1 DOCUMENT 6AA MUKURWEINI PRESBYTERY REPORT TO THE ND GENERAL ASSEMBLYAPRIL 08.0 Preamble Mukurweini Presbytery was inaugurated in 986. It is composed of nine parishes. It is located within Mukurweini Sub County in Nyeri County. It boarders Tumutumu, Nyeri, Othaya, Muranga and Kirimara west Presbytery. During the year under review the Presbytery held a Mega annual convention which encouraged the Parishioners by empowering them spiritually, though the year was economically challenging. Church committees were restricted from Presbyterial levels to parish in order for the parishes to be effective..0 Vision To become a dynamic and responsible Presbytery that provides quality and exemplary leadership in meeting holistic and Societal needs for the Kingdom of God, and more so to become a worshiping presbytery. 3.0 Mission To evangelize, teach and provide quality participatory leadership in meeting the societal environmental, economic, spiritual and Political needs of our society with high level of efficiency for the glory of God. And more so to become a worshiping Presbytery.0 Core values The Presbytery is guided by the following core values in her endeavor to achieve her vision and Mission. 10 3.0 church committee P.C.M.F Ministries They have been active and observed their week as scheduled. Participated in rite of passage 00 boys went through the exercise. Active in prayers and is doing extremely well, there is a noticeable increase on men in all congregation. Guild Ministry The group has been very active for the whole year. Have been meeting and holding fellowships on weekly basis. Held annual seminar for all ladies. They partner with the general church in pastoral work, care for the needy and especially they visited children s home at Riamukurweini. They commissioned about 90 members within the year under review. Youth This is an active group which has participated in keshas, rallies and seminars. It has increased in numbers and especially when they have been motivated in participating in missions and sports especially that which was held by the Mt Kenya Region Mukurweini. They have also continued to observe their week successfully. They have participated in crusades and the Presbytery Annual Convention which was held at Kaharo Parish during August holiday. The group was also able to do charity work where they visited Tumaini children s home. The junior youths are mentored to be responsible, accountable and reliable and have become an asset to the presbytery in praise and worship. Church Sunday School This is a strong group with commissioned teachers who are active and responsible for the young ones. They have enabled children to receive rewards as they motivate them to be focus and committed in Sunday service. They initiated porridge programme where children take porridge every Sunday. After their week, they visited other needy children to encourage them and to give support both spiritually and mater 36

11 Evangelism This group has been very strong and active in our Presbytery through out the year. Its missioners had planned schedule for Keshas, prayer retreat and missions. Every calendar year holds a Mega Convention whereby every Parish participates. Last year annual Mega Convention was hosted by Kaharo parish from 6 th 0 th August 0 where 00 missioners / campus attended for days, in it seminars, revivals and open air crusades were carried out where 30 souls came to Christ. This has made Mukurweini to become a worshiping Presbytery. Also Nendeni week was observed as was scheduled. ACHIEVEMENTS All groups are visibly active. During the year under review the Presbytery has successfully organized for Elders fraternity where 00 of them attended for motivation forums where motivational speaker was invited. Mukurweini having become a worshipping Presbytery had resolved to be holding a Mega Annual Convention which had rapidly increased the population growth of members in all parishes. Partnering with the diaspora has also made the growth of the Presbytery spiritually and financially making it to shine and give glory to God. Elders and ministers team work and commitment has enhanced spiritual development and team building. The Presbytery was able to pay pastoral visit to the Parishes with spiritual ad financial constrains to encourage and motivate them through sharing serving experiences/teachings Conducted the mass wedding through Parishes to help work more effectively. CHALLENGES The year has been economically challenging Most Parishes were not able to meet their financial obligation.to the Presbytery except Muhito, Muyu and Tambaya. There was financial constrains felt in most Parishes Failure of some church members to attend fellowship Family challenges Elderly and ailing members Drug abuse and alcoholism of the youth members. Rural urban migration of the youth members. Little physical development. 36

12 FUTURE PLANS initiating other income generating projects and alleviate the financial constrains. Enhancing evangelism aspect as is the back bone of the church Intend to organize more on empowerment activities for our members in order for them to support fully the church. Reaching out to the diaspora. Reaching out the youth in order to create a strong and stable membership. To encourage people to embrace mission work within the Presbytery and outside. Encourage members to support the Presbytery financially. Carry out seminars and rival meeting to our members to avoid idleness that could lead to drug abuse and alcoholism and to rehabilitate the critical cases. Teach members to give generously. Continual to encourage the young families to support the elderly and ailing. CONCLUSIION In conclusion we as Mukurweini fraternity acknowledge that as the theme of st G.A let us arise and rebuilt. We thank the Almighty God who has carried us all through the year under review. We also acknowledge with gratitude to God for the enormous support received from our members and church leaders. It is this support that has seen the Presbytery grow spiritually, physically ad socially. We thank those who have supported the Presbytery on the whole year. We also acknowledge the support and guidance accorded to us by the office of the st G.A and wish them God s blessings. May God s favour rest upon you as you lead this great Church.
