We try to hear the calls of those in need and respond with Your love, but many times we cannot hear their cries at all. Help us to hear and respond to those in need and forgive us when we choose not to respond. In Christ s name we pray. (Silent prayer) Amen.

6 Daily Bread Supplement DeSoto Presbyterian Church CLOTHES FOR THE NEEDY Although it is summer our thoughts are with the homeless. We are collecting clothing for the needy. Especially needed are men s clothing, and socks in dark colors in all sizes. Please bring these items to the church and place them in the laundry basket located in the opportunity corner. Thank you, Faith in Action BRING IN BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION! It s easy to find BOX TOPS, you may have some in your home right now. You can find them on hundreds of different products, from cereal as well as other kinds of food, to storage products, household products and school supplies. Look for a sample of one in the Opportunity Corner. Each BOX TOP is worth $.10, so imagine how quickly they can add up! There is a write-up about this with a heartfelt thank you from the Goodland Academy on the bulletin board. 8 MISSION STATEMENT We are a multicultural congregation that proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Who saves, redeems, and reconciles the world to God. Our purpose is to seek God s will by loving and glorifying God, loving our neighbors, being active disciples, and bringing others into fellowship with God; the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. WE BELIEVE We know that faith expressed by each Christian strengthens other Christians. We share with others our experiences of God s intervention in our lives. As a people who believe in the power of prayer, we pray together and offer opportunities to learn more about prayer. Music is a powerful conduit through which the Holy Spirit inspires us. We take comfort in traditional hymns but we also offer many varieties of music to celebrate the diversity of our congregation. We promise to nurture children in the Christian life when they are baptized; therefore, we volunteer to teach Sunday School and understand ourselves to be role models for the children in our church family. We have learned through adversity that God is always with us and that the community of faith sustains us. The Spirit of God is present in our worship service. We treasure both the traditions of our reformed faith and also new liturgies. We are a family. We welcome each new person with joy. We share fun and meals. We grow spiritually by studying, working and praying together. We acknowledge that God has richly blessed each one of us with many talents which we use to help others and to reflect God s glory.
