2 Message from the Vicar December 28, 2015 The animals met in assembly and began to complain that humans were always taking things away from them. They take away my milk, said the cow. They take my eggs, said the hen. They take my flesh for bacon, said the hog. They hunt me for my oil, said the whale. The snail was the last to speak. I have something they would certainly take away from me if they could. Something they want more than anything else. I have time. You have all the time in the world if you would give it to yourself. What s stopping you.? This is a very beautiful and meaningful story that came my way as I was reflecting on the year about to bid good bye and the New Year on the threshold.i found this in the book, The Song of the Bird by Antony DeMello. Time is the most precious possession one can have because almost anything else, once lost can be retrieved. But time, once gone is gone forever. This should clearly bring to our minds the importance of our own time as well as the time of others. We cannot afford to let a single minute of our life go ill used. The best that was possible in that particular minute may be recreated on another minute but that would be at the expense of the bygone minute...!!! The time that 2

3 others give us is the best gift they can give since they are parting with something that they can never get back for themselves. As a matter of fact, all who give their time for others are sharing a portion of their life. They don't have any more that part of time ( life ) they have shared with others.so never under estimate those who willingly give their time for us. Time is the most precious possession and time is something that all of us have too. Everything else, there will be some who have and some who lack. But, paradoxically, what almost everyone says that they don't have is time!!! We have and we say we don't have!!! The problem is not that we don't have time but we don't have our priorities set right!!! As we are preparing ourselves to leave 2015 and enter 2016, let us thank God for the gift of time and seek His help to understand in full measure its significance in our life and the life of others. The last quarter was, as usual, full of activities in the parish and I am glad that all of them were carried out remarkably well.they all, in some way,added strength to the spiritual as well as the communitarian life of the parish. My deep appreciation for all those who toiled for the excellent conduct of those programmes. This quarter is special in that the Great Lent commences on the 7th of February and ends on 27th of March. I would seek the cooperation and participation of the parish members in large numbers in the Annual Convention from the 7th - 10th and also the Parish Picnic on the 16th of January. Please plan to positively attend the inaugural meeting of the Diocesan Convention at our church on the 28th of January. I will be away in Kerala from the 11 th - 20 th of February to attend the Special Mandalam meetings and the Maramon Convention. My wife and I prayerfully wish a blessed New year to all of you. As we thank all those who have cared to bear us in prayers in the past, we humbly seek your prayers for our continuing journey in all the days to come. With Love, Jolly Achen 3

4 From My Reading When I heard about the need in North Karnataka, I felt that here was where was the church needed me...my main concern in Karnataka was to relate to the people in their life situations...i preferred to meet people in their work places. I would accompany them when they went to the forest to collect bamboo. I would in fact be with them the whole day. I would also find time to share the gospel with them, but my main concern was to share the life of the people. I always believed that evangelical fervour is not preaching and converting alone...i had a strong conviction that this was what God wanted me to do in that circumstance. 5 From the Secretary s Desk Beloved Parishioners, Greetings in the name of our redeemer Jesus Christ, God Almighty was very kind and full of love and care for us throughout 2015 and with His grace we now enter The parish planned and implemented various programmes for the benefit of its members and people from its surroundings, in which everyone participated with joy and comradery. We hereby express our gratitude to God for his mercy, our Achen and family for their guidance and all the members for their support. The last quarter witnessed the satisfactory culmination of programmes like, Moments of oneness, Sanghavaram, Youth Sunday, Senior citizens Day, 10th Thanksgiving Day and VBS. Harvest festival was celebrated in two parts and more people participated than the previous year. This year the door to door carols was completed in three days. Since the whole parish was segregated into three groups, more members participated in visiting the residences of our parish members heralding the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. Christmas Carols on 24th December was well enjoyed by all as our choir rendered beautiful songs. Mr. Biju Oommen of Ambernath delivered the Christmas message and by way of unique lot, Mr.K.T Thomas & Family was honoured as Family of the year. Watch night service on 31st December was memorable as the members welcomed the year 2016 with new hope and happiness. Malayalam classes are conducted regularly with the support of Kerala Samajam. The last quarter also gave us the saddest moments as our beloved Suffragan Metropolitan Rt.Rev Dr. Zacharias Mar Theophilus left us for heavenly abode on 27th December. We remember him with gratitude and love. The coming quarter will be equally active. Parish convention is planned from 7th to 9th January 2016 and Parish Day on 10th January Sunday. A Gospel Team from CSSM will be leading this year s convention. We will be suitably commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Church Building. 5

6 Parish picnic is planned on 16thJanuary and is eagerly awaited. This year s Diocesan convention will be inaugurated in our parish on 28th January and the same will culminate at CIDCO Exhibition centre on 31st January. Maramon Convention, General Body meeting & Budget are the other notable programmes for the quarter. We are now witnessing untold miseries and sufferings all over the world. It is paradoxical as, one of the major reasons for all these, is faith in God certain perverted, treacherous, crooked and above all narrow minded interpretation of faith. Let us guard ourselves from falling prey to the same narrow minded faith interpretations spreading even in Christianity today. Let us teach our generation the truth of the whole Bible. Proverbs 11:3 warns us; The integrity of the upright will guide them. But the crookedness of the treacherous will destroy them.
