1 Announcements July 9-15, 2012 Celebration of Giving Litany MINISTER: It is now time for us to share in giving. Why do we give? CONGREGATION: We give because all we have comes from God. According to Deuteronomy 8:18, it is God who gives us the power to get wealth. MINISTER: Why do we give? CONGREGATION: We give because God commands us. Malachi 3:10 states that we are to bring the full tithe into God s storehouse. MINISTER: Why do we give? CONGREGATION: We give because God said in Luke 6:38, to give and He would give back to us a more abundant blessing. MINISTER: Why do we give? CONGREGATION: We give because 2 Corinthians 9:7 states that God loves a cheerful giver. ALL: Thank you Lord, for the privilege of giving. We are excited about paying the tithe and giving the offering. We know that you are faithful to your promises. Therefore, we trust you in faith to do what you have said. AMEN! 1

2 WOMEN S MINISTRY Let the Redeemed of the Lord tell their story Psalms 107:2 (NIV) The Women s Ministry of Mount Calvary is open to all women and is intended to glorify God and teach the Word. It is the goal of the Women s Ministry to help each woman build a close, intimate, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, grow to maturity in her faith and reproduce that relationship in the lives of others. PRAYER CLASS If you've thought about how to further strengthen your prayer life, consider joining us in an awe inspiring Prayer Class that will encourage you. The class has resumed and is meeting in the Chapel located on the 2nd Fl of the LGFLC during the 9:30am Sunday School hour! NEW MEMBERS MINISTRY Sunday mornings 9:30 a.m. during Sunday School Hour in the Church Library and runs for 8 weeks. The New Members class supports new members integration into the life of Mt Calvary Baptist Church and facilitates discovery of one s calling into the body of Christ. Are you worried about your daughter getting diabetes? The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health & Human Development seeks girls ages 12-17, who have a family member with type 2 diabetes. Parents, consider having your daughter participate in an NIH research study to see if helping girls feel less stressed will decrease their risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The study involves 2 screening visits, a 6- week group program, and 3 follow-up visits within a year. Eligible participants will be financially compensated for their time. CALVARY INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLE is looking for new members to join. If you play an instrument in your school orchestra or band, becoming a member would be a great opportunity to use your talents to serve and worship God through musical praise. In addition to serving as a volunteer, you are asked to contact your local alumni associations Now and urge them to participate in our 2 nd Annual College Fair. 8 Mount Calvary Baptist Church Cancer Support Group Program A spiritual network is being created for both cancer survivors and their caregivers. This group will be instrumental in facilitating Spiritual Hope through the Journey of Cancer Diagnosis, Treatment and Recovery to our congregation and the community. The following is a list of possible activities that may be provided for survivors and caregivers: Support Group Meetings/Spiritual Sharing/Prayer Hope and Healing through Bible Study Educational Workshops and Guest Speakers Nutritional Workshops/Courses Guided Relaxation Responses Spiritual, Emotional, and Mental Enhancement Workshops/Courses Facilitated assistance in accessing cancer support resources Interested individuals should stay tuned for forthcoming information that will further define the Cancer Support Group Program, along with specific topics, locations, dates, and times. This program is being coordinated by the Counseling Ministry. The Cancer Support Group meets the first Tuesday of the month 7:00 p.m. in Room 200 of the Leon Grant Family Life Center. 8

9 FROM THE EVANGELISM MINISTRY As we continue our series on questions the evangelist may need to answer, while witnessing, today we will discuss the statements I m as good as any Christian, and I made a commitment, but nothing happened. [The primary reference is The Evidence Bible, Bridge-Logos, Gainesville, Florida, Publisher.] I m as good as any Christian A Christian, by himself, isn t good. Jesus said that only God is good. The only goodness, or righteousness, that the believer has comes from Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21); Philippians 3:9). The Bible tells us that, without Christ, man is corrupt and filthy; there is none that does good, no, not one (Psalm 14:3). I made a commitment, but nothing happened Some people don t get past square one because they trust in their feelings rather than God. His promises are true, despite our feelings. If I make a promise to my wife, that promise is true whether she is feeling happy or sad, if she doubts my word, then she brings a slur to my integrity. Anyone who genuinely repents and trusts in Christ will be saved. The Bible makes this promise: He that has my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves me: and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him [John 14:21]. There s the promise, and there s the condition. Any person who loves and obeys Jesus will begin a supernatural relationship with Him and the Father. He said, And this is life eternal, that they might know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent (John 17:3). That doesn t mean you will hear voices or see visions. God will instead make you a new person from within. He will send His Spirit to live within you. You will have a new heart with new desires. You will suddenly become conscious of God and His creation. The Bible will open up to you and become a living Word, and you will have an inner witness that you are saved, that your name is written in heaven, and that death has lost its sting (1 John 5:10-12). 10 FROM THE EVANGELISM MINISTRY The Evangelism Ministry is providing Gospel tracts to the congregation. We ask that you read them for yourselves, give them to others, and also leave them in various places where others will see them. A list of ideal places to leave Gospel tracts is included as an insert to your bulletin. This is your opportunity to be a witness for Christ and share the Gospel. The tracts are available at the entrance to the sanctuary and in the lobby of the LGFLC. Some Ideas Where to Leave Tracts: At pay phones In shopping carts In clothes pockets in stores In letters to loved ones With a generous tip On seats in restaurant lobbies With fast-food employees, cashiers, flight attendants, cab drivers, and gas station workers In restrooms At rest areas On ATM machines and bank counters In envelopes with bill payments In elevators On hotel dressers for the maid On ice machines On newspaper racks In waiting rooms of doctors' offices and hospitals On seats at airports, subways, and bus stations In plane seat pockets Inside magazines In cabs In Laundromats 10

12 Mount Calvary Members Plan to come to the church-wide picnic, Saturday, July 21, 2012, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM in the Mount Calvary Park next door to the church. There will be plenty of food, games, prizes, and opportunities for fellowship. We want this to be the highlight of your summer down-time experience. To assist us in planning, tell us below the number of your family members who plan to come. Also list any games or equipment you can provide or special talents you can share to enhance the picnic. We would like to expand our activities to accommodate all interests make this a fun-filled outing for everyone. Menu: Burgers, Hot Dogs, pop corn, cotton candy, sodas, water, chicken, fish and trimmings, and watermelon and desserts.
