1 December 2016 Volume 68 Number McSwain Drive West Columbia, SC (803) South Carolina District Vibrant Church Initiative (VCI) Forty pastors attended a VCI presentation on September 24, 2016, at Columbia First. Of the ten churches that made application for the VCI, these four churches were selected for the inaugural program: Aiken Ebenezer, Ashwood, Pelion, and Summerville. The initiative includes assessments completed by the church on their local church health and community demographics, an assessment site visit and meeting with the local VCI team, and an action planning day at the campground. Rev. Kyle Himmelwright, Rev. Terry Weyman, Rev. Joshua Fite, and Dr. Eddie Estep are leading this initiative. ZERO ZEROES Zero Zeroes is the goal of zero South Carolina District pastors reporting zeroes in any of the following areas: New Nazarenes (Every church showing at least a plus one) Conversions (Every church showing at least a plus one) Baptisms (Every church showing at least a plus one) Giving for the World Evangelism Fund, Pensions & Benefits, Trevecca Nazarene University, and District Fair Share (Every church participating in each of these areas) When we all gather for the 2017 District Assembly, we want Zero Zeroes reported. We want every church to be able to report participation and growth in these important areas. We are halfway through our church year, and many of our churches can already report positive numbers in each of these categories. But our goal is not that many churches, or even most churches show positive numbers. We want every church to be able to show positive numbers. We want Zero Zeroes! We look forward to every church showing forward progress, every church advancing, every church showing fruit. We look forward to Zero Zeroes! Dr. Eddie Estep District Pastor

5 Fawn Grove Compassion Center - A few thousand hugs, 3,384 to be exact! When disaster strikes, be it natural or man-made, we will always find those who are hurting and unable to return to the comfort of home. A hug at the right moment can ease the pain. You have done just that. "Crisis Care Kits are like Hugs in a Bag, and will bless those that receive them," according to Jessica Ferguson of World Assist. Because of your love of Jesus, and a world that from time to time finds itself in crisis and in need of a hug, South Carolina Nazarenes continue to touch lives and give hugs. Every banana box packed potentially touches 18 lives (hugs). This past summer 188 banana boxes containing a total of 1,128 Crisis Care Kits were delivered to the warehouse. You gave 3,384 hugs. "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up" Galatians 6:9. Pastor James Merritt District Compassionate Ministries Merry Christmas from your SC District NMI Team Since January 1998, JESUS Film teams have reported: JESUS Film Harvest Partners has reported work in 138 countries, with 290 languages used, and currently 710 registered teams. Goals Results Evangelistic contacts* 100 million 75,840,087 Decisions for Christ 17 million 14,649,640 Initial discipleship follow-ups 8 million 6,656,361 Preaching Points 70,000 64,052 *JESUS Film and other tools A whole family accepted Christ! exclaimed a team member in Uruguay. Through an in-home discipleship class, we can pray for people in their own homes. A study from the JESUS Film curriculum is used. As a result, lives are changed. Recently an entire family became followers of the Lord! Pray for the influence and witness of this family to be greatly multiplied for the glory of God.
