1 DOCUMENT AZ IMENTI NORTH PRESBYTERY REPORT TO THE ND GENERAL ASSEMBLY APRIL 0.0 Preamble The Presbytery of Imenti North was inaugurated on Sunday th September 00 with headquarters at Meru Township Parish. It was curved from the larger Imenti Presbytery. This Presbytery basically is in Meru County. It borders the Mt. Kenya forest to the West, Meru National Park to the North, Nanyuki Presbytery to the North West and Imenti Central Presbytery to the South. The Presbytery is composed of six parishes namely; Meru Township Parish, Meru West Parish, Igoki North Parish, Igoki South Parish, Kithino Parish and Maua Paris h: two Outreaches that is; Giaki and Gaitu and two Nendeni Areas which are Nkubu and Kithirune. All Ministers and elders one day retreat on th May at Meru Township Church. 9

2 Presbytery visit to all our parishes, outreaches and nendeni areas. Laying of foundation stone three foundation stones were laid. One on th March 07 for Makirone and Nkabune church on th May 07 in Meru West Parish and for Maua church in Maua Parish on th June 07. Ordination of two elders in Nkubu Nendeni Area. Opening and blessing of Minister s Manse on nd April 07 at Meru Township Parish. Retirement service for the evangelist at Kithino Parish on 9 th February 07. Presbytery mission/convention at Kithirune Nendeni Area from 7 th September 07 to st October 07. Meetings: there were three Presbytery Meetings, three Presbytery Finance Meetings and two Category A meetings. Functions from parochial stations All our parochial stations were able to shepherd and offer pastoral care through the Parish Ministers, elders and evangelists and the following can be noted: Parish Igoki South Parish Meru West Parish FUNCTIONS Two parish leaders seminars One parish leaders retreat (at Thiiri centre) Two youth conferences and two seminars Woman s guild seminar and commissioning Health related seminars and checkups Parish mission and a convention (one) Two woman s guild retreat, one at Isiolo and the other at Mombasa. 12 .0 Presbyterial Groups and Committees (Key Highlights). The groups report of handing over and giving the tools of the presbyterials was given by the clerk. The event was done in the presence of all group chaplains and office bearers of the groups. It was accepted as proposed by Rev. Mutuiri Nkanya and seconded by Elder Alice Kimaita. The report to be sent to the GA office..0 Achievements. There is a notable improvement on groups activities and programmes.. There is a notable progress in church development in all the Parochial areas within the Presbytery.. We have noted a reasonable spiritual growth through souls coming to Christ and also commissioning of new members into different responsibilities within the year and increase of members by percent.. Almost all our parishes have supported the church very well through clearing of their allocations towards MMF in good time.. The Presbytery has engaged itself in the ministry to the needy through visiting the prisoners, taking clothes and foodstuff to Tharaka and Isiolo and helping the needy children within the Presbytery.. Three foundation stones were laid and one manse blessing and opening enhancing physical growth. 7. The amalgamation of the two plots which will allow the approval of the Presbytery Offices plan is almost done..0 Challenges. Poor harvest due to rains failure in the long rains. Drug and substance abuse. Financial constrains. Many orphaned children due to HIV/AIDS and accidents.. High alarming rate of single motherhood..0 Future Plans To major on family life education To create awareness towards drug and substance abuse. Intensify evangelism and pastoral programmes including Theology Education by Extension. Nkubu Nendeni Area to be upgraded in two years to come. Dedication of PCEA Kithirune church and laying of Rubiri Church Foundation Stone in Kithirune Nendeni Area. To make sure that there is improvement on clearing the MMF allocations by the end of financial year. 70

13 To intensify creating of awareness on HIV/AIDS. Construction of Presbytery modern offices. To plant new churches in Nkubu Nendeni Area at Kiigene and Kigane in the near future. To sensitize people about bench mark for the presbytery and all our parishes. Dedication of Nthimbiri and Gitoro churches next year. 7.0 Conclusion The Presbytery is grateful to the almighty God for his grace, stewardship, guidance and blessing for the thirteen years since inauguration. We would like also to register our gratitude to the GA for the continued support. We pray and trust that God will take us through 07/0 successfully as we work hand in hand to ensure that our mission and vision are realized.
