We gather here today to give thanks for those around us, for the things of the earth that give us the means of life, for the natural world in which we find the means to be clothed and housed, for the ability to use the gifts God provides. May we respect the life God has given us; and may our spirits be strengthened by using only what we need, and may we use our strength to help those who need us. Welcome all! Several French composers pay musical tribute to him as his promising life and musical career was cut short. Le Jardin Suspendu (The Suspended Garden) is one of this most delicate compositions. A repeated theme is punctuated by Alain writes these words on the score: The hanging garden, it s the perpetually sought after and elusive ideal of the artist; it s the unattainable and inviolable sanctuary. English composer William Walton ( ) composed Crown Imperial originally for the coronation of Edward VIII. However, Edward VIII abdicated before the coronation took place and the piece was used to crown his brother George VI. The piece has been compared to the five Pomp and Circumstance marches by Edward Elgar, even joking that this is the sixth one. Ask me about the time I played this piece for a Dental School commencement ceremony!

6 Sweet Treat Trays Order your Christmas Sweet Treat Tray today! The trays will contain baked Christmas candies and cookies. Trays sell for $20 and all the proceeds go to the Youth Higher Education Grant Fund. We ask that you pre-order and pre-pay by December 3rd. Trays will be available for pickup on Sunday, December 9 th. Scholarship Applications Huffman and Moody Scholarship applications are due December 1st. Applications are in the lobby. United Methodist Women Lunch All women of the church are invited to dine with the United Methodist Women at Fincastle on the Mountain, Thursday, December 6 th.
