past couple of years has a need for her, her husband and young son to return to California temporarily for a couple of months starting in June and is looking for a home or rooms to rent in a home for that time period in the Manteca, Modesto or Stockton area. If you have a place, or know of a accommodations they could rent for those couple of months, please contact the church office. DID YOU KNOW Friday 13 th Or is it the 17 th of Tuesday? There is only one Friday the 13 th in 2016, which is in May The next Friday the 13 th in May will be in Fear of Friday the 13 th is called Paraskevidekatriaphobia - from the Greek words paraskeví (meaning 'Friday'), and dekatreís, (meaning 'thirteen'). That is a mouthful! The Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute estimates 20% of Americans fear Friday the 13 th. If a month begins on Sunday, it will have a Friday the 13 th. The 1907 Wall Street Panic -- a Rich Man s Panic -- occurred on Friday the 13 th. The British Medical Journal concluded there is a significant level of traffic-related incidents on Friday the 13 th. The longest time between Fridays the 13 th is 14 months, but there is at least one each year. In many Western countries tall buildings are missing the 13th floor. It is considered very unlucky for thirteen people to dine together, and the first to rise will reach serious misfortune - a superstition upheld by US President Roosevelt. He also refused to travel on Friday the 13th. 7 Stephen Ministers The symbol for Stephen Ministry is a cross and circle along with a broken person and a whole person. The broken person behind the cross symbolizes the brokenness in our lives due to the realities of our time on this earth. The whole person in front of the cross symbolizes the wholeness we can receive through the cross of Jesus. The circle symbolizes both the wholeness we receive through Christ and God's unending love for us.
