1 St. Timothy s Episcopal Church Creve Coeur, MO January, 2015 The Epiphany Season Window is a creationthemed window in rich verdant colors celebrating the manifestation - the Epiphany - of God in creation...the tree of life; waters springing up to eternal life. Going beyond the image of the magi, the window expresses the universality of the creative energy of God and our invitation to drink of these streams of living water.
2 Page 2 From the Rector It is good to make a new beginning. With the turning of the calendar to 2015, many of us will be making resolutions. I don't see anything wrong with resolutions, but I do think that they are most effective if they are made in the context of a supportive community. I am a pretty private person in many ways. However, I know that if I am accountable to someone I will be a lot more conscientious than if I try to make changes on my own. The New Year is an occasion for renewing our promises to God. I hope that we will be able offer more and more opportunities for living together in Christian community and for mutual support and accountability as we seek to follow the promises of our baptism. There will be occasional and hopefully increasingly regular opportunities for this on Wednesday evenings, in the form of Evening Prayer, occasional services with prayers for healing and educational and fellowship events. The blessing of homes in the season of Epiphany is a liturgy available to the members and friends of the parish. The season of light is a time when homes can be blessed every year as a way of offering God our devotion and praying for the providential care of God in the coming year. Homes can blessed at any time during the year, and it is especially appropriate to bless new homes and homes where we have experienced a significant change in family life. To make an appointment to bless your home, simply call the parish office. It is not necessary to have a party or even to make a big project of cleaning your house. It is good just to ask God to help us in our lives together as each new year begins. You may call or the office to request a date for the Blessing of a Home. Beginning on January 4, I will be offering Inquirer s class at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays in the Rector s office. We will move at a slow pace and leave plenty of time for questions. I hope that we can find some real inspiration by gaining a better grasp of the Bible and its meaning in our daily lives. We will also study the Episcopalian way and the Book of Common Prayer. Those adults who have not been baptized can use this as a place to prepare for Holy Baptism at the Easter Vigil and parents and godparents can prepare for the baptism of infants and young children. This will also be a place where older youth and adults can be prepared to renew the promises of baptism, by Confirmation, Reception from another communion of the Church or Reaffirmation of Baptism. Let us encourage one another to love and good works. Marvin+

5 What is Peace Meal? PEACE MEAL 2015 Page 5 A group of St. Timothy s Volunteers have been going to St. John s Episcopal Church on Arsenal Street, St. Louis approximately five mes a year to prepare and serve a hot meal to the public living in and around the area. Sco Splater, St. John s Peace Meal Co coordinator, assigns the dates of service for St. Timothy s and other Episcopal Churches in the St. Louis area. The dates for 2015 are as follows: Saturdays Feb. 7, April 18, July ( tba ), Sept. 12 and Nov. 21. If you or someone you know are interested in becoming a Peace Meal Volunteer, please drop an to jam330@charter.net and I will be happy to add your name and address to our volunteer list. Thank you, Judy Maloney Membership at St. Timothy's Holy Bap sm is full ini a on by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ s Body the Church. The Episcopal Church, following ancient prac ce, does not re bap ze persons who have been bap zed in other Chris an denomina ons. If you are bap zed, you may join the parish by providing your bap smal status to the Rector and sta ng your inten on to be a member. Those bap zed at an early age are expected, when they are ready and have been duly prepared, to make a mature public affirma on of their faith and commitment to the responsibili es of their Bap sm and to receive the laying on of hands by the bishop. In the Episcopal Church, there are three ac ons that have been referred to as confirma on: Confirma on itself, in which a person who has not been confirmed by a bishop comes before the bishop for the laying on of hands. Recep on, in which a person who has been confirmed by a bishop in a church other than the Episcopal Church, is received by the bishop as a confirmed member of the Episcopal Church. For example, this would apply to members of the Roman Catholic Church who have been confirmed in their denomina on and who now seek to become confirmed members of the Episcopal Church. Reaffirma on, in which a person who has been confirmed or received by a bishop in the Episcopal Church desires to reaffirm their faith commitment. Our next confirma on date is May 16 at Christ Cathedral in St. Louis. Confirma on requires prepara on. The Rector's Inquirer's Class beginning January 4 will provide such an opportunity. Please ask the Rector about details.

Parking Spaces It has been brought to our a en on that there are some who need parking close to the entry door at our 10:30 worship services, and there are some mes not enough designated parking spots to accommodate everyone who has a need for a more accessible parking spot. If you are able to walk a li le further than some, and there are places for you to park in the back half of the parking lot, it would be greatly appreciated if you would use those spots. The problem with having more permanently designated handicap parking spaces is that in most cases other than 10:30 AM, we usually don t need all of the designated parking spaces for handicap parking. Thank you for your considera on of those with special needs for parking. Dennis Whi ngton, Sr. Warden
