1 DOCUMENT 16AV NGONG HILLS PRESBYTERY REPORT TO THE 22 ND GENERAL ASSEMBLY-APRIL PREAMBLE Ngong Hills Presbytery is located on the western side of Kajiado County and shares a common bounder with Nairobi County. This Presbytery was inaugurated on 18 th March 2012 after being carve out of the larger Ngong Hills Presbytery which included the present time Kajiado Presbytery. Ngong Hills Presbytery is composed of six Parishes and one mission area. The Presbytery is both semi-urban and rural and also cosmopolitan in nature. 2.0 VISION STATEMENT To be a Christ centered Presbytery which is focused on spiritual transformation and service to humanity. 3.0 MISSION STATEMENT To create an enabling environment for Parishes to accomplish the great commission for the well being of society through co-ordination and direction of Presbytery resources. 4.0 CORE VALUES 4.1 Servant hood 4.2 Effective pastoral care 4.3 Effective communication 4.4 Impartation of desirable knowledge 4.5 Team work 4.6 Integrity 4.7 Accountability 649

5 13.0 LEARNING INSTITUTIONS P.C.E.A Enchoro-Emuny Academy is doing well with a population of 620 pupils (293 boys and 327 girls). The staff is composed of 25 teachers and 10 support staff. During the year under review 9 classrooms were constructed and now in use 8 more computers were purchased. Music and arts lessons have been introduced and new digital applications installed. P.C.E.A Kiserian Academy has constructed 4 classrooms in an effort to manage the growth of the School. Kerarapon Parish is also running 3 primary Schools which have continued to grow;- Amani Academy Ewangany Academy St. Andrews Academy P.C.E.A Emanyatta Academy in Kibiko Parish Respective Parishes have continued to offer pastoral oversight to public schools within their jurisdictions FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS The Presbytery met its financial obligations for Year 2016/2017 as shown in table 14.0 Highlights We are grateful to God for the financial improvement that took place during the period under review (a) Year 2015/2016 financial year 3 Parishes were not able to clear Presbytery MMF Commitments while 2016/2017 all the Parishes were able to clear the MMF except Intashat who were adversely affected by severe drought during that period. 653

The results have been encouraging. A summary is shown below-; YOUTH i) Commissioned 108 members. ii) Had a very successful youth week in the Month of May. iii) Organized and participated in seminar, sports Evangelism, Retreats, Keshas, rallies and youth camps. iv) Received the teens from the Boys and Girls Brigade which has led to increase in number of youth members. v) Had a well organized syllabus covered after the English service during the holidays. vi) Paid their CYC, Regional and Presbytery cess in full. 654
7 WOMAN S GUILD i) They observed their Guild week successfully. ii) They commissioned 30 members and gave badges to 28 members. iii) Supported our mission area by Evangelization whereby they took food stuff and clothing and donated chairs to Mt. Suswa iv) Participated in the Regional and world prayer day. v) Continued with visitations to the needy, sick and elderly BRIGADE i) They mounted parade in Presbytery functions. ii) They participated in weddings and attended functions in other Presbyteries whenever invited. iii) They commissioned members and officers. iv) They visited children s home within the Presbytery. CHURCH SCHOOL The group participated in the following activities-; i) Drama and music festivals from Parish to regional level. ii) Most of the Parishes had VBS during School holidays. iii) Regional teachers fellowship. iv) Visitations to the needy and sickly. v) Sports evangelism, seminars and children rallies CHRISTIAN EDUCATION i) They participated in Presbytery functions. ii) Observed their week successfully. iii) They organized educative seminars for the widows and widowers, teen and High School students. 655
8 iv) Visited schools for pastoral care. v) They attended class eight and form four candidates prayer day whereby they gave each of the candidates a mathematical set and a ruler. THEOLOGICAL EDUCTION BY EXTENSION (T.E.E) The Presbytery has continually encouraged members and the entire church fraternal on the importance of attending T.E.E classes. Many groups have graduated and the ongoing groups of students are now taking Higher Diploma in T.E.E. Those who have graduated in T.E.E are a major resource in Christian Education Committee, preaching and organizing Bible Studies in their districts. Many of the members who have graduated in T.E.E are now in the Bible Study Fellowship (B.S.F) ACHIEVEMENTS a) All stations have enjoyed pastoral oversight without undue disruptions b) Sanctuaries have been upgraded and in the process of being dedicated. c) More land have been acquired, or is in the process for expansion of sanctuaries i.e, Charles Roimen, Oloolera. d) Improved accessibility to Church facilities like in Matasia e) Milele Mall in Ngong is able to service bank loan after settling most of the debts emanating from construction works. f) All the Parishes except one were able to meet their financial obligations to Presbytery and Head Office g) The Presbytery joined PCEA Sacco and we are looking forward to utilize for future projects. h) Implemented salary increments according to PCEA scheme of service i) New vestry and Ministers office in Kerarapon Church j) Multi purpose hall in Embul bul Church k) Retreat for Ministers at Mombasa 656

Empower and sensitize Ministers on doing effective Ministry To ensure that all Church land is secure through acquisition of tittle deeds. Strategize on how to improve mission work in Ewuaso Kidong in a sustainable manner. Finish and dedicate sanctuaries which are under construction e.g upper Matasia Church and Olootepes. To construct a recreation and retreat center. 658
11 19.0 CONCLUSION Ngong Hills Presbytery is on a trajectory momentum to be one of the leading Presbytery in transforming lives both spiritually and physically. With strategic thinking, application of appropriate actions derived from co-ordinated sensitization teamwork among all the stakeholders and God being our guide, the sky will be the play ground.
