6 GENEROSITY: Pastor Mike Carlson s Personal Journey This Christmas my son and grandchildren from West Virginia stayed with me for two weeks. While rocking Gabriel (the youngest) back to sleep one evening, my mind was bursting with questions about his future, but one troubling question kept coming to the forefront: Will he have faith in the living God? Thinking about how I could help strengthen his faith, I recognized that I would pray for him, I would talk to him, and I would fill him with the stories of God s faithfulness. But what about the church? What will the church look like in 30 years? It was in that moment I remembered that I had High School Youth Minister St. Andrew s is seeking a dynamic, experienced leader to serve as full-time High School Youth Minister. Candidates should have experience in congregational youth ministry, possess a solid Lutheran theology, and display excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. For more information, contact Mark Jackson at mjackson@ saintandrews.org or Employment Opportunities not yet left a part of my estate to The Foundation of St. Andrew s. I know that the way I give from my legacy will have a direct impact on the health of the church well beyond my earning and giving potential. For me, giving to the Foundation is not about a financial obligation, but it is about an inheritance that I give to the children who follow me. I give so that others may know the stories that shape and change the world. I give from that place because I believe that God has a future for Gabe. As I continued to rock Gabe I remembered words from the Gospel of Matthew: Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. God is with us, and we are promised a God who has a vision that extends far beyond our vision. Let us work together to bring that vision to life. Contact Pastor Gerry Rafftery, Executive Director of The Foundation, at grafftery@ saintandrews.org or to visit about entrusting your legacy to The Foundation.
