As we pray together, we are reminded that our calling as members of the body of Christ is to pursue and embody justice. Our unity in Christ empowers us to take part in the wider struggle for justice and to promote the dignity of life. 2 PASTORAL LEADER S NOTES Dear Parishioners, THANK YOU!!!!!! Special thanks to the Winneconne Parish Council for organizing our 4th Annual Winter Mingle in Winneconne last weekend! It was a fantastic event for our parish with over 75 adults getting to know each other in Kaudy Hall while about 30 children enjoyed games, crafts and movies along with a pizza party in the downstairs area of church. The best part of all was that EVERYONE had a great time together and can t wait to do it again NEXT year. Someone even suggested that we should have a Summer Mingle. What are your thoughts about that idea?????? This weekend I am at my annual family gathering in Winter Garden, Florida. You may remember that last year my family gathered at the beginning of January in Omaha, NE, for my sister s wedding where it was 10 degrees below zero. This week it is supposed to be in the upper 70 s in Winter Garden. I guess I won t need my mittens or boots for this vacation! Here s a picture of downtown Winter Garden which is located 14 miles west of Orlando with a population of about 43,000. Winter Mingle 2019 Is in the Books as a Success!! 3 STEWARDSHIP ALPHA HOLY SPIRIT RETREAT: It is not too late! Please contact the office to register for our last retreat: Tuesday, January 29, :00am-1:00pm *Retreats will be held in the home of a parishioner. Registered retreatants will be provided with location details. The Discipleship Process leads to encountering Jesus more deeply and when this happens we become Grateful Stewards who Share, Serve, and Pray with joyful hearts. International Week of Prayer for Christian Unity January 18-25, 2019 The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity has a history of over 100 years..., in which Christians around the world have taken part in an octave of prayer for visible Christian unity. By annually observing the WPCU, Christians move toward the fulfillment of Jesus' prayer at the Last Supper "that they all may be one." (cf. John 17:21) Christian communities "become newly aware of their unity as they join in a common concern and a common response to an unjust reality. At the same time, confronted by these injustices, we are obliged, as Christians, to examine the ways in which we are complicit. Only by heeding Jesus s prayer 'that they all may be one' can we witness to living unity in diversity. It is through our unity in Christ that we will be able to combat injustice and serve the needs of its victims. -Be Grateful, Pray, Serve, Share - Winter Mingle Children enjoyed the evening in the lower level of the church. Games, movies & crafts along with plenty to eat 6 large pizzas, lemonade, veggie tray, grapes and 3 boxes of Scooby snacks!! Made for a great time!!
