1 Crown Newsletter July 2017 CROWN OF LIFE LUTHERAN CHURCH PASTOR KEITH LEMLEY Dear ones in Christ, This is my last letter to you. In order to pursue different ministry models the Church Council and I have agreed that I resign my call at Crown of Life. 1 Thessalonians, is a letter written by Paul to the church at Thessalonica. In this letter, Paul writes to a beloved community, saying: How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy that we feel before our God because of you? (1 Thessalonians 3:9) Paul wondered whether he would ever see the people at Thessalonica again, and he cared deeply about their faith. Although I will not see you, this family of faith will always hold a place in my heart. We have shared in both personal trials and celebrations in the past several years. You have shown love for Donna and I. Saying goodbye is never easy. My last Worship service with you is July 2. There we will gather around Christ s table, as Christians have done since before Paul wrote his letter to the Thessalonians. For almost 2000 years, faithful people have been parting from one another with words of Christ s peace, and we will do the same. Paul writes, And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we abound in love for you. (1 Thessalonians 3:12) Like Paul, I wonder how things will develop for the people of Crown of Life. I have hopes for your future together. We find peace in the knowledge that God has plans for you, your church family, and Donna and me. I pray that God will be with you in all that you do and that you will share your abounding love with the hungry and hurting in this community and in the world. I pray that you will be spiritually nourished by your work on Christ s behalf. Your next chapter will unfold without me, as mine will without you. Whatever comes next, know that you do not face it alone, for the God who made you and the Christ who redeemed you and the Holy Spirit who comforts you will always be with you. As God has blessed you, may you be a blessing to others. In Christian love, Pastor Keith & Donna Page 2: Preschool Commencement Page 3: Vacation Bible School Option Page 4: Happy Birthday, Crown Jewels, Gifts for All God s Children Page 5:& 6 Confirmation faith statements Page 7: Monthly Calendar Page 8: Serving During Our Worship Schedule Page 9: Praise Moves Biblical Fitness Page 10: Photo Memories with Pastor & Donna Page 11: Church hours & information

5 Page 5 1 John 4:19 states that We love because he first loved us. Due to God s generous love for me, He has guided me through a life filled with faith. By God s mercy and through the power of the Holy Spirit, I have come to known Jesus as my Lord and Savior. This faith has helped me see the light in dark situations, and to feel grateful for all the gifts that God has given to me. God has provided me with a supportive family, access to education, a safe home, encouraging friends, and a church that has offered me many opportunities to come closer to Him. He has given me everything that I may need, and more. Psalm 3:3 reads, But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. God has always been a shield that has protected me. I am thankful that He has kept me in good health, as well as my family. Out of God s wonderful mercy, He has helped me to always find happiness. Most importantly, He has directed me away from sin and the temptations of the devil. However, whenever I fall into sin, and do what is wrong, God still protects me. He draws me to repentance and forgives all my sins because of Jesus ultimate sacrifice. The forgiveness He offers, has assisted me to try be a forgiving and kind person to everyone I come across. In John 6:53 Jesus said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. The Holy Supper is a marvelous privilege that God has required believers to be a part of. By joining the congregation and participating in this joyous feast, I will receive many amazing gifts. By eating the bread and drinking the cup, I will receive forgiveness of sins. Also by taking a part in this meal, it will strengthen my faith in God. It will help me to not lose sight of the one, Triune, perfect God. I am very eager to become a member of the church. When I become a member I will still work to be an even better Christian. I will try to live all of my days content and thankful for all the God has given me. Because Psalm 118:24 says, This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
6 JULY 2017 ISSUE 7 Faith Statement Good morning. For those of you who may not know, I've been in confirmation class here at Crown of Life for the past two years. During this time, I have been learning a lot about the Christian faith. Kayla and I have studied in depth Jesus Christ and what He represents. Now I am going to share my learnings of who Jesus Christ is and my relationship with Him. To me, Jesus Christ is Forgiveness. I know this because He forgave all of our sins when He died for us on the cross. Also, Jesus Christ is the Truth. I know that all of his Wor d is tr ue. Additionally, J esus Christ is Life. I know this because he gave us eternal life in heaven. Last but not least, I know Jesus Christ is God. I know this because Jesus said so himself in the Bible. Also He was perfect in every way just like God. In my relationship with Jesus Christ, I know that Jesus is always there for me in times of trouble, and in times when I have doubt in Him or God. I know He will always be there when I need Him the most. Also, I know in our relationship He will always forgive my sins when I need them forgiven. For the last two years I have grown in my Christian faith more than I have any other time in my life. This was made possible by Pastor Lemley and Mr. Leinhos. I want to thank them both them for that great opportunity and showing me how to continue growing.

9 Coming Soon: PraiseMoves: The Christian Alternative to yoga Transform your workouts into worship For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God s. 1 Corinthians 6:20 The purpose of a Fitness Ministry is to attract people to Christ through non-traditional means, as well as to help Christians become more fit in spirit, soul, and body. This is to encourage Christians to take responsibility for the stewardship of the health and fitness of their bodies (which belong to God). This ministry will help you empower yourself, to develop friendships and Christian fellowship in classes, and to offer the unchurched opportunities to make new friends and experience Christianity personally in an informal environment. We are triune beings: Spirit, Soul, And Body who serve a triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It is wise to strive to improve ourselves on all 3 levels. Let us get fit and have fun together Two of the biggest needs in today s society are Spiritual Fitness and Physical Fitness. PraiseMoves Class addresses both of these needs. See Thetruthaboutyoga.net as to why Christians should NOT participate in yoga. My mission as your PraiseMoves instructor is to praise God by teaching others a way to take care of their temples and Praising God s Word. My goal is to draw others closer to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. When we focus on God first, everything else in life falls into place according to His will. Amen.
