And I love how it warms up so quickly in Illinois. It reminds us that as we move forward, these are days that things can change so quickly both good and bad. As we continue to pray and seek God s favor in bringing HIS fruit into our lives and church we hold on to HIS promises. He can bring victory and miracles into all kinds of situations. When Joshua was preparing to lead the Children of Israel into the promise land, he shared this amazing promise with them. TEAM DAY RESCEDULED FOR APRIL 6th Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you Joshua 3 : 5. As you continue to consecrate your life totally to God, and as you determine to be a passionate follower of Jesus Christ, get ready. He will do amazing things in and through your life. Today let s expect change in our lives and church that will glorify HIM. Let s expect HIM to show up as we gather for worship. Let s expect to see powerful miracles of God happening all around us. And let s expect to see fruit new souls coming to faith in Jesus Christ. God is up to something amazing. Make sure you or your church don t miss it. 2 Discipleship Ministries Arron Lynn ~ SDMI I don t know about you, but I think we should have all of our congregations go with us to Florida for the rest of the winter. I love the seasons, but all this snow and ice happening near Sunday is enough! Good news is, now that the football season is almost over that means pitchers and catchers will be reporting soon and spring is just around the corner. I want to take one last opportunity to encourage each of you to register for M19 conference coming up real soon. The dates for M19 are February 11-13, 2019 in Kansas City, MO. There are a couple of pre-conference sessions too. This also promises to be a great and informative conference. I spent some time this morning looking over all the workshops and they all look amazing. I want to encourage you to register for both and let s continue to move forward on the district sharing and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Missions NMI Pres. Sandy Stickler When I think of February I think of the love month. What a great way to show our love by having an over the top Alabaster offering. I would like to challenge your church to set a new record on your Alabaster giving. This is one of our Global goals. And as you know Alabaster is all given to the work 100%. No administrative costs taken out. It provides hospitals, schools, churches, parsonages on the mission field as well as purchase land to build these buildings. Save the date for our Spring Zone Deputation tour. It is May with missionaries Dwight & Carolyn Rich who are serving on the North Andean field in Ecuador. On January 2, 2019 the new church plant: Iglesia del Nazareno Nuevos Comienzos was blessed to have their first baptism service! Juan Lucas Pablo took the wonderful step in faith and testified of his decision to serve the Lord through the sacrament of baptism. Pastor David Samaoya and Nuevos Comienzos Pastor Juan Ricápito participated in the serve in performing the baptism. Pastor Juan shared a reflection with the congregation and it was wonderful to see 35 people, both English and Spanish speaking come together and celebrate this joyous moment! The new church plant is very grateful to the district for their love and support and would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Brian Trambley and New Beginning s Community Church of the Nazarene for their constant support and prayers. 3 STUDENT MINISTRIES Quizzing The Illinois District was represented by fantastic teens at the national-level teen Bible quiz tournament in St. Louis, Nov. 30-Dec. 1. In some very fierce competition, our teams worked together and put their knowledge to the test (A Team placing 7th in their division and B Team placing 9th in their division). Thanks to Josh from Decatur West Side, Elizabeth, James & Shayla from Quincy Emmanuel, Emily & Grace from Ogden, Kolby & Savannah from Marion, Faith from Pittsfield, and Payton from Centralia for studying hard and stepping out of their comfort zone. We're proud of your efforts! Special congratulations to Josh Fields for placing 10th out of 246 quizzers!
