Again this year our parish is hosting the Turkey Dinner which is a fund raiser of the Men s Winter Refuge. We offered our facility last year since I have been serving on the board for this organization. Again we open our doors to host this event since we are blest with a very accommodating facility and many parishioners willing to assist or come to support the event. Some of our Altar Society Ladies are helping in the kitchen and we have some of our Confirmation Class helping with bussing tables. Our deep thanks also to our parishioners who were willing to roast a turkey. We are so blest with such good people. Have a blest week. With deep love and affection, Fr Bruce VOCATION VIEWS Jesus upholds the example of the widow who puts two small coins into the Temple treasury as the greatest treasure given. We are to give not out of our surplus, but from our very selves. (Mark 12:38-44) Please submit articles for our bulletin by 2:00 pm on Tuesday. Thank you! 2 We remember Ed Dostert, brother of Irene Dostert; George STEWARDSHIP OF TIME, TALENT AND TREASURE Gathman, brother of Jean Hennessy; Rose Krebs, mother of Bernetta Ridl; and Helen E. Borgen, mother of Jim Borgen. We pray for their family and friends who grieve their loss. May the fullness of life be theirs. Did you know that... on any given day at Mass we have a number of parishioners who have lost a spouse? Like the widow in today's readings, they continue to give of their time, talents, and treasures to God through what they do for Our Lady of Grace. They serve as ushers, Eucharistic ministers, lectors, take turns serving fellowship and at receptions after funerals. Many help in the food pantry or with our Faith Formation program. Another way they help is to be there for each other, taking each other to appointments, giving rides, helping with yard work or house chores. Thank you for your gifts to our Lord, our parish and each other. May God bless you. Adult...$13, Loose...$ 1, Children...$ Offering Cards...18 Stewardship Thought: Both widows in today s readings gave all they had to the work of the Lord, one using all her remaining food to feed Elijah and the other offering her two copper coins to the temple treasury. Faithful stewards give all that is asked and trust the Lord to be faithful to His promises. Celebrating OLG Wedding Anniversaries Nov Blaine and Kathy DesLauriers, 38 yrs; Dustin and Julie Voeller, 7 yrs; Paul and Leann Mellum, 1 yrs; Loren and Sue Routledge, 29 yrs; and Grant and Maggie Huff, 2 yrs. May God bestow His goodness and blessings on the each of you as you celebrate another year of marriage. Our Lady of Grace Marriage Building Committee (If your anniversary is not included, it is possible that we do not have the information on your registration. Please send us your marriage information.) Pastoral Care Committee Parish Stewardship Needs Two or more people are needed to help move snow at our church by shoveling and blowing snow. We start at 6 am after it has snowed to clear out the doorways around the church and rectory. This is a wonderful opportunity to assist here at our church. If you are interested in performing this ministry for our parish, please contact Deacon Steve at I would like to thank my parish family for their prayers during my kidney transplant surgery on September 6 and the prayers for continued healing. I am on the road to recovery and value the gift of life that I have been given. Also, thank you for the cards, donations, and support for the benefit that was held for me at the Moose. I am truly blessed to be a member of Our Lady of Grace Church. Thank you. Sue Lommen From Saturday, Nov. 3, through Sunday, Nov. 18, the Three Kings Workshop will again have white boxes at the entrances of our church where your gently used toys can be placed. These toys will then be redistributed to Head Start and the St. Bernard Mission School at Ft. Yates. Your generosity helps others in need. Thank you. Ricky Aberle
3 Next Week s Gospel: Mark 13:24-32 November 18, 2018, 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time Gospel Reflection In this reading we look forward to the day of Jesus' second coming. We do not know the day or the hour of his coming; only God knows. Meanwhile, as Jesus has repeatedly taught us, we must watch and wait for him in faith, hope, and love. In the hour we least expect him, he warns, he will come. Let us pray in today's liturgy for ourselves and for the whole Church, that the Lord may find us ready when he returns. May we not be doing foolish things or be living in fear, but be awaiting the kingdom with hope as we strive to do God's will. Discussion Questions for the Gospel One day, Saint Thomas Aquinas, the great teacher and philosopher, and his Dominican brothers were gathered for their hour of recreation. They were all talking, laughing, and enjoying one another's company before going back to their work, prayer, and study. Someone asked Saint Thomas, "If the world were to end in fifteen minutes, what would you do?" He replied, "I would continue doing exactly what I am doing right now." Why do you think Saint Thomas said this? How can you be ready for Jesus to come again? A Prayer for Veterans Day God of mercy we ask for blessings on all those who have served their country in the armed forces. We ask for healing for the veterans who have been wounded, in body and soul, in conflicts around the globe. We pray especially for the young men and women, in the thousands, who are coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan with injured bodies and traumatized spirits. Bring solace to them, O Lord. May we pray for them when they cannot pray. Have mercy on all our veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Bring peace to their hearts and peace to the regions they fought in. Bless all the soldiers who served in noncombative posts. May their calling to serve continue in their lives in many positive ways. Give us all here present today creative vision to see a world that, growing weary with fighting, moves to affirming the life of every human being and so moves beyond war. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. Jesus, I trust in You! Respect Life dakotahope.org Do you or someone you know need help because of unintended pregnancy or other sexual health issue?
