We rejoice in our unique goodness and in the abundance of creative gifts you have freely given us. Open our minds and hearts to know our talents and gifts, and grace us with courage and conviction in using them for the good of our St. Thomas Aquinas parish family. Stir us with courage that we may point out others talents and gifts and encourage them to bring their creative gifts to the work of our parish. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 2 Father Mike s Musings I thank each of you who participated in Monday night s Mass at St. Mark. We have formally begun our Pastoral Area Study and I believe Bishop Fitzgerald set the proper tone by his reference to the reality and the pain that the local church of Philadelphia has changed which points to the necessity of planning for a long future for the parishes in our area. His acknowledging the struggle while calling us to be respectful and charitable towards all the parishioners in our area throughout the process will guide us in the months long process. Our love for the Church cannot be forgotten. I am happy to announce that I have appointed Derek debeaumont and Susan Horger as our representatives for the area-wide discussions. Derek, Susan and I will be asking your suggestions throughout the process. Four meetings are now scheduled: October 15 and 29, November 12 and December 3. If necessary other meetings may be scheduled in January and February. You will all be informed about the content of each meeting, to help you in making suggestions. I simply enclose how we compare with the 6 other parishes in terms of baptisms, weddings, and Mass attendance from as a bulletin insert this week. These are some facts which will steer future recommendations. Remember...elections of 2 members to Pastoral Council next weekend. Our candidates are: Marie Bosco, Phil DeMichele, Al Scheck, and Denis Schafer. We continue to move forward as a parish family. This same notice has been given to the Leaders of the groups who meet here during the week. If you know anything about the damaged fence, please call Fr. Mike at Our Parish Celebrates! Deacon John and Father Mike look forward to thanking you then. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PARISH VOLUNTEER DINNER Name: Phone #: Number attending: Parish Registration Am I a registered member of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish? It has come to our attention that many people think they are registered members of the parish because they were baptized here, went to school here and live in the same home as when they were children. In addition, there is a presumption that their children are registered in the parish. It is important for every adult, age 21, for our registration purposes; to please register by completing a parish census form. This will avoid any misinformation or misconceptions when requesting Sacraments and/or Letters of Eligibility to be a sponsor. Please contact the Parish Office to verify your status. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. 077 PAGE 5
