Trinity Lutheran Church - Vinton Ascension Day Divine Worship Thursday, May 10th, 6:30 pm. The Ascension of Our Lord is the closing chapter of Easter. Jesus ascended into heaven as fully God and fully man after He spent forty days comforting His disciples with His physical resurrection from the dead. Pastor Preus will be our preacher and other pastors from our circuit will be participating. Come and receive God s gifts as we hear what our Lord s ascension and session at God s right hand means for us as Christians. 3 Congratulations Pastor Preus! Pastor has completed his Master of Sacred Theology (STM) and will graduate on May 18 from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana. FEARING GOD AS CHRISTIANS The Bible speaks about fearing God in different ways. Usually we think of fear as horror or terror. But the Bible also speaks of fearing God in the sense of a desire to honor our loving Father with our lives, fearing only that we would fail to do so. How Martin Luther taught this topic of filial fear was a major part of Pastor Preus s recent thesis for the Master of Sacred Theology. Stay after church on May 13 for the Bible Class hour to hear him present on this biblical truth. Listen to Pastor Preus and guest host Pastor Jonathan Fisk On KFUO.org for Sharper Iron (Lectionary Study) at 8 a.m. each third Monday of the month where Pastor will be a program guest. TLC Preschool May will be a busy month as we get ready for our program. The AM 3 s and AM 4 s classes program will take place on Monday, May 14th and the PM 3 s classes program will be on Tuesday, May 15th. Everyone is invited to join us on either of those evenings at 7:00 PM. The 4 s graduation ceremony will be celebrated and refreshments will be served by the TLC board, following the program. Currently we are watching five caterpillars eat and get ready to make their chrysalis. When they reach this stage, they will be put into their butterfly cage. Hopefully the children will be able to see butterflies emerge from their chrysalis. Registration for the school year is going great! All classes for next year are filled and each has a waiting list of children who would like to attend TLC. The staff and board appreciate the volunteers who have given their time and talents during the year. Tammy Surface and many parents have helped this year. Our staff, Teresa Scheel, Ronetta Slager, Pat Powers and Joyce Schueler, are the best! I am thankful that they are here to spread the good news about our Savior. We are truly blessed. Our last day of school for the school year will be May 16 and 17 for the 3 s classes and May 18 for the 4 s class. The year has gone by quickly, but soon enough classes will begin again in late August. We appreciate everyone who participated in our scholarship fund raising projects, donated baked goods, materials and monetary donations. We are especially blessed to have people keeping TLC Preschool in their prayers. Blessings, Gail Gerber
