MARY S CATHOLIC CHURCH VICTORIA, TEXAS OCTOBER 21, 2018 SUNDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2018 TWENTY-NINTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME 1) Isaiah 53: ) Hebrews 4: ) Mark 10:35-45 or 10:42-45 FOCUS:Through his suffering, Jesus justifies many and sympathizes with us in our weaknesses. The coming of the kingdom has renewed all creation. Its fulfillment in Christ will bring complete renewal and hope. Even the difficult issue of suffering is changed. No longer without meaning or purpose, it has become an opportunity to serve and to be intimately joined to Christ, the Suffering Servant. LITURGY OF THE WORD The prophet Isaiah foretells the burden to be borne by the Suffering Servant, and how through that suffering the world would find redemption. The writer of Hebrews reminds us that Christ, in sharing our human condition, truly understands our struggles and temptations. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches us that discipleship and suffering are intimately related. St. Mary's 2019 Family FestivalSunday February 10, 2019 Our next Festival Planning meeting will be Nov. 15, 2018 in the Annex at 7:00pm. Everyone is invited to our 2019 Festival Planning Meetings. At this time we are asking for Raffle donations, the deadline for your donations is Friday Oct. 26 and jewelry for the jewelry booth. We are also accepting prizes for bingo. We welcome all parishioners as we prepare to have our BEST festival yet. If you are interested in helping in any way or have questions, please call Kevin or Joan Pfister We need everyone s help in making this Festival a success. Join us for Bible Study! The choir also practices on Thursday evenings in the church from 5:30p to 7:00p in preparation for Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter services. MARY S CATHOLIC CHURCH VICTORIA, TEXAS OCTOBER 21, 2018 All Hallows Eve Family Fun Night Wednesday, October 31, 2018 About 7pm, following 6pm Mass St. Mary s Activity Center Join us for a night of family fun! This will be a night of safe, wholesome good times in honor of all the great saints. This is not your ordinary Halloween party! All ages are invited. The fun will start around 7pm, following the 6pm Mass. There will be games for all ages, the Living Hall of Saints, Holy Costume Contest, Pumpkin Carving Contest, and complimentary snack bar along with goodie bags for all the children. SAINTS NEEDED for our Hall of Saints: We need at least 3 adults to volunteer to dress up and tell the story of their favorite saint this is one of the coolest parts of the night. Please let Marie know ASAP if you are interested! ADULT and TEEN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: to help with games and snack bar. Teens can earn service hours by helping out with games. Candy donations: we will need donations of candy to put into goodie bags. We need a variety of assorted Individually wrapped fun-size candies such as; Hershey brand, Mars brand, Sweet Tarts or Smarties, Jolly Ranchers, candy corn, Tootsie Roll brand, Brach s brand. Individually wrapped snacks such as Rice Krispies Treats, Fruit Chewies and Goldfish crackers are welcome. Parenting with Purpose The Emmaus Center will begin holding parenting classes on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:15pm. There will be four sessions.
