October 4, 2015 Welcome from Pastor Bob Welcome to St. Paul United Methodist Church! Whether you re a long-time member or a first time guest, I'm glad you're here during our season of revival! I am so excited about this time of renewal for our church. I would like to invite you to join us on Wednesdays as well. Each Wednesday through November 4 we are meeting in the sanctuary at 6:30 p.m. for a weekly prayer worship, and I am expecting miracles! I would also like to invite you to our Arts and Crafts Show on Saturday. Our United Methodist Women are hosting over 85 vendors of handcrafted items. You will be amazed at all the wonderful things for sale. If you would like to know more about St. Paul, our ministries, and our mission to Glorify God, Grow in Faith, and Give in Love, I invite you to look through this bulletin, to visit our website at stpaulumc.org, or stop by the Connection Center on Sunday mornings. I'm so excited about what the Lord is doing here at St. Paul, and I thank each of you for being a part of it. Bob Martin, Senior Pastor

World Communion Sunday Today is World Communion Sunday, a day when we emphasize that the body of Christ shares the sacrament in rich diversity while affirming that "there is one body and one Spirit one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one god and Father of us all." (Ephesians 4:4) Stay and Pray If you need additional prayer, stay and pray today in the chapel after each worship. Someone will pray with you, or if you prefer, you are welcome to pray silently. Construction Update We continue to work on the punch list of remaining items to complete. This week the bell tower in the CLEC had its walls repaired from water damage and everything was repainted. New tiles will be laid there the week of October 12, and carpeting in the first and second floor elevator hallways will be replaced. The two windows needing to be replaced are still on back order, but should be shipped within the next 10 days. The exterior of the CLEC is being repaired and new EIFS materials installed to match the exterior of the building. Keep the project in your prayers during these final days as we wrap everything up. The meeting will encourage and share strong UMW ministries, include a devotional, Bible comment, special prayers, and more. Our speaker is Janice Snow, a choir member, who will share a strong Christian woman story and a special song. Jan, who is blind, entitles the sharing: 20/20 Vision! Refreshments provided. Encourage a guest to attend UMW Rachel-Lydia with you. New faces are welcome! During the meeting the group will pass the Dennis Memorial Pediatric Mission monthly donation envelope. For years, Rachel-Lydia has supported The Children s Center at Sabal Palms in Largo via financial gifts and faithful visits to resident children. Rosemary Potter, co-leader of Rachel-Lydia, often visits and works with two of its residents, Jordan and Kevin (pictured below). The quality time she spends with both brings rays of sunshine into their lives. Storytelling, singing, praying and talking of sporting events not only helps enlighten Jordan and Kevin on current events but reinforces in their minds that someone from St. Paul Church loves them and is sharing the love of Jesus with them as well.

