2 FROM THE PASTOR S STUDY We are one in the Spirit; we are one in the Lord, we are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord and we pray that all unity may one day be restored 1 Yes, we are one in the Spirit, we are united in Faith! On September 9 th, we will celebrate Kick-Off Sunday which marks the beginning of our program year. This is a time of great energy, excitement, and opportunity children and adults learning stories of faith, worshipers singing songs of praise and thanksgiving, lay readers, greeters and ushers, liturgical dancers, all sharing the joy of leading worship; Quilters and the Youth Group all experiencing memorable times of fellowship. We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand, we will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand, and together we ll spread the news that God is in our land Kick-Off Sunday is an opportunity for all of us to remember who we are as Christians and, working together, recommit to the Great Ends of the Church: the proclamation of the gospel for the salvation of humankind; the shelter, nurture, and spiritual fellowship of the children of God; the maintenance of divine worship; the preservation of the truth; the promotion of social righteousness; and the exhibition of the Kingdom of heaven to the world. 2 We will work with each other, we will work side by side, we will work with each other, we will work side by side, and we ll guard human dignity and save human pride Come celebrate Kick-Off Sunday. Interested in singing in the choir? Rehearsals will begin on September 20 th at 6:30 p.m. Join us! QUILTERS Our quilters win again at the Erie County Fair! Carol Woolson won a Blue Ribbon for her Tea Towel with appl. grapes, a Red Ribbon for Quilted Penguins, Peace Mat and a White Ribbon (honorable mention) for her Christmas Table Runner. Marilyn Koukal won an Honorable Mention for her Blue Baby Quilt entry. Quilters will resume on Thursday, September 27 th (6:45 p.m.); Fellowship Hall. All are invited to join us! CHURCH DIRECTORY Our Church Directory was updated this summer. Copies of the Directory will be available on the counter in the sanctuary on September 30 th. IMMUNIZATIONS Flu and pneumonia immunizations will be administered at Faith Church on Sunday, September 23 rd, by Rite Aid Pharmacy staff (Noon-3:00 p.m.) Insurance cards are required. No appointment is necessary. However, if you would like to set up a specific time, please call the Church Office ( ) to do so. CHURCH SCHOOL CLASSES FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS WILL RESUME ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 16 th, AT 9:00 A.M. They are no longer permitted to call us and we rely on family, other members and friends to let us know when someone is hospitalized. A suggested contribution of $31.00 per member would address our denominational Per Capita/Mission Giving assessment. PLANNING AHEAD The Board of Deacons have scheduled their Annual Spaghetti Dinner for Saturday, November 3 rd. They will also be having a theme basket auction and ask that we plan ahead by purchasing items and contributing baskets thru October. Worship and Music Committee: 1) August 26 th worship leader will be Marcia Buhl, Moderator, Presbytery of Western New York 2) Roger Dahl will be on vacation August 19 th and August 26 th. Susan Coogan has agreed to replace him for those 2 weeks. 3) We re going to be doing a fundraiser: Pulled Pork Lunch, September 9 th. Nancy R. and Bunny will provide meat; MaryAnn, potato salad; Deacons will provide dessert. Tickets: $5.00 (advance sale) or $7.00 (at the door). Motion made to put the dinner on Facebook. 4) There will be a Communion Workshop for Children on Saturday, September 29 th (10:00 a.m.) Mission and Outreach Committee: 1) Work Day for Habitat - There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board for a day of volunteering for Habitat; Saturday, October 6 th (time to be announced). 2) During August we will be accepting school supplies for the Ken-Ton Closet.
