Cason Senior Pastor Scott Harris Assistant Pastor HARVEST FESTIVAL, OCTOBER 25, 5:00PM-7:00PM Harvest Festival is something to look forward to every year, when the temperature gets cooler and we prepare to celebrate a season of Thanksgiving. We grow together and we grow with our community when we welcome people to be part of an experience that offers our service and hospitality. This is our largest special event of the year, reaching nearly 600 people, and growing. It allows a unique opportunity for outreach, so invite other people to come participate in the family fun! One of the most rewarding parts of the Harvest Festival, for me, is witnessing joy on the faces of children and watching it all come together through the hands of many faithful volunteers. Thank you for serving. Your service and commitment make this event possible. Please allow me to help you get plugged in if you have not already signed up to volunteer! We challenge you to participate in our first pumpkin carving contest! This is replacing the chili cook-off from years past. You may enter the contest as an individual or with a group, such as your Sunday school class, family, or small group. The grand prize winner will receive a $100 Visa gift card, and all pumpkins will be on display as decoration for the festival. Please bring your carved pumpkin to the side parking lot of the church by 5:00PM on the day of the festival. This is a free event, with live music, and there are new games and activities to enjoy, in addition to old favorites like pony rides, a hay ride, train ride, cake walk, face painting, bounce houses, football toss, photo booth, fishing and more! Join us next Sunday and remember to invite someone to come experience the fun and fellowship! Please be in prayer for Pastor Jimmy as he will preaching Sunday morning at the 200th Homecoming at Waynesboro First United Methodist Church. Then he will preach revival services there Sunday through Wednesday nights at 7:00PM nightly. Statesboro First United Methodist Church Volunteers Needed The Ogeechee Fair Parade is tomorrow and we need you! This is a perfect opportunity to share popcorn, water and the love of Jesus with the local community. There will be bounce houses and music to entertain folks as they wait for the parade to begin. We will also be handing out invitations to the Harvest Festival, which is the following Sunday. We re counting on you to provide the broad smiles and warm hearts to welcome them. Come at 4:00PM and be a part of Statesboro First United Methodist s outreach team! United Methodist Women Lanier-Lee Circle The Lanier-Lee UMW Circle will meet this Monday, October 19, at 1:30PM. The meeting will take place at the church in room 103. The Upper Room Daily Devotional Complimentary copies of the Upper Room daily devotional guide are available in the Gathering Area near the church office. Each day s reading is designed to share real-life examples of people trying to live faithfully, using the Bible as the basis for faithful living. Listen to Sermons Online Audio recordings from Pastor Jimmy and Pastor Scott s sermons are posted on the church s website each week. You may listen to them on your computer or download and save them for later. Type into your web browser to listen and download sermon recordings. Wednesday Night Menu - October 21-5:30PM RJ s: Fried or Baked Chicken, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, Green Beans, Salad, Roll Meals are $6.00 for adults; $4.00 for kids 12 and under; $2.00 for PB&J sandwich and chips. 3 Youth Ministries News Sunday Night Surge - October 18 Middle School will meet from 5:00PM 6:30PM and High School will meet from 7:00PM 8:30PM in the Youth Room. This is a time of fellowship, dinner, games, worship, and a message. Bring $2 for dinner. Breakfast Club - October 19 This event is for Middle and High School Students. We meet upstairs at 7:00AM on the third floor in room 306 for breakfast (Chick-fil-A and Daylight Donuts), a devotional, and then we give students a ride to school. Bring $2 for breakfast. Middle School Retreat November 6 8 Students will leave after school on November 6 for a weekend at Epworth By The Sea packed with fun activities as well as times of worship and growth. The total cost for the weekend is $175, which will include all activities, food, and lodging. There are around 40 children who participate in this program on Wednesday nights, under the direction of Ashley Wren and Lainie Harris. The children are learning both traditional and contemporary worship songs, in addition to the Christmas program they will present on December 9.
