2 I am excited about the Installation Service this coming Sunday, February 26. The last few months have been most encouraging, as I am making the acquaintance of so many new people. Some are attending more regularly and are involved more closely in our fellowship. The choir is singing at the Installation Service and we will have a delicious dinner to follow. Our friends, Rose Taul and Marge Egger will be there, as well. This coming Sunday, February 26, our Sunday school children will give a special program in church, focusing on two things: the miracles of Jesus which show that He is truly the Son of God, and His call to us to be fishers of men and women. This Sunday they will be fishermen and fisherwomen as they act out a Bible story and sing. With this event, we are continuing to encourage the children to be involved more closely with the life of the church. I am pleased with the progress our officers have made in all areas and we are setting clear goals for our future as a church. On the personal side, Rose and I have loved our time with you and look forward to seeing you on Sunday. May we be open to having Christ walk with us through this season of Lent and may we daily find peace within our hearts and souls. God bless! 3 Summary of Session News for February 2012 The Session of Range Line Community Presbyterian Church met for their regular monthly meeting on February 15 th There were seven members present and three absent which represented the needed quorum of ½ +1. The meeting began with prayer by our Moderator Re. Jeff Deardorff. The current docket and minutes from January Session Meeting and the February 5 th 2012 Annual Congregational Meeting were reviewed and approved. Reports from the Moderator, Clerk of Session, and Treasurer were presented and approved. As a session we reviewed the Synopsis Pastor Jeff provided of the joint Elder/Deacon Meeting held on February 12 th Each committee outlined goals they hope to accomplish for You will be hearing about these goals in the future and be given the opportunity to make them a reality. Please be prepared to offer your talents when called upon. Committee reports were reviewed and accepted. Here are some highlights of the work of the Session Committees. Fellowship & Hospitality/Mission & Evangelism (Barb Jurs, Dorothy Parks & Susie Hayden) Committee continues working on mission projects with hopes of having a few one day programs during the year. Approval of a motion was given to begin One Great Hour of Sharing on February 26 th. Motion was approved to place a bulletin board in the fellowship hall to keep people updated on coming events and news. Committee is helping with plans for Pastor Jeff s Installation and the upcoming Lenten Season. Also discussed was the need to be more aggressive in asking for help with our fellowship time treats! Please donate if you can. We all enjoy our Fellowship Time. Stewardship, Finance & Administration/Building & Grounds (Jerry Moosmiller, Dale Straughen & Bill Slosser) Committee is gearing up for Per Capita Sunday set for March 18 th Per Capita is an amount we pay yearly to Presbytery based on the number of members we have. Presbytery then passes their pledge on to Synod and so forth. The cost is around $ per person on our 108 member roll. If you can help by paying for your own dues it would be of great help. More to come on this in Minutes for Missions leading up to Per Capita Sunday. Committee always continues with routine maintenance and repairs as are needed. Worship & Music/Christian Ed (Betsy Kubisz, Chari Hayden & Judy Sharp) Committee has been making plans for Lenten Season. They are working on reviving the Tot Worship Bags to be used during service. Christian Ed has been working on an exciting new curriculum to be implemented for Sunday school. Session has approved this curriculum and it will include traditional Sunday school along with several Special Events. Please plan on bringing you children, grandchildren and all their friends to join in this worship time. Session also approved a motion for Bible School to be a Family Event this year. Watch for more details on this. Christian Ed also led a sub committee in the adoption of a Church Camp Policy. Session reviewed and discussed this policy and deemed it to be fair to all therefore offering approval of the policy. With more children interested in camp and the costs involved it was decided there will be goals each child must reach for their camp fee to be covered. The goals are simple and should be easily attainable. There will be a representative from Geneva Center here on April 1 st to talk about Geneva Camps. If your children or grandchildren are Campers please take the time check into the details. Session also welcomes Ed Kubisz as our Youth Elder this year. He has been busy helping anyone who calls on him and is a talented addition to our group. Session members have set some exciting Goals for this year. You will see more on these in the future so please take the time to check them out and offer up any Time, Talents and Support that you are able. They cannot be accomplished by the two or three people on a session committee. Offer your help to make the Goals become reality! Blessings on your Day! Submitted by Janet Moore Clerk of Session

5 PER CAPITA REIMBURSEMENT Range Line Presbyterian Church is billed $36.24 as Per Capita for each confirmed member for the year To pay for 107 members, our Church is responsible to pay $ as our portion of the Per Capita. It would be a tremendous help to our church if each of you who is a confirmed member of Range Line can reimburse your own per capita of $ Here is the breakdown of where the money goes: General Assembly $ 6.63 Synod $ 3.81 Presbytery $ Total $ Per Capita pays for the administrative costs of our denomination. It does not pay for the mission efforts of General Assembly, Synod, and Presbytery. If each of you can contribute your per capita, Range Line Presbyterian Church will have more money left over for Mission work, Christian Education, and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. We understand that there may be a few of you who might have a difficult time paying your per capita. We understand that and do not expect you to pay per capita if you can't. However, most of us probably can pay our per capita, and that would be an enormous help to your church. March 18 is being designated as Per Capita Sunday. Place your Per Capita contribution in the Worship Service Offering Plate, or you can mail your per capita back to the Church. Please make your check out to the church and note that it is for per capita. The Cost per family is: 1 Member $ Members $ Members $ Members $ Members $ Yours in Christ, Dale Straughen Jerry Moosmiller The Stewardship, Administration, and Finance Committee RANGE LINE COMMUNITY PRESYBTERIAN CHURCH FACILITY RENTAL FEES AND POLICY FELLOWSHIP HALL - This fee includes usage of the fellowship hall, kitchen, coffee pots, coffee servers, salt/pepper shakers, ice from ice machine, refrigerator and sink. The church dishes are not included in the rental fee. The renter is to supply their own towels for drying any dishes. The renter will set up the chairs and tables and take them down or leave them in the same manner in which they found them. There is no charge for funerals or baptisms. The maximum number of people that can be seated in the fellowship hall is about 120. We have five foot round tables that seat 6 to 8. Eight-foot banquet tables are also available. Fees: Members: Non-members: $ Responsible for cleaning up after yourself or pay an additional $50.00 custodial fee which is not included in the initial fee. Under 30 people - $ A deposit of $50.00 is required at time of rental. Over 30 people - $ A deposit of $ is required at time of rental. Range Line Gourmet Gals are available for catering. A fee for catering will be discussed at an appointment with them. Most of the proceeds from this supper go to send kids to camp! Lent The period of 40 days prior to Easter, the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave. The word "lent" comes from the Latin word for "lengthen," because the days of Lent occur during the springtime of the year, when the daylight hours increase. The period consists of 40 days because the number 40 has special biblical significance: Moses and the people of Israel were in the wilderness for 40 years; Jesus was tempted in the desert for 40 days. Since the days of the early church, in the decades and centuries after the death and Resurrection of Christ, Christians have regarded the period of Lent as a time for repentence and reflection. It is invariably marked by fasting (going without food and/or water for a period of time), by giving up something during Lent (sweets; the sports page), and by taking on such habits that will increase one's devotion to Christ.