Youth 6th-12th Grade, Alison Van Duyne, Youth Ministry Director, Sunday Night Youth Group TONIGHT: GIVE ME MORE Bottom Line: Generosity gets you what selfishness never will. Would you like to upgrade your phone? Of course you would! What about your wardrobe? We all love to get more and better stuff. And, after the first upgrade, we usually want another. One dose of more always leads us to want another. It s normal. But sometimes our normal way of doing things has unintended side effects. In this case, our quest for more can keep us dissatisfied and make us miserable. Maybe that s why King Solomon, who had more riches than we can imagine, gives us such clear advice when it comes to this. Through his words we discover that giving, not getting, is how we go for the win when in our endless desire for more. Join the middle and high school youth from 5:30 8 p.m. Students are invited for group games, exciting crowd breakers, passionate worship, biblical teaching, and a chance to connect with others through Source Groups. The group meets in the Mariposa Café at 5:30 p.m., then branches out to the Youth Room, the Gym or the Fellowship Hall. New dinner policy: Dinner is $4 on Sunday or $3 if student reserves a meal online by Weds. Visit stpaulumc.org to reserve your meal.. The pumpkin patch opens October 7! Come pick out your pumpkin! Sunday-Friday: Noon to 8 p.m. Saturday: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. We still have open shifts! Sign up at stpaulumc.org 6 Children infant-5th grade Sunday Morning Lil Kidz Care Lil Kidz Care is available every Sunday for infants to 4-year-olds, at 8:45 a.m. in the nursery building (Bldg B) next to the sanctuary. Sign in and be given a pick-up card that you will need to pick-up your child. Sunday Morning Lil Kidz Class Our preschool class for 3 to 4 year-olds meets at 10:30 a.m. in the Red Door Room of Bldg C. Sunday Morning for K 5 Sunday Morning Small Group at 9:00 a.m. South Fellowship Hall in Bldg C. Sunday Morning Worship at 10:30 a.m. South Fellowship Hall in Bldg C. Parent's Morning Out Parent's Morning Out is a safe place where your kids can have fun while you take time for yourself. PMO is available Tues. and Thurs. from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost is just $20 per day, per child. Reserve a spot by calling Worship Arts Class Weds. at 6:30 p.m. South Fellowship Hall The Worship Arts Team invites your children to experience worship in creative ways as well as take part in singing and praise. Kids 3rd grade and up also have the chance to play instruments. This Week's Lesson: School School doesn t seem like the obvious place to worship God, but God wants us to proclaim His name and live like He did humbly, and helping others when needed. And He wants us to stand strong in the face of persecution. Kids will see how Paul & Silas did that in Acts 16:16-40.

Women s Ministry Annual Prayer Breakfast Saturday, October 24 at 9 a.m. Program: Confessions of a Pastor s Wife by Sarah Baldridge Music: Michele Powers This year's speaker is Sarah Baldridge, a native of Kentucky who has spent the past 28 years of her life living and serving here in Florida as a wife, mother, teacher, and pastor s spouse. Her passion for teaching has always been a constant in her life. She now leads adults, especially women, in practical Bible studies and applying God s truths in our everyday life. She delights in sharing His word and the JOY of Christian living. Tickets are $12, and may be purchased between church services in the courtyard or in the workroom in the church office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. 12 p.m. Technical Arts Team Meeting If you are part of the Technical Arts Team or you would like to join the team, meet next Sunday, October 11 at 4:15 p.m. in the back of the sanctuary. We will have snacks and go over some training, refreshing and reminders. If you are currently part of the team and unable to make it, contact Laurel Fortuna in advance at laurel.f@stpaulumc.org. Weekly Prayer Worship Wednesdays 6:30 p.m. Sanctuary We had a great response to our first Weekly Prayer Worship. Many people have told us that the worship moved them in a personal way. We hope to keep this great momentum going. If you experienced something special last week, bring a friend with you this week so they can also feel the Holy Spirit moving. If you weren't able to come last week, we invite you to join us this week at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary as we lift up our prayers to the Lord together. Doors open at 6 p.m. and we ask that you enter through the front. 7 Heralds of Harmony Concert Tickets On Sale November 29 2:30 p.m. Sanctuary St. Paul United Methodist Church is hosting a performance of the Tampa Bay Heralds of Harmony under the direction of Tony De Rosa. The Heralds of Harmony placed in the Top 10 of all choruses at the international competition held in Pittsburg, PA this year. The November 29 show includes many favorite numbers of the chorus and a performance by one of their top quartets. All proceeds of the performance go to fund the annual budget of St. Paul UMC. Tickets are on sale today in the courtyard. You can also buy tickets at the church office or online. Tickets are $20 each. An extra $3 will be added to any order made by credit card. All tickets are general admission, so plan to come early to get a great seat. You and your guests will be amazed as you hear Men's A Capella Music at Its Finest! Pastor's Coffee If you're new to St. Paul, are interested in becoming a member, or would like to know more about St. Paul, our ministries and our mission to Glorify God, Grow in Faith and Give in Love, Pastor Bob invites you to join him for coffee on Sunday, October 18. Join Pastor Bob in the Connection Center (off the side of the sanctuary lobby) at 11:45 a.m. If you plan to attend, please church@stpaulumc.org by October 14 and let us know you're coming.

