1 Concordia Lutheran "The wind blows where it wills..." John 3:8 Church January 2019 N W 3705 Harwood Rd., Bedford, TX Sunday School: 10:00 a.m. Pastor: Rev Mark Lasch Office Phone: Sunday 9:00 a.m. & 11:00 a.m. Time Hang on to your hat by this time next year 1990 will have been 30 years ago. When I hear someone say 30 years ago I think their talking about the 70 s! Where does the time go? We have a tendency to think very linearly, simply going from one day to the next, stacking up our today s and tomorrows and putting them into a file we call a year. Our eternal God thinks differently about time. When Jesus talked about time He would say things like, My time has not yet come, or Now is the time for the Son of Man to be glorified. Occasionally He would say things like, Do not worry about tomorrow, for each day has enough trouble of its own. For Jesus time was noted for its significance, not simply for its chronology. We have an element of this in our thinking. If I were to say that September 11 th is an important day for us to remember, you would know that I was not simply referring to the day after the 10 th and before the 12 th. Instead you would recall the horrific events in New York City, Washington DC, and flight 93. Sometimes we note time not for its chronology, but for its significance. That is how God views our days. Every day is an opportunity to draw closer to Him. Whether that be through prayer, the study of Scripture, or the experience we have in life, God walks with us in our journey and has provided you this day for a reason. Today is significant. Tomorrow, significant significant. At this point in the New Year resolve still dominates our decisions. I will eat better. I will exercise more. I will be kinder to others. I will do better in school all of these are good goals, but alone will be meaningless, as Solomon might say. But goals coupled with the motivation that today and everything in it comes from Him That could make 2019 our best year yet! May you view each day this year in its significance! Welcome 2019 but especially welcome the One who gave it to you. E S
2 t - Financial Peace University At Concordia Class Begins January 14, 2019 at 7PM Class will be coordinated by John & Heather Finder. To register for the class go to: If you have questions please reach out to John or Heather. Hope to see you there! Concordia s Prayer Chain Group Are you aware that Concordia has a Prayer Chain Group? If you aren t on this list and would like to be, please Katy-Roy Rosar at misskatyrr@yahoo.com and she will add you to her Prayer Chain master list. When one is in need of special prayers and would like the prayer chain members to include them in their prayers, please let Katy know your wishes and she will see that a prayer request goes out to the group. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.) Philippians 4:6 says, Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. From the Board of Christian Education... December has been a busy month for the Sunday school children and teachers at Concordia! Christmas Pageant Concordia s Children s Christmas Pageant was once again a huge success! The Children had such a great time putting on their annual pageant for the congregation. They worked so very hard to prepare with practices every Saturday for four weeks in a row. We thank everyone who attended and supported all of the wonderful children who participated. We would like to give a special thank you as well to all of the adults who helped us make this years pageant a success. Thank you to Crystal Schrader and Mele Masalosalo for handling all of the children s costumes. Thank you to Katy Randermann and Ulana Ratley for helping direct the pageant and preparing the children. Thank you to Sam Cracchiolo, and Robert Holley for providing sound and projection support. Thank You to our two narrators Noe Hoffmann and Mary Webster. Thank You to Sherry Harlass for photographing our pageant this year (parents if you would like access to the pictures Sherry took please contact Heather). Thank you to Mase Masalosalo, Kalei Masalosalo, and Aaron Schrader for both the design and the construction of our incredible set. It truly transformed Concordia s sanctuary into that very special time and place in Bethlehem. And last but not least thank you to all of the parents for brining your children to our many practices and having them participate in this very special event. Concordia Christmas Corner Store The Children got to visit the Concordia Corner Christmas Store on December 9. The children had opportunity to use the Mouse Bucks that they have earned over the last few months to tithe, and to purchase gifts for their friends and family for Christmas! There was much joy for the kids to be able to pick out fun little gifts and wrap them in their class rooms so that they could make sure there was no peaking! Remember Mouse bucks can be purchased any time by seeing Heather. We encourage members to keep a few on hand to give to children of the congregation when you spot them behaving in ways that are exceptionally kind or helpful or any other way that you think displays their heart for Jesus. Children s Christmas Goodie Bags Thank you to everyone who made donations of goodies for the children s Christmas eve goodie bags. We were able to create 60 bags this year. The treats were handed out on Christmas eve at both the 5:00pm and service and brought giant smiles to many Children!

If you would like to volunteer to be a member of this club, please see the signup sheet on the bulletin board in the hallway at church.
