Evangelism is simply sharing the story of the gospel with someone who has never heard it or someone who has never responded to it. There are many different methods and ways to share the truth of the Gospel. Over the next six months we will be looking at a few of them and equipping you to use them. Please make plans to participate in these events and trainings. 4 As a church grows larger, it must grow smaller, these words have been uttered in church growth seminars, seminary classes, and workshops for years. The idea behind this statement is, that as a church grows, it is easy to have people fall through the cracks. As a church grows it can be very easy for people to come in and worship Sunday after Sunday but never really have any commitment to the body of Christ. This is the reason why a church must grow smaller as it grows larger. I m not sure who said it first but it is certainly true. Enter small groups; enter Sunday school; enter community. All of these groups are designed to help people connect with one another. Community, for that matter, the body of Christ is more than a set of people who come and worship in the same building once or even twice a week. A community of believers is a group of like-minded disciples of Jesus Christ, who worship, fellowship, learn, and play together. A community does life together. As the faith family at Haw River continues to grow and God blesses, we need to make sure we are connected to one another. The best way to do this is to join a small group. The biblical foundation for a community of believers can be found throughout scripture but for the purposes of this article let s look at one place in particular. In the second chapter of Acts we see verses like these: verse 42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. ; verse 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. ; and verses And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. All of these verses display the community of the new testament church. God was blessing, in one case 3,000 souls in one day. God blessed their numbers and the members blessed one another by being together. They were the church, they were a community, and they were growing smaller as they grew larger. So much to be thankful for...surely you have noticed. A new beginning. Easter is here, my favorite HOLIday. My Savior reminds me He did it ALL for YOU. He surrendered, He sacrificed, He served. Yes, I'm included in YOU, and so are you. When you look at the Cross this year and picture the greatest Sacrifice given to man, the power in His precious blood covering our Sin, we must be moved. Power to open a sealed tomb and come out showing no mercy to death, but victory over the grave. Because He lives, we truly can face tomorrow...and folks, that is the greatest story ever told! Rejoice, again I say Rejoice, for in Him lies our future. He now calls us to surrender, sacrifice and serve. Are you the missing piece? Pray, give and go. Love in Christ!
