2 Respect For Life Month is October.... East Central Area Missouri Right to Life has two main fundraiser, a Spring and a Fall Rummage Bake Sale. This year their Fall Rummage and Bake Sale will take place on Saturday, October 27th from 7:30 am until 12:00 pm in the St. Francis Borgia School Cafeteria in Washington, MO. If anyone has clean usable clothing, small household items, or plants to donate, can drop these items off on Friday, October 26th between 8:30 am and 6:00 pm. Also, baked items will be needed for their Bake Sale. Funds received from the sales go to support pregnancy assistance centers and pro-life educational efforts locally. Again this year, East Central Area Missouri Right to Life has set aside funds for students who would like to attend the March for Life in Washington, D.C., in January If a parish student would like to attend and need financial assistance, please let Diane Glosemeyer at or Carolyn Phillips at know by November 24th or as soon as possible. Students can be from home school families, public and parochial school students. Scheduled events for the month scheduled to honor life include: October 7th Life Chain in many communities, 2:30 3:30 pm October 8th 40 Days for Life Prayer Vigil at Planned Parenthood of St. Louis, MO. October 18th Annual Celebrate Life Banquet at the First Baptist Church on 14th Street in Washington. Reservations are needed. October 28th Respect Life Apostolate Pro-Life Convention at the St. Charles Center. The Missouri Life Caravan registration forms will be available in early October. Buses depart from several areas throughout St. Louis. 3 PARISH NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS St. Clare Welcomes the Daughters of Isabella State Workshop Attendees St. Clare Circle #1082 Daughters of Isabella hosted the Missouri workshop this week and now join us for our 4:30 pm this weekend. Members from 11 state circles attended the workshop which was held at the KC Hall. The first circle of the Order was founded in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1897, as an auxiliary to the Rev. John Russell Council of the Knights of Columbus for the purpose of uniting all Catholic women in a sisterhood to achieve the following aims: To know one another better To extend our circle of friends To centralize all our resources to better help one another To be a greater force to contend with in the pursuit of good in our society Today, it is one of the largest Catholic women s organizations, with a membership of over 60,000 women from the United States and Canada and has continued to prosper and establish bonds among Catholic women throughout the world. Members encourage each other s total development and foster growth of every aspect of life spiritual, social and charitable adding up to a more fulfilling life! The Order of the Daughters of Isabella is open to all women, age 16 and over, who are Catholics. As a member of the Daughters of Isabella, you will have the opportunity to make new friends, express your views, enhance your spiritual life and become as active as you wish. Your talents and energies will be recognized and are needed. These are things like paper towels, toilet paper, wipes, diapers, hygiene products, other toiletries, soap, laundry detergents, dishwashing soaps, shampoo, baby wash, etc. If you can help, please bring your donations and place in back of church in the Catholic Services box. The monthly Deanery Pro-Life Holy Hour will be held on Monday, September 24th at 7:00 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Adoration Chapel with prayers and Benediction for Respect for Life, offering reparation for 60 million babies killed by abortion, and that America will once again protect the lives of the unborn. Our Lord stated to Sister Lucia of Fatima: I want my whole Church to acknowledge that Consecration as a triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary so that it may put the devotion to this Immaculate Heart beside the devotion to My Sacred Heart. Saint Pope John Paul II united Fatima and Divine Mercy. He said: If you put yourself in her hands, this is how she will use you. The Immaculate Heart leads us to the Sacred Heart. EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP - RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR ORDINARY MOMENTS If you have traveled on Southwest Airlines, you are aware of how they line people up prior to boarding. You receive a lettered group of A, B, or C and a number. You line up with your group and in sequence based on your numbers. This means that before every flight, you'll hear people ask over and over, "What number are you?" Some don't ask and simply place themselves in the line. I have been A-1 before and had someone stand in line in front of me. There is nothing before A-1 in the line! It is crazy the urgency of some to board the plane and get the perfect seat. For some, I think it has more to do with a sense of entitlement. No one is going to cheat me out of my place in line! I deserve it! Of course, you can't deserve your place in the line more than another. We are all getting on the plane and going to the same place. In life, some of us act like people in a Southwest boarding line. We want our place in line, and we will sometimes put ourselves ahead of others without merit. Good stewardship allows us to see our actions in this regard as folly. Jesus said, "If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all." We are called to serve and not to be served. If we seek what we truly deserve in this life, we will find that we are not actually entitled to much. If we humble ourselves and seek to serve others, we will receive an abundance of good things, even though we still won't deserve it.
