The afternoon will be filled with great food and conversation as well as swimming and other activities as the Kalsey family hosts the picnic at their home. The church will provide the main course (chicken from Giant Eagle) and the drinks, you can bring a side dish or dessert to share if you re able. We ll plan on eating the meal around 1 pm but you are welcome to come early and/or stay late. The party will run from noon to 5 pm. The Kalsey property has plenty of space for everyone. There s a pool with a slide, separate large patio and deck spaces with lots of places to relax both in and out of the sun, a yard to play corn hole and other games, and an immaculately clean garage to serve and eat the meal. We ll play BINGO (for all ages) starting at 2 PM. Prizes will be given to the winners. There will also be a volleyball tournament happening throughout the day starting at 1:30 PM. Register your team of 6 people on Sunday mornings in August or sign up at the picnic before 1 PM. You can also sign up via (send the to beckyannjuliano@gmail.com). Each team must have at least one player under the age of 25 and one player over the age of 35. Finally we would appreciate any help you are able to provide to make this event a success. Please take a look at the list below and let me know where you would like to be involved! You can sign up to help by ing me at beckyannjuliano@gmail.com or calling the church office. Here are some of the jobs we need help with: Picnic set up on Friday or Saturday Transportation of tables, chairs, and other supplies to and from the house Provision of outdoor games (i.e. spike ball, corn hole, can jam, etc.) Game and/or activity facilitation during the picnic (BINGO, volleyball tournament, kids games) Table and chair tear down General clean up
2 Discipleship & Fellowship Connect Fellowship Time Connect, our weekly time of snacks and fellowship after morning worship, continues. Our hope is that everyone will stop and gather for a short time to connect with each other or meet new people on Sunday mornings. Connect happens outside on the front steps of the church, weather permitting. Plan on lingering for a bit to chat and get to know others at FPC. Also, I m looking for people who would be willing to bring a snack to share. There will be several people bringing things each week, so don t worry about feeding the whole church. You can sign up by ing me (beckyannjuliano@gmail.com) or contacting the church office ( ). Sunday Discipleship Hour Table Talk continues through the summer. Anyone is welcome to come. We start at 8:30 AM and conclude by 9:45 AM. Childcare is not provided. Also, there are no children s classes throughout the summer. Our last Sunday of Table Talk for the summer will be August 26 th. On Sunday, September 2 nd we ll gather at 9 AM for a light breakfast and to spend time praying for the upcoming year at the church, the schools, and the community. Missional Living by Becky Juliano Our church is situated just beyond the Waynesburg University campus. Many students attend Sunday worship and/or Wednesday dinners. We, as a church, and you, as an individual or family, have a great opportunity to impact a student at a critical point in their life. There are a variety of ways to be involved in the lives of these students. Here are a few ideas Pray for them. Show up for the Wednesday dinner at the church and eat a meal with them. Serve behind the scenes. We are always in need of help in the kitchen for Wednesday dinners. Invite a couple students to have lunch with you after Sunday worship. Offer to let them use your washer and dryer to do laundry. Bake cookies or other snacks and give it to a student on a Sunday morning and just say, Thanks for worshipping with us this morning! L.I.F.E. Groups Don t miss your chance to be a part of a L.I.F.E. Group and get connected with others in the congregation this year! The groups are committed to L.I.F.E. (Learning God s Word together, Interacting with God, Fellowship with one another, and Extending ourselves to others). Start planning now by praying and finding a way to set aside time to commit to a group (recognizing that it may be costly to find that space in your schedule). Look for opportunities to sign up this month. You can also contact Becky Juliano (beckyannjuliano@gmail.com) or Dave Baily (dbaily@bailyagency.com) about available opportunities or if you have any questions. Remember Worship time will change from 10:00 am to 10:30 am September 5th

4 Mission Corner by Kathie Bortz We support The Caribbean Youth Network, which is a non-profit mission organization based out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The CYN was created and is supported by people from all over the US and Caribbean who have a heart for making a Kingdom difference in the Caribbean islands. Our purpose is to serve as an international mission organization fostering the planting, partnering, and networking of relational, Christcentered youth ministry to the ends that youth can be introduced to the Gospel and grow into a mature relationship with Christ. Dan & Kelly Weightman continue to develop the soccer ministry on Nassau, which has seen players bringing their friends. It s been a great vehicle for both outreach and discipleship. Dan is mentoring Jude Vilma and Bob and Connie Mastin as they begin their ministries on the island and is also writing a grant application to fund more CYN staff and programs. Thank you for supporting the work of CYN Lives are being changed every day We appreciate you and all you give to reach the young people and their families in the Bahamas. You are a blessing! Karen Poppen CYN Board Member We support Interserve one of the oldest international, interdenominational, overseasfocused agencies in existence. It began in 1852 in South Asia to care for the poor and marginalized in such a way that they could encounter Jesus and experience the life that He wanted for them. Work has been busy here but there have been times when it has been quiet. There are always things going on that keep us relying on God to help us through, whether it is relationship problems, nurses not getting along with each other or just tiredness and heat, they bring their challenges....summer has come early this year. This last week it have been between 110 and 115F. My kitchen is often like an oven so I find myself soaked by the time I have finished cooking. With the heat comes the tiredness. Pray for us during these hot months. Pray that we will be given the strength that we need and to be patient with each other....pray that I will stay close to the Lord even when things are hard going, whether it is work related, feeling lonely, missing my children, wondering where home is or missing Dale. Yes it is nearly 16 years since Dale went home to be with God, but it is still hard at times. Our wedding anniversary is the 13th of June and Dale s death the13th of July. But through it all I know that I have a God that I can trust. So I continue to trust Him, knowing that He will lead me and show the way that I should go. God is good. 6 Crossroads Youth Ministry by Juan Gallo My message this month is a heartfelt one. Having experienced personal transformation through our Summer Mission trips to Pine Springs Camp and the Dominican Republic this year, and having seen transformation taking place in the lives of others during these trips, my prayer is simply that more would experience this for themselves. We have one year to recruit as many as we can for our trips next summer. Mission EX will be at the end of June and the DR will be at the beginning of July. Highlight these dates now. Pray about these dates and these trips, as well as the individuals that you wish to see in attendance. God meets us when we are willing to step out in faith and go where He is calling us. Please consider doing everything possible to provide someone you love with an opportunity to meet God in missions. Mission Ex Pine Springs, Jennerstown, PA Meeting God in Missions, Dominican Republic
