Diet of Worms meal for Lenten walkers CLC has been participating in an activity during the six weeks of Lent called Here We Walk. Instead of giving up something for Lent, participants agreed to get some extra movement or improve spiritual wellness while tracking their time on a map of Martin Luther s travels. As each destination was reached, we learned something about the sites where the Reformation happened 500 years ago. Those who participated will be treated to a special meal, A Diet of Worms and may even win a prize. Join in the fun on Sunday evening, April 23, at 5:30 pm in the CLC fellowship hall. Our local Lutheran friends from Trinity have been invited to join us. Easter Brunch Sunday, April 16, following 9 am CLC worship service Day Camp coming to CLC June Mark your calendars! June 19-22, CLC will host a community Day Camp with a team from Riverside Lutheran Bible Camp providing the program. This year s theme is Rooted based on Colossians 2:6-7. Kids will learn more about who Jesus is, how He came to love and serve others, and how we can be a part of doing the same. We will be looking for daily helpers, food donations and housing volunteer. More information will be coming. Book Club resumes Monday, April 24 Envisioning Christ Book Club has been on recess during Lent. The club will resume on Monday, April 24, at 6 pm with the book Heaven is for Real. Talk to Roger A. to order your copy and join the conversation. Collections continue for LWR Baskets of Promise kits This spring, CLC is taking part in Lutheran World Relief s Baskets of Promise appeal. LWR Personal Care Kits provide items to those in need to help them stay healthy in life s most challenging situations. Our goal is 40 kits for the 40 days of Lent, but we will assemble as many kits as we have supplies for. Suggested donations include: April 2 - metal nail clippers April 9 - extra bars of bath soap TLC/MS4JC April program Next meeting of TLC/MS4JC is Wednesday, April 12, 2-3:30 pm at CLC (note date change). Topic will be Holy Week in Review. Youth entering grades 1-5/6-8 are encouraged to attend. ARC Food Pantry in April: Microwave Popcorn Cash donations also welcome. See Pr. 6 COMMUNITY OF FAITH MINISTRIES Ascension Lutheran / Christ Lutheran 406 S. 5th Avenue Coon Rapids, IA Page 6 Community of Faith REFORMATION 500 On October 31, 1517, a man named Martin Luther stood by a church door in Wittenberg, Germany, with a large sheet of paper, a pocketful of nails and a hammer. He posted a list of sentences about God s grace and free forgiveness. This list is called the 95 Theses. Luther s bold action that day spurred what would become the Protestant Reformation, changing the course of Western Civilization. For information on ways our congregations can observe the 500 th anniversary of the Reformation, visit
