1 Congregational Profile For use by churches seeking pastoral leadership The Village Church 736 McCourry Blvd Incline Village, NV (775) Our Lord Jesus Christ has blessed His church called The Village Church with a drive to worship Him in the service of His people, the surrounding community and beyond. Seeking a Christ-centered Shepherd of this part of the body of Christ whom will be our temporary Co-Pastor becoming our Solo Pastor after a short three month transition period. Church Size: 165 (Number of covenant partners) Average Worship Attendance: 160 Church School Attendance: 15 We are steeped in the traditional Presbyterian leadership structure with a nine member session making the decisions on the direction of our church led by God. 2 Community Profile A Resort /Recreational community at the northern end of crystal clear Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. We are a community of approximately 8,700 people that can grow to more than 20,000 on any given weekend. Expanding our reach to all of North Lake Tahoe opens our population to approximately 20,000. Most of our community is composed of middle to upper class highly educated affluent people that occupy their homes part time. To support our recreational community there is a large percentage of service workers in our population. We are a missional church with a focus of going outside our church walls and into the community and the world. We support a food closet ministry providing non-perishable food to the north shore of Lake Tahoe. Members and friends of our congregation participate in mission trips through our dental mission teams and on teams affiliated with YouthCompass. We also support many local, national and international missions with prayer and financial gifts. 2

This call will start as a three month Co-Pastor with the current pastor after which the position will become Pastor Solo. The Shepherd of this part of the body of Christ would lead by example in caring and compassion, provide biblically-based preaching and teaching engaging the congregation, provide vision and leadership to the congregation and Session that will encourage personal and spiritual growth. He/She will oversee the staff and direct them in such a way as to be good stewards of the building and grounds which we have been blessed, participate with the board of Deacons, moderate Session, periodically lead Bible studies, provide congregation pastoral care, counseling and prayer. The pastor will monitor the financial health of the Church and participate in the recruitment of new members and families To expound in summary, the tasks would include, but not be limited to: Administering the Sacraments, Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals, Work with Ministry Teams, Nurturing, Cultivating, Encouraging, Vision Leader, Administrative oversight, Visitation, Community Representation, Participate in Denomination Polity, Service those in crisis, Interact with Presbyterian Women board, and Preschool Leadership. 3

4 Narrative on the Health of Mission and Ministry As a whole, our congregation has all the God-given skills to fulfill our mission and He has blessed us by being debt free and financially sound. The talent and skills of our members are very wide ranging and diversified. Individually our members are gifted with relating to youth, bravery in expressing their faith and love in Jesus Christ, teaching and sharing God s word and caring for others. Along with our praise music team and vocal choir we have musically talented members with the ability to write, sing, play and direct many different instruments. We are a technology leading church with Facebook, a website, soundboard, overhead projection in our sanctuary and wireless Internet access throughout the church. Many of our members have been here 15 years or more and have experienced growth and change. Our congregation possesses many God-driven experiences. Our food closet ministry provides over 40,000 pounds of food to the North Lake Tahoe communities annually. Our Presbyterian Women have successfully operated a Thrift Shop in Incline Village for over forty years. This shop donates over $100,000 a year for many ministries and missions. We also participate in many local and international mission trips with Habitat For Humanity, Kids Alive and YouthCompass. Prayer is part of our daily lives, corporately, individually and as groups. Our pastor maintains a prayer ministry list. s are sent out to the group as prayer requests are received which is almost daily. We also participate in open prayer requests during our services whereby laypeople assist our pastor in praying for requests received from the congregation. 4