Fellowship Team Are you interested in helping to organize Christian social and fellowship events for St. Paul members and friends? If you would like to help organize St. Paul gatherings at various off campus events like sporting events, concerts, etc. contact the church office at about being a part of our Fellowship Team. The goal of these gatherings would be to have a great time together, but also build long term relationships and connect people to St. Paul. Arts and Crafts Show Our United Methodist Women are hosting the 20th Annual Homespun by Hearts and Hands Arts and Crafts Show on October 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is a large, well attended event so they need lots of volunteer help to make sure everything runs smoothly! If you can help visit our form online at and sign up for one of the available jobs. We have jobs for all ages and abilities! Bus Drivers Needed Our buses are used by a variety of ministries and we need drivers who are certified or willing to be certified to drive them. The mini bus requires a Class C CDL and the big bus requires a Class B CDL. If you're interested in serving as a driver, contact the church office at church@stpaulumc.org for more information about certification. Candy Donations Our Children's Ministry is hosting a booth at the City of Largo Halloween Spooktacular again this year. This event, held October 24, is a great way to introduce our Children's Ministry and St. Paul to new families. The booth is free, but we must supply 3,500 pieces of candy. If you can donate individually wrapped candy, please drop your donation off at the church office or in the shopping cart in the lobby. 8 Need Auction Donation Ideas? Are you still trying to figure out what to donate to our October 17 auction? Here are some ideas! Are you a season pass ticket holder? Do you have tickets you're no longer planning to use? Donate: Tickets to a show or concert at Ruth Eckerd Hall Tickets to an event at the Straz theater Tickets to Sporting events (Bucs, Lightning) Disney award passes or tickets to attractions Weekend get-away at hotel/condo Golf Packages Approach a Business for Donation Gift cards and services are always popular. The business gets some free publicity, gives to a good cause, and their donations are tax deductible! Letters are available in the church office if you would like to use one to approach a business. "Big Ticket Items" In addition to gift cards and other types of donations mentioned the past few weeks, think about whether you have "big ticket items" you can donate: cars/trucks - boats - wave runner - boat trailer property you own and are not going to develop Remember, donations are tax deductible so if you have a "big ticket item" you plan to sell, you can donate it and deduct the blue book value on your taxes! Be sure to visit the auction table in the courtyard between worship times to find out more about what our auction is trying to accomplish and how you can help! For more information contact Pam Tribbie at the church office: x211 or Sharon Zimmerman: Drop small donations off at the church office Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Be sure to include the value of the item with your donations. If you have a large item that needs to be picked up, please let us know in advance so we can approve the item and schedule a pick-up.

Thanks to Kelly for a very informative meeting! Stephen Ministry intends to provide free informative seminars periodically throughout the year on topics that are of interest to all who serve the people of our Lord. Keep an eye on the bulletin for more information about the next seminar. Thank You From Carolyn Goodwin Carolyn Goodwin extends a big thank you to everyone who attended her auction last Sunday. She and her Home Team appreciated the turn out and everyone's generosity. Just over $3,000 was raised for Carolyn's South Sudan Mission! Thanks also go out to Carolyn's Home Team and the Vaughn Source Group for helping host the auction, the UMW's Hannah Circle for their financial support of the mission, and the UMW's Dorcus Circle for the 300 handmade, washable sanitary pads they made for Carolyn to distribute to girls in the South Sudan. The Spirit's leadership was evidenced by the people who worked so hard to put this event together, people s generous donations, and the people who came and supported. God was there through it all! If you were unable to attend the auction but would like to support Carolyn's mission visit The Mission Society website: To give click on the Give tab and enter Carolyn Goodwin under missionary name.
